I had issues checking in due to not being well aware of security deposit details. The jacuzzi was closed off and didn't state that on any websites at all.. I spent a decent amount of money for a suite and the shower head barely worked to shower after swimming in the FREEZING cold pool, which to my understanding is Supposed to be heated. As well as having to ask 3 times for pool towels to be put in the Pool, as we went In there and there was close to none Left. How ever my biggest concern is how the front desk staff pounded on my door and spoke to me with such disrespect as if I was a child. NOW I know my music was to loud, I will admit to my doings in the situation ,and it was after quiet hours which is completely understandable, however the way the front desk staff approached the situation is far from professional. As well as accusing me of smoking in my room and it smelled nothing of the sort like smoke. There was no warning call, asking politely, there was no numerous knocks on the door. She came ONE time and was very RUDE. Then to top it off I had a room that is supposed to sleep 4-6 people in the suite, how is this possible when there where no extra pillows, sheets or blankets for the pull out bed in the Couch? When checking out I spoke to the front desk clerk (Rainer) whom listened to my complaint as I I initially asked to speak to the manager which I found ironic that they "just left" at 11:00 am.. I asked her to personally check my room before I checked out and she then decided to answer the hotel phone and Help the customer on the phone instead of finishing up with my situation. This was the most disrespectful stay I have EVER had in my entire life and I will NEVER return as well as make sure to tell all my friends and family to no longer book here for there kids birthdays! This was 48 hours ago annd a manager has still yet to...
Read moreMy husband and I were taking our kids to Great America for a weekend. I called several local hotels and chose Holiday Inn because I was told by the phone agent they offered discount theme park tix at rate of $50/day pass or $80/season pass. Hooray! Reserved a suite that accommodates six ppl for our family of 5. We check in at 3:15 (check-in is 3:00)to be told our suite was not ready. I said no problem, we can go grab a bite to eat & return. I was told it still wouldn't be ready. What?? I'm assuming they overbooked it. I was asked if adjoining rooms would be ok. I said sure. Oops, she spoke too soon. None available. We wound up with two rooms next to each other. Not exactly what I had in mind for a FAMILY TRIP. But I wasn't going to make a scene about it. I asked how to go about getting the season passes to Great America. Guess what? They don't offer season passes and never have. She said I must have spoken to someone in "corporate ". Well, it was corporate Holiday Inn I felt they should honor it. No can do. Fine, I said, can I just get 5 daily passes then and we'll be on our way. NO! THEY ONLY GAVE ONE LEFT FOR THE DAY! Now I was about out of my mind. I felt as if they promised everything to get us there & then provided nothing. There was no manager available at that moment, so upon check-out I asked for one. Good thing because I had been charged two rooms at the rate of a suite! My bill was $980 for two nights. Needless to say, that is NOT what I paid! I will never, ever stay at a Hilton again. Ever. Also, the bathroom has a toothbrush left on sink and toilet paper was in bathtub. The halls had same food service trays left all weekend. On the good side, breakfast was a nice selection, tho not complimentary. The pool area was...
Read moreI stay at more hotels each year than I can count, and generally find Holiday Inns among the more consistent in terms of modernity, cleanliness, and staff. And while there is nothing in particular "bad" about this Holiday Inn, there's nothing remarkably "good" about it, either. The decor is dated and aesthetically mind-numbing. Rooms are small, and those that have two beds will find full, not queen sized mattress. The bathroom consists of a tiny sink/vanity, that doesn't offer enough room to place my shaving kit, which had to be placed on the commode. The TV is an LG, but looks to be no more than a 32" screen. There is a fictional desk, a Keurig coffeemaker, and a mini frig and microwave. I had a Caeser salad with grilled chicken at the on site restaurant, which was well stocked with chicken, and a serviceable meal on the road. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and knowledge about the area. For the most part, when I check out of an hotel, and leave neither infested with bed bugs or murdered in my sleep, I feel it was a good stay. Occasionally, I stay at a place that for some reason leaves me impressed -- be it a unique feature that I've not seen elsewhere, or a particularly strong showing of customer service -- and I make a point of staying there next time through. And occasionally, I stay at a place that for a very obvious reason -- evidence of decay, indicia of vermin, the desk clerk who puts the hostile in hospitality -- and I will vow never again to stay there. This Holiday Inn elicits neither of those feelings. It is the Chuck Wollery of hotels -- it neither offends nor inspires. Look up the word "bland" in the dictionary, where you'll find a photo of this hotel... (Not really. You'll actually find nothing but the...
