If you’re looking for petrified wood, rainbow rock shop is the place for you! located right on Navajo Boulevard in downtown Holbrook just over the bridge going to Highway 40 the old man who owns the shop has accumulated piles, mountains of petrified wood of all sizes and types. It is a treasure hunt to go find the piece that speaks to you! So much fun! A great experience for families with children, because the kids can look and find their own special piece of petrified wood and not break mom and dad‘s wallet! Tiny pieces can be pennies larger pieces could be hundreds of thousands of dollars (very large pieces). most of the inventory is in raw pieces that are unfinished, uncut, and unaltered. inside the shop, there are many pieces of jewelry versus other fossils, polished and cut pieces of petrified wood and many other unexpected “treasures“. No matter how you cut it. This is a pretty fun place.

Not sure how some of these Route 66 places stay in business but I'm sure glad they do!! Rainbow Rock Shop is a relic, just like the dinosaurs all around the outside! The dinosaurs are huge but then so are the piles upon piles of petrified wood and other rocks surrounding the building. I believe my husband was grateful they were closed, he seemed to relax a bit more as we strolled around the perimeter!! I definitely would have loved to get my hands on some of the fine specimens they had just laying in the dirt! Everywhere we looked it said they were open the afternoon we drove through town but unfortunately it was all locked up and no sign of anybody around. Since we found it on Roadside Attractions, we treated it as such and just enjoyed the unique dinosaurs and a chance to stretch our legs! Perhaps some day we'll return and one of the beautiful rocks will come home with me!

I recently visited the Rainbow Rock Shop and, unfortunately, the shop was closed when I got there. Despite this, the visit was still worthwhile because of the fantastic dinosaur statues outside. These life-sized models are fun to see, making for a great roadside attraction. Even though I couldn’t explore the shop itself, the dinosaur statues provided a unique and entertaining experience. If you’re passing through, it’s definitely worth stopping by to check out these impressive sculptures. Hopefully, next time I’ll get a chance to visit the shop as well!

My daughter and I were traveling through an decided to stop here before leaving town. We met an talked with the owner Adam Luna/Moon and made a memory that will last a lifetime. What a sweet human being; what a special place to stop and share in someone’s lifetime memories. We are cold weather travelers to cut down on crowds; but still the best time to stop through all Indian territory shops, or the National Parks to catch the vendors with their wares. Covid and cold weather have really put a hurt to their survival. I’m always glad to help what I can and hope that I have along the way made their life better if only for the moment. Thank you Adam Luna/Moon and all the others we have met along the way that made our travels the best one could ever...
