Often when travelling from California to Colorado, and on the return trip, we use the travel coupon books that you find at rest stops or restaurants. We have had mixed results when using the coupons but we struck gold with this one!||||The Economy Inn is located on Hopi Drive, near the Wigwam Motel and across the road from the Butterfield Stage Co. Steakhouse. It was advertised in the coupon book as $30.00 for two people per night. In the past when we have gone into a motel office to register for a room using these coupons, we have found that the motel would not honor the price, however, the manager at the Economy Inn was more than happy to give us a double room at the advertised price. My husband was under instruction to inspect the room before committing because we had a bad experience the previous night in a "budget" motel in Las Vegas, NM. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the room was very clean, the bathroom was large for a motel and there was a refrigerator and microwave (both new) at no extra cost. The room actually appeared to have been newly painted and it certainly did not have that musty odour of many older motels.||||The motel also had wireless internet. We did experience a few problems getting connected but the manager was extremely helpful and patient in helping us finally get the connection. ||||The bathroom was clean and the shower had excellent water pressure too!||||The only complaint I did have about the room is that the sheets seemed to be for a smaller bed and kept untucking - a very minor problem.||||The price of the room also included a continental breakfast which was minimal, but sufficient for us.||||The manager we had dealings with was personable, helpful and courteous.||||Another advantage of the Economy Inn is that it is right across the road from the Butterfield Stage Co. My husband had the a steak and I had the chicken fried steak - both were excellent. They also make a mean margarita using top quality ingredients. We didn't catch the name of the young lady who was our server, but she was just delightful - friendly, helpful, not a "hoverer" but always available when we needed her.||||All-in-all, stopping at the Economy Inn in Holbrook was a good choice for us. We recommend it for people who stay in budget accommodations but if you normally stay at the high-end hotel/motels, this may not be for you.||||Would we stay here...
Read moreMy fiancé Don Stevens is GM of Economy Inn. It is a motel built in Route 66 heyday long before construction of I-40. It is currently an extended stay motel and as of this writing is at full occupancy. There appears to be confusion with Wigwams because our phone numbers are close in listings and someone posted Wigwams photos here. Google Wigwams or look up their website for booking info. We want to be good neighbors, but please do not call the Economy Inn for Wigwams info. We have no connection at all with the Wigwams down the street. We have no information about pricing or availability. Wigwams is an iconic landmark of Route 66 and inspiration for Cozy Cones in Disney’s Cars animated movies. We do not take reservations for the Wigwams. We do not take reservations for Economy...
Read moreIf you're looking just for a place to stay overnight at a discounted price, this is your place. Although this place does not offer many additional features or services it remains inexpensive. I would suggest it for those who plan on spending most of their time outdoors and go to the motel just to refresh and rest. If you are planning on spending a lot of time in the room this might not be the place for you unless you want to save money because theese rooms do need renovation. I was willing to endure the less than desirable surroundings due to the savings this place offered. At the time of my visit this motel had the lowest prices I could find...
