Memorial Park in the heart of Houston is a peaceful and serene escape from the city’s hustle and bustle. This spot is perfect for hiking and immersing yourself in nature. If you're lucky, you might even spot adorable armadillos! The park is full of life, with plenty of birds, playful squirrels, and turtles swimming in the lake. There’s also a sign warning about alligators, though I didn’t see any, but it's nice to know they might be nearby. This was my first time exploring this part of the park, and I absolutely loved it. Nice (air-conditioned!) visitor center, playground, and scattered benches and shady spots help if you have kids or get tired or hot. Not all trails are wheelchair accessible.
