Where to even start. ||Upon arrival, we were shocked by walking into a party in the lobby with adults drinking, cussing, and being very loud. That would not be a huge issue if their kids were not running around the whole building, unattended. Thankfully we had a box fan with us! ||When we entered our room, we were overcome by the stench of smoke coming from the bathroom. It smelled like a LITERAL ASHTRAY. ||A few steps further and we noticed we were not even in the right room type. We rang the front desk and were informed by the clerk that management way above him loaded pictures of the best looking room, even though it was not the correct room (false advertisement?) because it looked better. We also informed him of the smoke smell and his response was, "ok". ||Later we ran water in the bathroom sink and it did not drain. Once again, we rang the clerk. He came with a plunger and coat hanger, gave it a few plunges, and stated it was fixed. However, it continued to drain very slowly. ||After being out all day the next day, we came back to a room that had not been touched. Once again, we spoke with the same clerk who told us they are short on housekeeping (we know, most places are), and the staff they did have was older and it was hard for them to do a lot of bending and housekeeping related tasks. Um....? Ok? If we wanted clean towels, we could bring the dirty ones down, and get clean ones. ||The morning f check out the general manager was at the front desk. I stopped to speak with him about the issues we'd experienced and he had no idea what I was referring to (or so he said). He stated he did not have time to speak with me, could I come back later. WOW! SERIOUSOLY?! ||I attempted to speak with him at a later time, stood at the desk and waited for him for 10 minutes and had to leave. ||No attempt to reconcile. No resolve. ||We will NEVER stay here again. And I would encourage you to look...
Read moreThe girl "Jazmine" at the front desk on Saturday morning was rude and unprofessional. I walked up to the counter at 9:30 a.m. to ask why the pool wasn't open yet and I had to tap on the desk to get her to lift her head up as she was laying on the counter apparently sleeping. She informed me that the pool would be open at 10:00. I asked her why when the sign said it opened at 9:00 a.m. she said she didn't have the key to open it she had to wait for a manager to come in at 10:00 to open it. I then ran across Melissa and Jade in the hallway as I was going back to my room and express to them that it was ridiculous that the pool was not open at 9:00 a.m. when check out is at 11:00. Melissa went and grabbed a key and opened the pool right up. She had no idea what Jasmine was talking about. She said she would look into it and have the Pool opened for us. That she did, she was very good at doing what she was doing and her and Jade were busting their butts well the front desk girl was asleep not moving. As I was walking past the front desk about 10 minutes later, she decided to wait until I got almost out the door and confront me about talking to her coworkers about her. Telling me that I didn't have to be rude and tell her co-workers that she had an attitude. I turned around and had a confrontation with her and told her that she works there I am the guest and she will never talk to me like that again. She is very disrespectful and lazy and I never seen her move once. Much props to Melissa and Jade for keeping that hotel in order. In addition to Tom on the midnight shift. He was very welcoming and very friendly. We enjoyed his company throughout the night. These are the people that need a raise and some great...
Read moreChecking in was the worst experience I have ever had in any hotel anywhere - and I'm 75 years old so, that says a lot. When I arrived at 7:15 PM there was no one in the lobby. No sign on the desk about being right back in a few minutes or saying what time that would be. So, I looked all over the lobby area and down the hallway and saw no one. I yelled out hello several times and got no reply. After about three minutes I opened a door next to the desk that said "employees only," so I yelled hello again and got no answer.
When I closed the door, a woman came around the corner and said in a very nasty tone; "Did you open that door!?" I said, "Yes, I did but I didn't go in." She said I wasn't supposed to be in there. I said I didn't go in. She said she had to go to the bathroom. But again, nothing at the desk saying when she'd return. I would have been happy with an apology from her for not doing so but she was rude, disrespectful, and had a very angry attitude during the rest of the check in process. This was NOT what I expected as a Choice Privileges member or for any hotel guest for that matter!!
Additionally, the area in and around our room (#110) looked bad. Paint was pealing on the wall of our room next to the TV and there was a large tear in the rug in the hallway. I'm happy to send pictures if needed.
I expect to know how Choice Hotels will make this unpleasant experience right for me but if nothing is done, I'll be switching to another hotel chain's loyalty program.
