EDIT : I am adding back one star, bringing it to 4 stars. The Manager contacted me within MINUTES of my review posting and offered to resolve the issue by putting a credit back to my card and switching the payment to the intended card. I was informed switching cards is no problem and is done frequently, so he's not sure why the issue occurred. While I had already made the payment to my student tuition credit card so there was no sense in switching the payment, the great customer service was refreshing. I am still only providing 4 stars as the issue shouldn't have happened to begin with and the pool experience was very lacking with no supervision of children running around wildly, but I will bring it from 3/5 to 4/5 and I will be returning for future stays.
Room was fine, view was okay, paid for upper floor and did get 6th floor corner room although choosing 7th floor would have been a nice option. Pool and hot tub were nice and clean, but unsupervised. Kids were running around wildly, jumping in and out of the hot tub screaming and running in and out of bathrooms. It really ruined the calming pool and spa experience for me and my girlfriend. The room itself was very clean, the bed was moderately comfortable, and there wasn't too much noise from surrounding rooms.
So why did I take off 2 stars aside from the pool issue? This is because of how they charged me. Upon check in I had forgotten the credit card I wanted to use in my car. They do require any card at check in just to have one on file, but made it very clear I could switch the card on file any time before I left. 10 minutes before check out I head up to the front desk and ask if I can switch my card on file to the one I originally wanted and take my other credit card off. The woman at the front desk said that wasn't a problem, checked my ID, swiped my new card, and handed me a receipt. All seemed fine. Until the next day when I realized my bank still hadn't been charged. I checked the first credit card I presented and sure enough, they didn't change the card info. They charged the first card and put it over it's credit limit(it's a card I used for my Summer college tuition so it was already near maxed). What was done with the second card I gave them? It was a moderately lengthy process to supposedly put my card in the system, yet they didn't even use it to pay the bill. This was inconvenient, made no sense, and now I have a credit card well past it's limit. Didn't completely ruin the experience, but it was definitely...
Read moreWe stayed here on September 7th. We were just stopping for the evening to sleep on our way to South Dakota. We have stayed at multiple Drury Inns as they our one of our favorite places to stay. In fact when we were moving from Kansas to Illinois in 2006 we stayed in a Drury Inn for almost a month as we searched for a place to live and enjoyed our time immensely! Talk about an extended vacation for me and the children while my husband went off to work each day and house hunting on the weekends. Anyhow, back to the stay on the 7th. We arrived and the hotel staff was plesant enough. We were exhausted after a long drive and just wanted to lay our heads down to sleep as we were going to get up early, eat breakfast and head out. We opened our hotel door and were hit with the worst smell ever. I'm will admit I'm super sensitive to odors. You could tell someone had definitely had been smoking in this room and then it had tried to be covered up with something. I wanted to call down and see if we could switch rooms, but my husband was tired, I was tired and we both decided if we could just stick it out. I was nauseated all night and extremely happy to pack up and leave the next morning. I will say that this is a magnificent and super nice Drury Inn. The hot breakfast was terrific, the staff were all polite and went out of their way to be helpful and friendly. I only wish our room had not smelled and this would have been one of the best experiences we had ever had at a Drury Inn. We will continue to be loyal Drury Inn customers and hopefully next time I will not be to exhausted to change rooms if our room smells as bad as this one did. Tell your staff, especially the breakfast staff and the outside maintenance that their friendliness and cheerfulness is one reason we keep...
Read moreI won't stay here again. The furniture is nice - late 90s to early 2000s probably. The housekeeping staff seems nice but the front desk staff is snobby and pretentious. The hallways have that "old urine" smell that I associate with nursing homes. The hot tub had bodily fluids and oil floating on the water. The room was spotlighted all night and the curtains don't quite close. But the kicker for me is that the room thermostats don't actually control the room's HVAC -- they're monitored by the front desk instead. I know because I have hot flashes and the room was too hot for me to sleep. With the thermostat set to 67°F, the room temp was 72°F and the airless room was muggy, so I reset the thermostat to 60° to get air moving. It popped right back up to 67°. I did it again and it did it again. I tried switching from "cool" to "fan" -- switched right back. I called the front desk for help and, instead of just admitting the front desk controls the thermostat so what I set it at was irrelevant, they first tried to tell me I don't know how a thermostat works, then they brought me a fan to shut me up. By 2AM the room was finally out of the 70s but by 7AM it was once again too muggy to sleep. Hubby tried to resolve my complaint at the front desk this AM and the desk clerk called him weird before finally admitting they're monitoring rooms from the front desk. I can buy food and drinks anywhere but with some guy I don't even know controlling my surroundings while I sleep, this hotel is both creepy and...
