Nice place, a little out of town. Entrance is attractive, grounds are generally quite nice and well kept. It's a large place so to get around some walking will be involved, the house keeping staff all get about in cars with back of the cars full of towels and such. The actual rooms are attractive and often cabin like, there seemed to be singles, duplexes and small blocks of rooms. ||I didn't try the restaurant, less a cup of hot chocolate. I thought there might be a few people there, but it was empty, probably because it was between breakfast and lunch. Fellow there was nice and friendly.||Our room was a duplex type, quite large actually, the other half of the duplex was much smaller. Room was clean and decorated nice enough. ||The drawbacks we're little and might not be applicable to every visitor, but the combination set the place back a bit in my opinion. ||Our room had a nice gas stove fireplace thing that seemed brand new,,. but didn't work. The pilot worked, but no flame. I called the desk and they seemed aware and it was "something they were working on". and "sometimes it takes a long time". It would have been nice touch for the evening if it worked : ) ||Had a cool jacuzzi tub, but took about 1/2 hour or more to modestly fill.||Grounds are a bit spread out as suggested and ice is apparently only available at the restaurant... when it's open, and it was closed (before 8pm) when I went looking. Ice bucket was tiny and it's a hike to the restaurant from some rooms. This is not good. ||Game room was fun, but some games in a bit of disrepair. We didn't have time to check out the pool area. ||Bed is more a personal preference, very soft and then firm, not a preference for us. ||Our duplex might have been a prefab or something, sound carried through the floor a lot. ||Overall, a good place, I would generally recommend. Just a few things that could and should be addressed and a few that might have been unique to...

We stayed at Tahquitz in cabin 23 which is right across their main office. The entire retreat is very dark at night and there are no lights illuminating even the cabin number. We reached after office hours and it took us a good 20 mins to figure out the cabin we were in. Apparently it took our friends longer to find theirs .
The shower is extremely small & was broken from the second we entered the roomā¦A steady stream of water was leaking all the time. We called reception first thing in the morning and while we were out, the maintenance person tightened the knob so much that we could not turn it in the afternoon when we wanted to shower after a hot hike. It took forever to send him back and though he apologized profusely, it truly was a hassle to wait.
After thatā¦.the sink tap completely broke & started leaking. What a mess!!Unfortunately this was at night and again we had to wait till morning. It didnāt affect us directly and there was no water leaking into the rooms from both the shower or sink, but I cannot imagine the shoddy way the work is done.
The maintenance guy Mike was Atleast apologetic, but absolutely no one from the reception apologized for the inconvenience or called us after that. The ladies couldnāt be bothered. We were there 3 days and that room had trouble all 3 days and not one lady (including Rachel who checked us in) was even remotely apologetic.
Horrible customer service.
If you have the bad luck of getting a crappy room, donāt expect them to do...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was not given the room that I booked on Expedia. I chose a King Cabin 4 Guest room and after checking in and going into the room, I saw that it was an Executive King room. I went right to the office and told them that this is not the room I chose, that there are many different descriptions of rooms available with the photos of what the room itself looked like and I specifically booked the King Cabin because of its size and features. The woman at the front desk, Rachel just said I am sorry but the room you chose has already been checked into and there was nothing else she could do, she did nothing more to amend the situation. She said to email the manager, Nicole Harding to see if there was anything she could do to compensate me for the mistake. I emailed the manager right away regarding the issue, and it was not until almost 48 hours later that she responded to my email. Very dissatisfied. I feel that because I used Expedia rewards to book this room, they treated me like I should just "take what I am given" and treated us like second class citizens. The mistreatment continued after check out, was told we could use the pool the day of check out & that the access code I was given for the room would still be valid for the pool. No! they locked the code on us and could not enter. When I went to the front desk to ask for a temporary code, they called the manager, Nicole to get one and she told them we were not allowed to use the pool. I felt...
