I was looking for a hotel within 10 or so miles from downtown that wasn't too pricey, and I chose this one based on the reviews. It was a mixed bag. First, it's undergoing renovations. The rooms have been updated and are very clean and comfortable. They're still working on the elevators and only one is operational. Not a huge issue for me but not exactly welcoming either. Breakfast was the same plasticky eggs, potatoes, and sausages every day. There were a couple options for fruit and yogurt. The coffee was incredibly weak and the breakfast area itself was a little cramped. I didn't use the bar but it didn't appear to be anything to write home about either. The biggest problem by far, though, was the noise. I expect thin walls and road noise at an older property but the constant door slamming was a deal breaker. I lost count of the number of times I was jarred awake. On a positive note, I think the staff at this hotel is excellent. They were all very kind and accommodating. I didn't use the shuttle service so I can't comment on that, but all in all I have nothing but good things to say about the people working there. They left a note under my door reminding me about the change to daylight savings time which I thought was a very professional thing to do. Honestly, I'm not sure if I'd stay here again. It's probably a fine location to crash for one night but all the little things added up over a few days. It's your typical mid-level hotel (3 stars is pushing it) in an industrial park surrounded by potholes and little else. I'd probably spend a little more and stay elsewhere.

Wow this is an low quality Hyatt Place. First, the thermostat was broken which causes the room to heat to over 90° when I walked in. The display on the thermostat said it was 63° in the room. Definitely not 63° when I was made to sweat like a sauna. I had to set the thermostat to 58° to trigger the air conditioning and even then it was intermittent at best and never got comfortable. Also the refrigerator made a loud noise every 20 seconds which did not help my sleep. Lastly, the internet was EXTREMELY SLOW. I couldn't back up any of my photos from the day over there WiFi. I took a screenshot of the internet speed test while in the room. There certainly needs to be some upgrades to the WiFi system. I won't be coming back unless there are major enhancements. This place makes me both happy and sad. The rooms were clean, the staff was friendly, the morning breakfast was ok. The restaurant food was lackluster, but they tried. The bar was the saddest part of the hotel. I ordered a cocktail thinking it would be freshly made. To my surprise it was a pre made bottle of unhappiness. I took 2 sips of my drink and decided my inners didn’t need the bleach cleaning the drink was giving. They should really make it clear when selling their signature drinks that they are sad bottles of pre made disappointment. My poor alcoholic heart would stay some where else next time. On the bright side, service was as friendly as possible and you can tell they are really trying.

This hotel should not have the name Hyatt Place as it just does not match the other Hyatt Places. We considered leaving and trying to find a different hotel, but we just didn't have time to search/find and go through the whole process of inspecting (inspecting for bed bug issues before we stay in a room) another hotel room with the wedding weekend (sister's wedding) by the time we were there.||1) our room looked a lot older than the pictures. The super noisy, loud vibrating HVAC/window unit made that pretty clear too. It was so loud you couldn't sleep, so we'd turn it off and then wake up hot. This unit must be old and not working right. I question the safety of that unit in the room.||2) the toilet didn't want to flush. It was around 11pm when we realized this and my husband knew what it needed/saw what was wrong when he looked inside, so he had to press something inside the tank to fix it/get it to flush and then it worked again. If we called/asked the desk, they probably would've said no maintenance person til the morning and we were busy then/needed to use it obviously/he knew what needed to be done. But, it shouldn't need that- the toilet should work well or be replaced.||3) the breakfast did not have the oatmeal that all the Hyatt Places have- this was another reason we booked another Hyatt Place because my husband really likes to keep his normal breakfast/has dietary restrictions with travel/limited options and he's stayed at other Hyatt Places for work where he ate taht, so we booked this for my sister's wedding travel/trip on purpose to get him that.||4) did not have microwave- I called and asked, was told it had it in the room and I needed it for medical reasons which was why I called ahead of booking to ask. The shared common area one in the breakfast part was not suitable for medical use mostly due to cleanliness reasons, so this caused issues for me for the weekend trip.||5) it was not as clean of room as the other Hyatt Places we've been in and there were holes around the pipes in walls for the sink/shower/toilet- the wall was not cleanly cut for the pipe- it was too big of hole and you could see into the wall- this is not very comforting to see (who knows on rodent/pest issue risk), and some of the baseboard/carpet thing up against the wall was peeled back/pulling off. ||6) bed was lumpy/uneven- it had a very clear downward dip in large parts of places of it.||The only good I can really say is we survived (some screaming, noisy people in a room next to us too) and the shower was always hot, which some hotels that can be an issue.||This place doesn't live up to the Hyatt Place name. Maybe airport locations don't try as hard because many people are coming in for just 1 night and maybe not paying as much...

My husband and I stayed here for the Indy 500. My first impression in the lobby and dining area that it was a very nice, modern property. But once we got our keys and got to our floor, it was far from modern.

Everything seemed very… dated. I’m talking like late 80s early 90s. Hallways smelled off. Fixtures in hallways and rooms were old. I can go on. Carpeting was dated too.

However. The king bed seemed to be new and was very comfortable. Kudos on putting real feather pillows in the room, though.

The food for breakfast was alright, I’ve heard it was amazing from reviews on here, but honestly it was pretty standard. How can you put out French toast sticks with no syrup?! We had dinner there once after the race and actually, it was pretty good. We had to wait a long time, there was one worker doing 3 things, I felt bad for her.

The pool was dirty. It looked like they just opened it that weekend without bothering to clean it from the winter. And it was not heated at all like the website said. I really wish there was a hot tub.

It was also disturbing to hear that, while we were eating breakfast Sunday morning that someone’s car had been broken into that night. Why has nothing been done about this matter? I’ve read several reviews saying this happened to other guests.

One positive I will say the shuttle bus going from the speedway to the hotel. We were walking back because we could not get an Uber back. So we prepared to walk 5 miles. Lo and behold, the shuttle was parked on the side of lynhurst, awaiting some other guests who had called because of a similar situation. We got on and it was like someone was watching over us. It was a lifesaver.

The hotel seemed severely understaffed given the major sporting event going on. I’m giving 3 (would be 3 1/2) stars for the comfortable bed and decent food, shuttle bus coming to the rescue. Also, it was very quiet and I commend the hotel for having quiet hours from 8pm-8am. Still 3 stars. Taking away 2 for tired dated look and funky...
