Reserved 2 rooms for my mother’s funeral. I arrived first so checked in for both rooms. Noticed only 2 towels in each room so went to desk & waited for them to give me the missing towels. Went back to rooms & noticed there were no bath “mats” on either tub. Back to front desk & stood around for 17 mins waiting on these. People were coming to check in and no one at desk. Rec’d mats & took one to each room (#106 & 107). Was getting ready to go wash my car for funeral and was using the restroom right before leaving. A man opened my room door about 6 inches & looked inside. I was on the toilet but could see him in the mirror. I screamed and he started to shut the door, then opened it again and stuck his head inside & looked around. I screamed again and he shut the door. I jumped off toilet and ran to door but he was gone. Wasn’t in hallway, probably went out the exit door which was right by my room. In the hall was the guy who had checked me in. He just got off work and was leaving. I told him what happened and we looked around for the peeping tom. Found the exit door had no lock on it. Anyone could walk in without a hotel room card, door didn’t even latch. In hallway, part of the carpet was missing, some of the wall studs were exposed, the pool wasn’t operational (no water in it). Peeping tom was white guy, light hair (gray or white-ish) & wore a hat. Looked around the hotel, still didn’t see him. There were some construction guys around but desk said none fit that description. I wanted to change rooms bc my daughter was staying in 2nd room with my granddaughters and I didn’t feel safe since door didn’t lock. Was shown rooms on 3rd floor, they were not acceptable. Things like the bathtub being dirty, the bathroom door wouldn’t move (stuck against the floor), carpet filthy, etc. Finally agreed to Rooms 418 & 421. Rooms on that floor were still being cleaned and thought they’d remove the bags of garbage they had laying around plus vacuum hallway. Had to go back down to 1st floor and move stuff to the new rooms. Finally got to go wash my car. Back to hotel and room attendants were gone but garbage had been left in hallway, piled by elevator. Elevator floor was filthy, elevator buttons were nasty. The next morning there was even another big bag of trash on the elevator. The bathtubs in both of our rooms didn’t drain properly. The bottom of the tub was curved or mis-formed which meant water remained in the bottom of the tub. I showered first and the bottom of the tub was slimy. This is from the water which stands in the tub. Gross. The grout was black around the tub. The bathroom counter hadn’t been cleaned from previous use. There was one roll of toilet paper and it was only about half full. The carpet everywhere was filthy, not dirty but filthy. The hallway looked like it hadn’t even been vacuumed for months. Walls in hallway were recently painted but everything else was gross. Toilet was dirty. Grout around the toilet was missing in places and toilet rocked. Shower escutcheon was down the shower rod about 3”, the grout that was around it was all cracked and had turned loose from the escutcheon. There was supposed to be 3 pics over the sofa but one was missing. Hallway on 4th floor was miserably hot. I made pics of several things at the hotel bc it was so bad. Hvac grills were rusted. Nasty around water connection to toilet and under sink area. Looked like the faucet insink or tub hadn’t been cleaned in years. Same for the shower head and tub spout. Sink counter was broken and sharp granite edges were exposed. I brushed my teeth and when rinsing out sink, water would drip on my foot so the grout for the undermounted sink must be missing. The next morning, breakfast was pitiful. There’s a machine holding the waffle mix but one side was broken. One of the waffle irons were broken. There were two sugar-y cereals, a few muffins and some dried out pastries. With the hotel being filty, we weren't sure of the food prep area. I did see several people walk in and out of the prep area. One girl would come out and look at the food. Another guy came in with backpack and ate some breakfast, then went into prep area. Later I saw this same guy pushing a cart of garbage out the side door of the hotel to the dumpster. Another guy walked in and out of the prep area, possibly another employee. And no one wore gloves in the food prep area. We elected to eat elsewhere. My husband had gone downstairs early to go fill up with gas. He saw what appeared to be a homeless man come in and eat breakfast. This guy was dressed fully in camo and had on a hat. He had white/gray hair. He ate then left. About 2 hours later, I was downstairs and this same man pulled in the parking lot, came in the hotel, walked down the first floor hallway. I thought he could be the peeping tom so went down the hallway to see him closer but he'd disappeared. Walked back to the lobby and he was in his car leaving. Apparently he went out the back door and walked around hotel to his car. I told the front desk about him and they said they didn’t know anything about him. Asked if he was homeless or hung around hotel, they said they didn’t know. But they did call him “the army guy” so possibly they were familiar with him. He could be the peeping tom. I’d stayed at this hotel several times previously but it was a couple of years ago. It has definitely gone downhill quickly. Had we been able to find rooms elsewhere, we’d have left but there was a Jehovah Witness Convention in town and hotels were full. I spoke to the front desk again on Friday morning (when we checked out) about these issues and they wrote down my name & room numbers. Supposedly they were going to talk to management about the issues (peeping tom, lack of cleanliness, lack of security, etc.) but other people kept coming up to the desk and the guy I was talking to (black guy probably in his 20-30s, twisted hair) was distracted. The guy that checked me in & helped me look for the peeping tom was a black guy in his 20-30s with close cropped hair. I didn’t see him Friday when we checked out. I will say there must have been another issue at the hotel because the Huntsville Police arrived while I was at the desk and an officer with a notepad was waiting to speak to the desk attendant. Had I not been headed to my mother’s funeral, I would have stayed & spoken to the officer. Overall, our stay was horrible. Comfort Suites should refund our...
