Upon arrival the concierge was very nice and pleasant we were discussing my travels we were rudely interrupted by the valet man who stated without greeting or anything “where am I supposed to park that big old thing?!” The concierge had just asked for my id to confirm my check in. When I realized that he was speaking to me and my vehicle i immediately said hello how are you doing tonight l. He didn’t respond and said why did you come here with that U-Haul van ? You should have went somewhere else I have no where to park it. You see the cars I already have ?!” Pointing to the nicer cars out by the door. “Why would you come here in that big ol thing.” I felt a little embarrassed because I didn’t know I had to be in a certain vehicle to stay at this hotel. “You know that’s gone be 58$ right ?!” He was very direct and cold with his speech after I let him know that I had read the valet parking pay board he continued to talk indirectly so I ignored him and went on with checking in. The young man apologized several times for the valet clerks behavior and gave me all my key and the ticket they the valet had threw in the counter. Once I gotten my things out of the vehicle and came back in I was standing in line behind a few guest to give the concierge my key and the valet walks back in talking loudly did she leave the key to that big ol U-Haul truck which it wasn’t even U-Haul it was a home depot van. All the guest turned around and looked at me I embarrassingly stepped to the front of the line and stated I was waiting for my turn after the other guest before had been served. I gave the concierge the keys and sadly walked away. I had never been treated like this in my life by anyone. I felt discriminated against and if I could have gotten a refund on this expensive room I would have I was just tired and had a long day they next day I told him he neeeded to talk some hospitality classes because this is not the way guest should be treated upon arrival in this hotel no matter how they gotten there. The valet was very very rude and unkind I will not visit again if he will be there. I wouldn’t trust him in my regular car let alone another cargo van. He made me feel little and embarrassed and unfortunately uncomfortable the smiling faces I’m used to seeing when I come to this hotel chain was not present and I felt very bad. I just went to my room and went to sleep, didn’t even come out for breakfast I will not be returning I am not a child and will not be treated as such. The valet really needs help with connecting with guest. I visited from 2/24-2/25 the valet was a older African American male with a grey beard. The concierge was was young man and he was too embarrassed about the valets actions. The next morning the Hispanic valets were very pleasant and didn’t make me feel bad for driving a cargo van to the hotel. Maybe they should work at...
Read moreFacilities were good, room was well maintained, big king size bed - way too soft for me, with two bedside tables where each bedside table have a light - not adjustable brightness unfortunately - too bright. There is also a sofa, to which I find it too big for the room - it makes the room clattered. The room comes with enough storage, fridge, large 50” Samsung TV, coffee machine, free guest wifi. Coffee machine is provided with disposable paper cups and some UHT milk, the coffee is filtered. Only two tea bags options - English breakfast and Earl Grey. Sugars etc were also available - see photo for details. There is also a security safe hidden in compartment above the fridge / below the coffee machine. The USB port is not working next to the bed - bedside table - nearer the window. Air condition is available and the control panel is on the wall next to the TV - easy to access and operate. The room (bedroom) is little bit outdated, I would suggest better more suited decor and modern look, on the other hand, the bathroom was the best room - tidy and clean with good modern space that offered lovely spacious standing shower with big sink next to it and toilet basin nicely located next to the shower - in the corner. The door to the bathroom is frosted green/blue glass. Service at the check-in: Staff generally lovely, but somehow lacked the professionalism, acting immature and not giving full attention to customers. The staff were more focused on their private conversation - disappointing as first impression always counts in my case. Valet car park: Disappointing, not professional, very bad attitude. The cost was reasonable at $25 per 24 hours (overnight) - but not advertised clearly and when I’ve asked the valet staff and also the hotel staff for details, they were hessitant to tell us the price and how the service works - eventually after I have started asking multiple direct questions, we have had our answers - this should not be the case, it should be transparent and not ‘hidden’. Facilities in the hotel: We were here for pleasure as well as business and we have found that there is no space to work from anywhere within the hotel due to lack of privacy and silence - the lobby music / lounge music is played too loud to be able to work or concentrate. When we have asked for somewhere to work from apart of our room, we have not received straight forward answer and definitely not one with a solution. Checkout: We have asked for extra 45 minutes for checkout (checkout time is 12:00) to which it was not a problem by the staff at the front desk and assured us there won’t be any additional charge, nor anyone will ask us to leave earlier than 12:45. At 12:10 cleaners arrived to clean the room asking...
Read moreBooking the reservation with the front desk staff was a nightmare. They gave me a prepay rate that they held for 24 hrs before the offer expired. I called within the 24 hr window to confirm the reservation and they had incorrect dates listed for my stay and the rate was higher than what I was quoted the day before. That took a long time to get resolved. They assured me I'd get the rate quoted to me initially. Then the confirmation with the app came after the reservation was booked-again wrong dates and rate. I spoke to the manager, Stacy-Ann, who said their system reflected the correct dates and she would change the rate to what I was quoted. This was about 3 weeks before my stay. Second confirmation reminder days before my stay, same wrong info. I called the hotel to make sure my info was correct. Stacy-Ann sent me an email with the correct info and rate. Also, my card had still not been charged up to about 5 days before my stay, but it should have been charged immediately after booking a prepay rate, which made me nervous about whether the hotel still had a reservation for me at all. I arrived at the hotel the next week and was told that there was construction from 8am to 5pm. I was not happy about this at all. When I booked, I told the staff I would be in town for a medical procedure and rest and quiet were important to me for my recovery. Also, under the pre-pay rate I could not make any changes to the reservation and no one told me about construction when I booked. Had I known about it, I would have chosen a different hotel. I was put on the 8th floor. I could hear banging, drilling and heavy slamming. I called the front desk to ask to be transferred to another room and I was told no matter what room they move me to I'd still hear construction noise. There were also insects crawling in the bathroom and sink outside the bathroom. There was also no gift shop (hotel said they used to have one), but they brought me bottles of water as a consolation. The next day I complained to the front desk. They said the construction was happening on the 10th and 11th floors. They then moved me to the 24th floor. I didn't hear any more construction noise and that room was cleaner.Though this hotel is rated 4+ stars, I'd actually give it a solid 3. It's the worst experience I've ever had at a Marriott and I'm not a complainer. I did let the front desk and Stacy Ann know that I was not pleased, from booking the reservation to arrival. I appreciated what...
