The worst stay at any hotel I've ever stayed in! I will never recommend this property or Wyndham to anyone ever. That is saying a lot because we travel quite frequently and work in hotels.
I quickly booked a Friday night for my husband and I away from our 8 kids. I later added Thursday night. The photos do not accurately represent the property at all. I was just looking for fast and decent but it was very run down. The Wed. before our trip I called Travelodge-spoke to a female, asked her if she could combine the bookings...I thought I might have booked 2 different rooms. If NOT, totally fine, it was my doing. She said she could do it-we were all set to be in 405. We arrived Thursday and Abel checked us in...he didn't see where the bookings were combined. So again-I asked if he could do it. He said YES in room 406 and we could just stay all of Friday, not check out and back in, etc. The bathroom was a little grimy, the shower dripped nonstop, the room stayed hot unless you were up against the AC unit. Friday morning we were ready to walk to the beach-it's a hike-not close by and the rooms that have a "partial ocean view" are a joke. I stopped by the front desk to again to verify the stay. Gulistan or Gulsten-a female worker at the front desk said, you are only booked for 1 night and then in a different room for tonight. I told her about the call and Abel...2 workers fixing it for us. She rudely looked at me like I was crazy and her answer was "what do you want me to do?" Oh and why are you mad at me?-"well I didn't do this." I did tell her that her customer service skills were horrible but in a more descriptive way. She didn't once say SORRY for this miscommunication or misunderstanding or ask what she could do to help the situation, she didn't offer to call a manager. We went back to the room and packed up, turned in the cards and walked away. She yelled out for me..."M'am???" asking if I was checking out-the exact thing she JUST said we had to do and return at 4 to check into another room. The professional thing to do would have been to let me walk away and not instigate ANOTHER conversation where she still wasn't planning being helpful. We went back and forth and I finally walked away again. We did NOT return although we paid for the night. We went to The Comfort Inn and were treated...
Read moreI booked this hotel for two of my female employees to stay at while supporting one of our businesses in Southern Shores.
Upon checking into the hotel, our employees observed mildew in the bathroom in tub and around the base of the toilet, filthy surfaces and carpets, peeling patches of paint, water stained ceiling patches, and hair (including pubic hair) in the sheets in the bed.
The room was gross. The hotel lobby and rooms did not match the photos from the website and our employees were not comfortable staying there given the conditions. The rooms were being cleaned by adults with their young children who were handling the bedding, toiletries and towels, etc., with ungloved hands, balancing them on their heads and tossing them onto the floor etc… not a clean practice and wildly unprofessional.
My employees expressed to the onsite attendant that they weren’t comfortable staying, turned in their keys and left, after being told multiple times, the room for the entire week would not be refunded.
While I personally might’ve toughed it out given the heavy expense of booking an entirely new reservation for a week during the summer here, I couldn’t possibly ask these young women that work for me to do that, so we booked a nice last-minute Airbnb…
I filed a complaint with Priceline, attempted to reach the hotel general manager multiple times but to no avail. No returned calls or voicemails. So, our business had to pay the bill for two lodgings for the entire week smh.
Very frustrating as a small business owner in Outer Banks to be treated this way by another local business. The attendant at the hotel was obviously frustrated because there were a line of people with varying complaints about the accommodations at the same time our team was trying to check out.
I’d be very cautious about...
