I stopped after a day of many hours in the saddle. It was an unplanned stop as I was passing through the area. I would give the owners credit for being clean. The visual appeal of the exterior is a bit lacking. The office gave the impression of being in a slightly darkened closet. It was very small and closed in and you did your business through a hole in a glass above the counter. I'm all for security but this definitely gives one reason to question why you are stopping at this place. The room was okay but dated, a lot. It was in need of a make over. Too much normal wear and tear without replacement. No breakfast or connection to a chain where user points could have made it more palatable. It appeared to be a motel used a lot by temporary workers in the area. Nothing at all wrong with that work but those workers are not usually looking for anything but a bed. It was sort of surprising to see actual keys instead of key cards but given the rest of the business maybe not so much. The room I had came equipped with a TV and remote that required what seemed to be reprogramming every time a channel was changed. It is not a big thing but I would expect an owner to actually try the things they offer in their business to see how they work. As said, not a big thing but a real pain when all you want to do is kick back and see some TV before bed. Along those same lines, after asking and getting the password for the wifi, I was not a single time able to connect during my stay. I've been around enough to know it was not a problem on my devices but in the service they were offering. All in all, if you are in need of a bed, it is okay. Not good by any stretch but merely okay. If you are looking to take a break and enjoy your vacation while making an overnight stop, keep going. Far too many places that are more in tune with making happy customers. My impression of this is a place that serves people in need of lodging as opposed to people who are wanting to make an enjoyable stop while...
Read moreI get that alot of people have a bad opinion about this place but that is only because of there level of expectation is too high! At end of the day this is a motel not a lavished Holiday Inn Express or Hilton! Honestly your really gonna tear a place apart when it's already run down. Yes, the building is old and they have several things to take care of but I've stayed in IHG properties that were kept up the same way and I paid over $200 to $300 for the same experience. This Motel is very old school they don't even have key cards. They are regular metal keys. so you won't have to deal with the whole deactivation scenario. At least with this place you get what you give. $100 is not too bad for a bed, bath, and some air conditioning. I like also the little town, there is not random homeless people or thieves breaking into your cars which you find in other cities. Johnson City is a small town with two hotels in the whole town. it's kind of sad that the people that were lucky to find a hotel room and still have the decency to complain about it. I see that a lot of people complain that there is no breakfast. Like honestly how do you not research the place that you're going to stay and then complained what you can't find everything that you are use too. There is literally a Dairy Queen right across the street, there is a gas station right next to the property as well that sells several hot foods to sandwiches, tacos, pizzas the building next to that gas station is a donut shop and the building next to that is a Mexican restaurant they're all at walking distance. literally 3 minutes away. Like you could have slept in your car if it was that bad. People need to be a little bit more grateful. I enjoyed my stay and was grateful enough to have...
Read moreDO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!! I stayed the weekend of 3/13/15 - 3/15/15. At first glance the hotel seemed ok, but after just a few minutes I realized it was a mistake. First, I had made a reservation for two nights, and had to pay the entire amount up front. The second deadbolt on my room was missing the working parts, and the chain lock on the inside of the door was broken. There were cobwebs in the shower, and above the sink as well. The toilet was not bolted down to the floor or the wax ring seal was broken because it wobbled considerably. There was quite a bit of sunlight showing under the door during daylight hours, made me wonder just what would come into the room. The room I was in was at the end and back of the property, and there was all sorts of abandoned furniture around the outside. There were two beds in the room, both quite hard..as were the pillows on each bed. Finally the phone in the room had no dialtone. I usually like to stay in family run hotels/motels, but no more. Its national brands for me...
