My stay at the Best Western was pretty average. Don’t get me wrong, the rooms are clean but I didn’t enjoy the smell it had once the cleaning scent died down. The breakfast was the same throughout my 3 day stay. It would have been nice to have options available but it wasn’t. You get the same exact breakfast items each day, no switch ups what so ever. They offer 1 waffle maker which was a bit insane due to the traffic that comes to this hotel since it’s extremely close to the airport.
The also had pre-made egg omelettes, sausage links, biscuit, Coco Puffs, Fruity Pebbles, Raisin Brain or Corn Flakes (if Raisin Brain is out), wheat/white bread, blueberry muffins (only), unpopular yogurt, and milk (that seems to run out quickly with barely refills), oatmeal packs you can buy from the grocery store, and a coffee machine that only provides regular or decaf.
This is their every day selection no matter what. If you want to spend money they do have a Waffle House that’s literally right next door. Not to mention breakfast is from 6AM - 9AM, Monday’s - Friday’s, but somehow they always manage to stop stocking food at 8AM. Which makes plenty of people wait around for food all because they like to stop breakfast an hour early which isn’t fair.
On weekends, breakfast is from 7AM - 10AM and let's just say you better be there before 9AM or else you’re screwed. Let’s not even get into the only drinks they offer which is Apple Juice and orange juice. The apple juice always has this disgusting particles floating around in your cup. No matter how many times you make yourself a drink it’s there, right along with the clunky particles that floats around in the orange juice.
It appears as though the spout of the juice machine needs extreme cleaning because I’ve never experienced any machine like it. I understand that this isn’t a 5 star hotel but I’ve been to other Best Western’s in different states and man let me tell you, the luxurious rooms and over selection of breakfast would have you feel as though you’d been staying at a 5 star hotel.
I been to some amazing and outstanding Best Western’s where 60” LG TVs are in the rooms, a beautiful walk in glass shower, pastries, mini waffles, big waffles, Greek yogurt with over 6 different toppings, over 5 selections on drinks, bacon, sausage patties, gravy with meat, grits, oatmeal, different selections of muffins, cinnamon bagels, regular bagels, blueberry bagels, white/wheat bread, brown sugar, you name it! Man what an experience!
Not only do they offer such magnificent breakfast at these other Best Western’s, the bar stays fully stock until breakfast is over. One of my favorite Best Western stays would have to be the one in Marietta, Georgia. The Ball Park Best Western. You guys have to check it out. It’s an amazing hidden gem! I expect that experience each time I book a stay at any Best Western because they set the bar for them all.
I can’t say you get what you pay for when it comes to the Best Western IAH because even the stay in Marietta was the same price. But I do feel as though the IAH Best Western should step their game up to offer a better experience. Thanks...
Read moreWhile we had to request a different room due to an offensive odor in the first assigned room, we were pleased that we were moved to another room which did not have the offending order. Unfortunately, it seemed that a new television had been put in the room which we were moved to and had to go to check-in area to request a remote for the television. The person who assisted us was very helpful and even came to our room to program the remote for us. I would have preferred for their to be an icemaker on each floor. However, the elevators were quick and we had no issue accessing the icemaker on a lower floor. The bundled price to stay at this location and have parking was a good value. There is also a waffle house adjacent to property which is very convenient. We were a little disappointed in the time that the airport pickup shuttle came to pick us up at the airport. The first time we needed to be picked up, we waited for over 30 min and ended up taking a cab instead back to the hotel. Upon returning, we called and requested a pickup and the shuttle van again took over 30 min to pick up though we were told it would be approximately 15 min. Since we were returning from our trip, we didn't have a strong deadline to meet so we were able to wait longer than we preferred to. However, the driver was quite nice and assisted us with our bags. We were glad to find that our vehicle was in good shape and nothing had happened to it while we were away on our trip. We had never parked at a hotel for extended parking so we were reluctant to try it. We were pleased we had no issues when we returned to pick up...
Read moreThe room smelled musty and had mold growing in the framed picture hanging on the wall. The biggest issue was being charged for a room I didn't stay in. I stayed in Mid March for two nights. When I checked in the desk person commented that I had reservations for two rooms. I said no, I don't need two rooms that must be a mistake. When I got home and checked my bank statement I had been charged for two rooms. I called the hotel and was told to call corporate. I called corporate and they said there was nothing they could do and to call the hotel back. I called the hotel back and was told the owner was out of the office until a certain time so I left a message. Of course he never called me back. I called corporate back and they told me it was non refundable after 24 hours before my stay. What? If I had know, of course I would have cancelled and been refunded but I didn't know until I arrived. I thought the receptionist would have helped me but she didn't offer and I thought all was fine. The corporate office said I had numerous reservations under my name.. Did I make them? Who knows. But seriously did you not thing it was a mistake or were you just thinking, " take advantage of a senior lady?" Get paid for a room no one stayed in, no cleaning fees! I always liked Best Westerns and they were clean and safe but no more and I will tell this story to all who will listen. Very poor...
