We stayed at this hotel for a wedding and I would NOT recommend that anyone book "hotel room blocks" for a wedding at this property. While I have enjoyed stays at Marriott hotels for decades, I would now rethink my stay (at least with a Courtyard Marriott) after this experience.
While the perk of this hotel was the free shuttle to/from the airport, it is one of the only perks. It is also a benefit available through most of the other hotels near the airport (we discovered this during the long wait for our shuttle from the airport). However, the transportation staff was very friendly.
Upon arrival, we discovered that the handle to our toilet was broken so that it would not "latch" onto the chain to flush. Immediately after discovering this, I reported it to the hotel staff. A staff member promptly addressed the problem and sent a repair technician within 15 minutes. Although the repair tech fixed the problem, it was only temporary. Unfortunately, the toilet continued to break (and constantly ran water) the entire duration of our stay. The running water was also disruptive to our sleep, since it was loud. I did not feel that this was adequately addressed by the hotel staff.
The hotel staff and/or housekeeping service was also disappointing. On one occasion, I called the front desk to request clean towels and a replenishment of shower essentials (wash clothes, bath towels, shampoo, soap, conditioner, etc). The hotel staff that answered the phone was very rude and told me, in short, to wait for the housekeeping staff to come and that they do it when they come around. She was very rude and treated me as if I had never stayed at a hotel before and was explaining how to get clean towels...by waiting for the service. Apparently, she needed a lesson (not just in professionalism and hotel courtesy), but in housekeeping, since I had to explain to her that it was late afternoon time and housekeeping did not come and was nowhere in sight, so we needed the necessities to get ready for the wedding (which was the entire purpose of our stay). As a result, she stated she would call housekeeping. When housekeeping staff arrived, we were only provided with 2 bath towels (no wash clothes or hand towels) and 2 bottles of conditioner (no shampoo...no soap...).
Finally, the rooms were mediocre at best. They could use some updating and TLC. It was the least of our worries, considering the above issues. However, the combination of the entire experience was...
Read moreOn the morning of May 27, 2018, about two to three minutes after I got out of the shower and was standing at the bathroom sink, the light fixture in the shower/toilet room fell from the ceiling and the wires were pulled from the ceiling bow and ware arching. I called the front desk and the sent two maintenance men to the room. Water was running from the (now hole) in the ceiling from the room above on the 4th floor. We departed the hotel to attend the Indy 500 for the day and the maintenance people were working on repairs when we departed. Upon return from the speedway, it appeared that the problem was fixed and a new light fixture was installed.
On the morning of May 28, 2018, I had taken my shower and my daughter was now utilizing the shower/toilet room. While in the shower my daughter noticed water dripping into the ceiling light fixture and quickly got out of the shower and that room. At that point the ceiling light fixture was filling with water and beginning to come loose from its mounting in the ceiling. I turned off the light switch as the water level in the glass globe was almost to the internal light socket and would short out and possibly start a fire. We notified the front desk. The day manager stated that the reason for all the water problems was that the people in the room above us were taking showers and not placing the shower curtain in the tub, therefore water was ponding on the floor and running down to lower floors. He acted like it was funny and almost comical that the adults in the room above us didn't know enough to put the shower curtain in the tub when taking a shower and that the housekeeping staff had on a number of occasion had to mop up the excess water with piles of towels. The day manager stated he was going to credit us with one nights stay on our bill for this inconvenience and interruption in our stay. I have pictures of the first morning when the ceiling light fell from the ceiling and the exposed wires that were very close to the wet shower rod and curtain. I also have pictures from the second morning when the new ceiling light fixture was filling with water and starting to fall from its mounting in the ceiling. Someone from your management staff needs to address this MAJOR problem and lack of caring by the day manager and the staff of this hotel. I will await your return response to this situation as I or my daughter could have been seriously injured or electrocuted because of...
Read morePleasant, quiet, relaxing one night stay! Excellent Courtyard property located approximately 15 minutes from Indianapolis International Airport. During the course of many years in the travel industry, I have visited this hotel many times. The property is a mature, traditional, immaculate, friendly hotel catering largely (or so it seems) to guests whom are traveling to and from the airport. Long-time travelers, like myself, will recognize this Courtyard property as one with the original look, floor plan and design of the first Courtyard properties. However, this hotel has upgraded many features of the hotel, especially noticeable in and around the lobby, Bistro, outside patio and pool areas. The hotel also is wearing a new paint job, which looks great(no more mustard yellow paint!!) The guestrooms still have the original design, decor and floor plan. My guestroom was spacious, quiet, immaculate and comfortable. The bathroom is large, but a little dated (still very functional!) One of my all-time favorite features (common in many Courtyard properties) is the placement of the bed, located in the center of the room and not up against the wall separating my room from the next. INGENIOUS! I wish EVERY hotel had the intellect to design there rooms this way. Not being awakened in the middle of the night by your neighbors and/or their children banging against the walls is an amenity worth paying extra!! The hotel also features the Bistro for breakfast and dinner. One item a guest must consider at this hotel is your food options. The hotel is located in an area where there is little, if any restaurants near the hotel. Therefore, if you don't have your own transportation, you need to plan ahead here. The Bistro is an excellent option (except for lunch hours). The menu is limited, but very diverse. I've thoroughly enjoyed the Bistro burger on past stays. My recent visit I ordered the Cobb salad, trying to eat a little healthier. The Cobb salad was good. Not exactly the best I've had, but it served it's purpose (I would recommend the Bistro burger!!) The hotel staff associates are very friendly and efficient here. The hotel provides complimentary airport shuttle transportation. This hotel property is excellent for guests who need accommodations near the airport. Excellent stay!...
