My room had stains on the sheets, the shower curtains, the shower itself, the bathroom floor had a red liquid on it, the toilet leaked and the bathroom sink had a strange red liquid. The new "renovations" include a new bedframe and shelf, the rest of the room is still disgusting. All that to say it's one of the only motels in town so I was willing to live with it. Until I found cockroaches running under the bed. When I confronted the front desk he refused a refund and only offered an "upgraded room". He told me corporate has to issue the refund. Well after I left corporate told me only he can issue a refund since he is the one that swiped my card. Long story short this place is disgusting the owner will lie to your face and this business is best described as a scam at best.
EDIT: Since I cannot respond to the owners response I am editing my review as a response.
The owner claims I refused to show photographic evidence, which I have clearly left in my review. HE simply never asked for pictures. as far as the alleged "emergency" i understand if he interpreted my urgency to leave as an emergency but I simply did not want to stay in a hotel with cockroaches and the only solution offered was an other room. Although he is correct we did have a very friendly conversation prior to my departure, it was only after the fact that I found out corporate will not refund the room and that it is the managers responsibility to do so which is where I feel I was lied to. Lastly the level of unprofessionalism displayed by the owner of a motel by arguing with customers in the Google reviews is almost as absurd as trying to discredit a complaint simply because it had been 5 days since the incident. (It takes that long to get an answer from corporate). Funny how he is insinuating that these pictures are not from the room i rented while also admiting the cause for the red stains also shown in my pictures. He also mentions the amount of hours spent in the room (i went to get dinner) as if there is a time limit on finding roaches before your complaint is not valid. Tread carefully, read reviews and you will see similar complaints met with similar arguments from the owner.
final words of cautions ⚠️ He is clearly fabricating reviews as well The last person to complain about shady people in the parking lot was met with a 5 star review (of a motel, come on, be real) the following day claiming there where no shady people. They also claimed the stairs where clean and the beds where comfortable which is an outright lie, there is a literal pile of trash under the stairs and the beds where extremely uncomfortable, which to be fair for 80 bucks a night is to be expected. Id be willing to bet there will be a 5 star review tomorrow talking about how clean it is and casually mention the lack of bugs😅 get a grip. If you put half as much effort into keeping your motel clean as you do arguing with customers maybe my experience would of...
Read moreI picked this hotel mainly because the ratings of other hotels in the region were worse. It was like trying to pick which poison you want to do yourself in with. This hotel is located near the Interstate and is near Dexter's busiest road for restaurants and shops. When we arrived we were kind of shocked by there being only one other car in the parking lot. Yes, not a good omen.||||When we went to check in it was clear that this hotel was being run, and lived in by an immigrant family. They were courteous but not always attentive. The cleanliness overall was something left to be desired in the corridors and grounds overall. The hotel had a weird pungent smell in the air. Once we got to our room we found that it was in better shape then the rest of the hotel, but not by much. It did seem that the room overall was clean and everything was in order. This hotel comes with breakfast but everything being offered didn't appear appealing. Cereals were in plastic containers, and not separately packaged leading me to believe that costs were being cut. The orange juice looked off, and the package danishes looked as if they had seen better days, let alone years.||||It is obvious that this place is not being run properly like it should, but that is what you expect from someone trying to cut costs because they don't have the experience to run a proper hotel. I found a better hotel in Dexter, which I reviewed. This place isn't bad, but I found much better for $15 less down the road. I can't recommend this place, and I can't condemn it either, but I won't...
Read moreI cannot believe Econo Lodge in Kennett, Missouri is allowed to operate under the Econo Lodge name. This place was a total nightmare from the moment we stepped inside.
First of all, the room was a sauna. There was only one tiny air conditioning unit that wasn’t even turned on before we arrived — in the middle of summer. It ran non-stop the entire time and still couldn’t cool the room down. We had to go out and buy our own fans just to make the room barely tolerable.
The mini fridge didn’t work at all, so forget keeping anything cold. WiFi wouldn’t connect to the TV, and to top it all off, the manager had to come into our room at night to fix it. Totally inappropriate and made us feel unsafe.
The floor was absolutely filthy. We couldn’t take two steps without our feet turning black — and we’re talking indoors. That’s how dirty the floors were. The beds were rock-hard and completely uncomfortable, and the bathroom was barely big enough to turn around in.
We also picked this place specifically because it said there was a pool. Surprise — the pool was “out of order” with no explanation. Just more false advertising.
Oh, and let’s talk about safety. There was a group of men standing around right outside our door all night long. Not just talking — loitering, drinking, hanging out. We didn’t feel safe going in or out of our room after dark.
This place was gross, uncomfortable, and made us feel unsafe. I wouldn’t stay here again if it was the last hotel on Earth. Save yourself the misery and book literally...
