Saints Pub + Patio Independence — Restaurant in Independence

If I could rate this no stars I would. I walked in there on a Sunday at 12pm. There were plenty of open tables and bar stools. Bartender was standing behind bar chatting with another server. Several servers saw me but ignored me, and the other customer waiting at the hostess stand. After 10 mins, I walked to the bar and sat at an empty stool. Bartender saw me but did not come over to take my drink order. After sitting there for 5 mins without being acknowledge, I walked over to a server ringing in an order. She informed me that they were on a 30 min wait. I went back to the hostess stand and was put on the waiting list. I responded with, "I'll be at the bar." My friend showed up and we sat at one of the dozen or so open bar tables. The manager came up to us and said we can't sit there and that we would not be served anything for 30 mins. I asked why? She said they were "slammed!" I was in complete disbelief; I looked around and did not see a single server hussling, and the bartender was standing around chatting with the server still. I told her we would gladly wait to order food if the kitchen was backup but wondered why we couldn't even get a drink since the bartender looked availableto serve us. She flat out refused, stating again there was a 30 min wait. By this time, 20 mins had gone by since I put my name in with the hostess. Coming from someone who is also in the service industry, I know how hard it is to find people who want to do their job well and be friendly while doing it. We came before The Mavericks game on Wednesday evening (April 17th) around 4:30 in the afternoon. At this time, it was "seat yourself" per the sign at the front entrance. While we usually like bar side, we decided on a more quiet area for our pre game since we were going to be in a crowd later on that night. We sat in Susanna's section (I hope I am spelling her name correctly), she was the absolute SWEETEST! Not only great service, she was quick, friendly, effcient, and was not pushy during the end of our visit when it was time to pay. She was lovely, and we will request her during out next visit if she is available. We ordered buffalo boneless wings with homemade ranch dressing for an app. Simple beer and mixed drink for our beverages. For our entrees, we had a classic burger cooked to our liking, and the Loco Wrap, and both were awesome. Cooked to perfection, great flavor, loved all of the homemade sauce options. We also recieved fries and waffle fries as our sides, and they were both beer battered and soooo tasty. Loved the large water and soda that you recieve, we are thirsty people, so that was just an added plus, lol. We will definitley return, and tell our friends and family! Love visiting this location when I am in the area. Yesterday did not disappoint. Brought my sister and my niece in for the first time and they both loved the food and service just as much as I do. We compare this place to another local KC area restaurant and my niece stated that they waffle fries here are better than the other restaurant. Everything we ordered was hot and fresh and delicious. We had the White Queso with chips. I had the Patio Club. The bacon was really crispy, and the Texas toast was the good buttery crunchy type of bread like a good grilled cheese sandwich. Ordered the Saint Burger. Hot fresh and juicy. And finally, the Pretzel Bacon. The smack sauce is what makes the burger. Onion tanglers are crispy and fun to eat. I unfortunately didn’t get the name of our server yesterday, but she was a delight. She made sure we were taken care of the whole time we were at the restaurant. Drinks come served in large I would say almost 32oz cups. So unless you are really thirsty you won’t have to worry about getting a lot of refills, although I am sure the staff will be right there if you need one. There is bar seating if you prefer. Clean restrooms and ample parking. The restaurant also has high top tables, regular booths that most can seat 6, as well as large booths for bigger families.
