Let me begin by saying that this hotel is definitely in a great location. (Minus the part of being only a block away from the train tracks. So you have the pleasure of hearing loud train whistles. We stayed one night, more on that later, but we heard the train whistle at 11:20pm and 6:00am. I know the people running it didn't select the location near the train however I believe the rates should reflect it.) Speaking of rates, it's very overpriced based off of the aforementioned train whistle and the old, poor condition of the building. (see attached photos) The lobby is basically split into two. One side is nice and appeared to be newly renovated. However, the other side is where you enter and check in. The indoor pool is just a few steps from check in. The building is an atrium style, so all the rooms look down onto the pool. This location of the pool leaves a very musty smell throughout, including inside the rooms. I've seen atrium style hotels but never one with a pool in the center. So if you're at the pool you are on display to everyone that leaves or enters their room. It's kinda strange. Beds. Very important to most travelers. And I know that "comfort" is relative and might vary from person to person. If you enjoy laying on flat, hard plywood these beds will be great for you. We've stayed in countless hotels over the past 30 years and I can honestly say that these were the hardest, least comfortable mattresses we've ever seen. I asked if other rooms might have more comfortable mattresses and the girl at the desk said that they were all replaced last year. So they would all be the same. We requested the river side but the window was so dirty it was difficult to get a decent picture of the river. Wallpaper was falling off the wall in a couple of places in our room. The ice machine was broken on our floor so we had to go to the 1st floor. (Not sure how long it has been broken). Bathroom light switch was on the outside of the room, which I find very annoying, and it automatically turned on a very loud fan. Low water pressure in the bathroom sink and shower. There were stains on the bed sheets, I'm hoping they were chocolate or something like that. There was a good sized refrigerator in the room. AC was controlled by a thermostat rather than at the window unit. They had a decent, hot breakfast with some variety. In conclusion, we did ask to switch rooms to their other building which is newer. They told us that there were guests coming later in the week so we couldn't have those rooms. Seemed strange since we were already there but we found other, and better, accommodations for the rest of our stay anyway. My advice, don't be inticed by the location of this building, there are better options in Hannibal. Edit: response to (owner). Not sure that the (owner) was actually present during our time so that might account for inaccurate statements in their comments. We would have been unable to say "thank you for the "nice" room" when we checked in because we had not seen the room yet. Also, it was not "nice", hence our failed attempt to change rooms, and we would have never thanked anyone for it. Now, read this next part very carefully because I'm not positive that you will be able to understand. It makes you sound petty and unprofessional when you respond to all of these negative, and accurate, reviews by calling your customers liars and dilusional with statements like "supposed issues" and "I hope you find your Utopia". Did you notice that I shared pictures that support my ACTUAL issues. And we did find something closer to our "Utopia", so thank you. And, due to the moldy smell and dampness in the air, I would recommend others do the same, especially if you suffer from breathing issues such as COPD, asthma, etc. Changing my 2 Star rating to a 1 Star due to the rude response from (owner). It seems that the (owner) has deleted their original response to my review. Unfortunately you will not see how unprofessional their comments were, but you can get the idea from my response.

The hotel was very clean but our problem was with the a/c and how the staff handled it. We spent the evening walking around Hannibal and at 8pm we had gotten back to the hotel. We went to our room and dropped stuff off and it was warm. We checked the a/c turnednit down checked to make sure the fan was on high and went to hang out with our friends who their rooms were super cool temp wise. Hung out and chatted for a bit andnoff we went to our room. The room was still warm but we went to bed. On and off all night I was hot and ok hot and ok. I am dealing with menopause but this room was so uncomfortable. In the morning we went to the desk and spoke to Jadria and she was less then helpful. Jadria 1st questioned if we had the fan on I told her to come to the room which she declined but all she said is she would tell someone. I showed her pictures.... Our ac was set on 60° our room was 72°. All she said was okay. There was another woman at the desk but she said nothing. Not a comfortable night at all!! I'm not a huge complainer but come on!! She could have taken a little off the bill apologized something!! Just not really happy!!! UPDATE..... THE MANAGER DID CALL US AND APOLOGIZED AND EXPLAINED IN MORE DETAIL WHAT THE ISSUE WAS. VERY MUCH APPRECIATED HER DOING THAT! MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE

This hotel was the closest to the Cross Country meet. Amazing location with spectacular views of the Mississippi River. Literally, within walking distance of everything downtown has to offer. Maybe 15 steps away from the Mark Twain museum and other historically preserved buildings. Did not realize the hotel itself is divided into 2 separate buildings beforehand, but it wasn't like it was a million miles apart either. Had we known this on the front-end, it might've prevented our charter bus from having to awkwardly back out into the main street 🤦‍♀️🤣 I'm happy to report we made it out smoothly. We ended up getting 6 rooms between the athletes, driver, and coaching staff. Hotel staff were beyond amazing! The hotel was upscale, clean, and accommodating. Our hotel room was comfortable, clean, and quiet. A few of the athletes enjoyed their stroll around town. Definitely walkable and close proximity to restaurants, shopping, bars, and live music. There are 2 pools. One indoor and the other outdoors. Breakfast was delicious, well stocked, and plentiful. Lots of hot breakfast options to choose from. Definitely 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 worthy!!!!