Read moreI recently stayed at this hotel for two nights, and unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. For context, I have Lupus, a medical condition that makes it difficult for me to be in the sun due to severe flare-ups triggered by UV radiation. As a result, I sleep during the day and stay awake at night. Additionally, I was dealing with the recent loss of a family member during my stay, which made this experience all the more difficult.
The first night seemed promising. The room was spacious and well-maintained, and the staff initially appeared friendly. However, the elevators were in poor condition and felt unsafe. Despite these minor issues, I was optimistic about my stay.
The problems began the following day when, at around noon, hotel staff entered my room without permission while I was asleep. They informed me I had 15 minutes to vacate, which was both alarming and confusing. After calling the front desk, I was told I could extend my stay by rebooking and paying another deposit, which I did. However, waking up to strangers in my room was unsettling, to say the least.
That night, I had a friend stay with me, and my uncle also visited briefly. The next morning, I was woken up again by hotel staff entering my room without notice. My friend informed me that a man and woman entered and demanded we vacate within 15 minutes, even though the room was in perfect condition, and I had done nothing to violate their policies. This pattern of intrusion was invasive and unprofessional.
To make matters worse, during the initial intrusion, one of the staff members insinuated I might be on drugs because I was difficult to wake up. This comment was offensive and completely unwarranted, as my sleep schedule is directly tied to my medical condition.
I cannot ignore the possibility that bias played a role in how I was treated, as my friend is Black, and I am white. Regardless, the way I was treated was unacceptable and dehumanizing. I felt judged and mistreated for no reason. Even though most of the staff I encountered were polite, these incidents overshadowed any positive aspects of my stay.
As someone with medical challenges and dealing with emotional stress, I was deeply hurt by the lack of compassion and professionalism from this hotel. Their actions felt intrusive, insensitive, and discriminatory. I will never stay at this hotel again, and I strongly advise others to avoid it, especially if you have unique medical needs or are going through a difficult time. No guest deserves to be treated with...
Read moreHotel was dirty and unkempt. I have chosen to stay at Choice Hotels for the last 9 years as I have traveled with wife and four children. I usually prefer Comfort suites if I can find a room available. This was the worst Comfort Suites we have ever stayed at. And we stayed at this same location a year prior to this stay. It went downhill. As soon as you step off elevator on the 3rd and 4th floors the carpet is just filthy. Looks like carpet has never been cleaned. On the 3rd floor there were food crumbs in the corner near the elevator. The ice machine was not working on the 4th floor where we were staying so we had to go to the 3rd floor for ice. There were trash bags stacked up in the corner of the room by the ice machine. In our room there was stains all over the floor just like the hallway. The ice bucket was nasty and had something all over the inside of the lid. The wiring to the a/c unit was spliced and electrical tape wrapped around it. It was sticking out in the floor. The room looked like it had not been vacuumed recently. I found open soap wrapper on the shelf under the sink with the clean towels. There was only one wash rag in the room for a room capable of holding six people. There was what appeared to be spots of blood on the blanket on one of the beds. I feel like I am probably forgetting something. We were returning from a trip to Ohio on our way back to Florida. We were extremely tired and just wanted to get some sleep. Aside from the dirty blanket the rest of the linens on the beds seemed ok so we just got some sleep and got up early for breakfast. After everything else we were looking forward to breakfast only to be disappointed again. Everything was either extremely low of completely out. There was someone working but they were just sitting in the back room on their phone. We stayed long enough for one child to eat a waffle and one to eat a bowl of cereal then we left. Nothing was ever restocked. We were there about 7:30. And to top it off the pool was shut down. We will never stay at this location again. I will recommend for anyone I know to steer clear of this location. I have pictures but it never give an option to...