AVOID AVOID AVOID!

I am a Marine veteran with a service dog. When I checked in I treated like #$@! I was asked for documentation for my service dog. This is discrimination and illegal. When I tried to tell her this, it only enraged her more and said she will throw me out. She said the paper displayed on counter was proof they are allowed to ask for documentation. I was then asked to leave the counter so she can check in other guests. I read the paper, NOWHERE does it say this. However, I showed her my dogs service badge. They took it and made a copy of it. She went on to say they will throw me out again. When I asked for her name she lied to me. Then I asked for the manager and she said she was the manager, and that was a lie. Later when the shift changed I went down to see if the real manger was there. The new girl at the counter said "I been warned about you!" When I tried to get her name she lied to me. Then she proceeded to tell me what I can and can not do with my service dog and she threaten to throw me out as well. I no longer felt safe at this place and at 2 am I called the police and waited in parking lot. Officer Myers came out and got their real names! I told him I will check into another hotel. Went to the Holiday INN, no questions were asked, treated respectfully, and went to my room. Ever since then, I always stay at the Holiday Inn. Stay away from this place and spend a little extra to be treated better at the Holiday! No one with a disability should be treated like this.

TO THE RESPONSE BELOW FROM THE HOTEL: MY SERVICE DOG IS FOR PTSD NOT SEIZURES! AND HERE IS THE POLICE REPORT NUMBER# 2022-10552. AND YOU'RE STILL LYING. PLUS YOU REFUSED TO GIVE OUR MONEY BACK WHEN WE LEFT AT 2 AM! WOW! THREE D'S AND A F FOR THIS BUSINESS. DECEITFUL, DISHONEST, DISINGENUOUS AND FRAUDULENT. IN ADDITION, YOU GOT THE WRONG DOG AND WRONG PERSON! INCOMPETENT AND INEPT BUSINESS. THIS WAS NOT A RECENT EVENT, WAS A WHILE BACK. SMH! UNBELIEVABLE! MY SERVICE DOG IS HIGHLY TRAINED AND DOES NOT BARK OR PULL. HAD HER FOR 2 YEARS AND NOT ONCE SHE EVER DO THIS! PLUS I AM NOT FEMALE, I AM A MALE! WRONG GENDER AND WRONG DISABILITY! YOUR ASSUMPTION OF WHO I WAS MAKES YOU LOOK EVEN MORE...

I honestly liked this place. First, the person greeting was a lady and she was the "boss", but a nice to the guest boss. But she had boundaries and you know where you stand. No nonsense. I can dig it. Second, the rooms. The AC works great even on the third floor of the main building. The bathrooms were good enough. Shower standard. There was a rag on the corner of the tub area that I removed to the closet area that was super dirty and kind of NASTY. But hey I miss the random things at my house and I don't have 100+ rooms to worry about. The TV lacked any channels or services and for whatever reason I could not get my phone to view through the TV so it was a random movie to fall asleep to in the background. Third, the pool. Opens at a good time and closes at a good time, but it is in the middle of the main area and they fill it with chlorine. If you happen to be allergic like a family member I have they would have a hard time breathing in the main area, which is super open and kind of 70's vibe cool. Almost the Stanley from the Shinning minus the little girls and crazy Jack. Fourth, the breakfast. Not too bad. I eat mostly meat. They have what I hope was mostly meat sausage and eggs, super bland and not a lot of option to make it much better. They also had biscuits and gravy and other normal super simple sugary treat breakfast carbs. Well the one down side was what they called coffee. I like good coffee and if you like good coffee be okay with skipping what they call coffee. The attendant that was working the breakfast space was a really nice guy. Fifth, the wifi. Or what they called the secret guest wifi. It sucked. I connected and nothing displayed like I needed things to be blocked. I am an adult, don't block my internet experience, please. So I disconnected as fast as I connected and moved on. (honestly my only true complaint about my stay) Lastly, check out was easy as the Boss was there running the ship. If you meet her you will know what I mean. NICE, KNOWS HER WORLD, DON'T MESS WITH HER. I wish every hotel could be this standard, and I mean that in the best way. Would I stay here again? Yup. And I hope that the Boss is still there otherwise that place...
