PROS: The resort itself is comparable to typical timeshare resorts. Nice offering of activities for families. Kitchen well supplied. Pool size just large enough to accomodate a fully packed resort with nearly every parking space taken by evening. Maintenance followed up quickly on washer that was not working properly upon our arrival; did not address the broken toilet paper holder & towel rack which was not a big deal, so asked that it be taken care of AFTER we checked out, so the next guest would not have to deal with it.
Cons: #1 reason that will prevent us from ever becoming owners; Wyndham sales tactics. We already own with Hyatt/Marriott & Vacation Villages & actively rent out weeks using SOME of our points during peak times, which pay our annual maintenance fees on everything we own. We have been doing this for 20 years. After a stressful Wyndham sales presentation 7 mos ago, we bought a “Discovery” package to try them out/give it benefit of the doubt after a high pressure sales ordeal…thinking maybe it was just that sales manager. We are now just trying to use up our points to be OVER WITH IT. As you’ll see from pics below, we adamantly refused to sit in on any more sales presentations, declining THREE in the last 6 mos (being told that ALL were required attendance in order to not forfeit “Discovery” package points). FINALLY after this THIRD “NO, WE DO NOT EVER WANT TO BECOME OWNERS,” they said upon check-in at this location that we no longer were required to sit in on these presentations/contract fulfilled/contract NOT voided if we did not endure another one. BE WARNED that in order to be issued your ROOM KEY & PARKING PASS you are required to stop at a desk AFTER the front desk that will promote their timeshare sales presentation tour. Regardless of my hard no upon check-in, we STILL received THREE 9 am WAKE UP CALLS on day 1-3 + TWO ADDITIONAL CALLS during the day, BOTH on our ROOM phone and my CELL phone (see phone pic records below!). I texted them requesting that my guest profile be updated to receive TEXT communications, NO PHONE calls. STILL received phone calls ALL THREE mornings + later in day, despite explaining clearly that we did not ever want to put our family & friends through the Club Wyndham sales presentation & stay ordeal. Folks do NOT want 9 am wake up calls, nor repeated calls encouraging particiption in the sales presentation. During our last Club Wyndham stay, they not only called our room phone + my cell phone, but also called my MOTHER-IN-LAW’s room phone AND HER CELL phone, awakening her DAILY until we agreed to sit in on their sales presentation. There is NO WAY I would make my friends or family endure these! We have been told that these sales marketing “standards” do not apply to Wyndham owners nor their guests, but WHY IS THERE THE BELIEF THAT THIS DAILY WAKE-UP CALL WOULD ENTICE ANYONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND TO BECOME OWNERS?!!! Disney Vacation Club, nor Marriott/Hyatt, nor you name it, does NOT give wake up calls to potential sales presentation guests because you either like what they have to offer or not. Period.
#2 Con - nickel & dime treatment, such as: “9:30 - 10:30 am Monday morning coffee & donuts.” We were poured a half cup of coffee & told that was the most coffee that we could be given, 10 min before they were to stop serving coffee & donuts. One donut per person was fine, but barely 4 ozs of coffee?! Plus, we were told there was no more creamer. Pool towels were required to be returned EVERY night by 10:30 pm or else charged $25/unreturned towel. Not an appropriate way to entice a potential owner to want to own with Wyndham, esp when other timeshares/vacation clubs do not limit your lobby cup of coffee & creamer + towels are provided inside the villas & may be kept for the entirety of your stay, not tallied-billed daily if not returned. What is the point of the annual maintenance fee if the expense of lobby coffee is rationed to 4 ozs & there’s no creamer...
Read moreReserved a room at this location for the 11th-25th of this month. Upon checking in we were greeted by an absolutely awful manager who refused to give us the VIP upgrade we were entitled to. Stating to the staff member typing our details into the computer for check in, “that’s too nice of an upgrade for them.” Was disrespectful, laughing at my wife, and extremely argumentative. We never received the bracelets for our room because the woman left abruptly saying she “doesn’t have time for this.” Ultimately they charged our club account double points to get another room to get a lockout that they supposedly “didn’t have available” for our upgrade. I have been trying to get in contact with management for over a week now, and have not had any luck. They send you on a run around. On the morning of the 15th, my entire family woke up covered in bites. Four of my six children went into anaphylactic shock. My 1 year old child is currently hospitalized in life threatening condition due to a systemic reaction to the bites. We have been in the hospital with him for the last 5 days. We have been club owners for close to a year. Paid over $50,000 for this ownership. This is absolutely the worst location we have ever visited, and we travel monthly. I would give it a lower review if it were possible. I will be having my lawyer contact on my behalf from this point forward. Everyone stay away from here. We were in building 15 and if anyone else has sustained any sort of bug bites after sleeping here, go be seen. He contracted a protozoan parasite from the bug bites called Chagas disease. It’s a new silent epidemic and killer. Over 18,000 reported cases alone from Orlando, Kissimmee, and Daytona beach area. Beware parents! Call the hospital UF Health and ask to see or speak with Norman Beatty, infectious disease specialist, who is running a statewide study trying to save us all. The disease was brought here from the South Americas and Latin America. Any other information from before this year is not an accurate account on the disease. Stay informed and read his medical articles. We barely made it in time to the hospital. My 1 year old was almost gone merely 48 hours after the bites. All of my six children are infected as well as my wife and myself. Stayed in building 15- room 385 and 386. Also, beware. Staff will randomly scoop your children up from in front of your door or even building and even with our door opened and other children in front of our unit, took our 1 year old who is now in life threatening condition to the front office and called the police to have them report it to social services. The officers apologized profusely because he was picked up directly in front of our unit by security and stated that they suggested to the office to knock on all of the doors in the units prior to calling them. They did this to another child the very same morning to a completely different family. This resort is NOT a safe...
Read moreThe place was just…okay. Subpar. Boring. (Cute and functional though) Living room furniture…(as seen in other people’s reviews months/years ago)…filthy. Spots where people’s heads have been and all. I went to front desk and they were supposed to be sending someone to the room. We had to leave so when I got back and still saw the spots, I didn’t think anyone had been there. I trucked back to the front desk and asked to speak with supervisor. She said someone had been there to clean the spots with like the carpet cleaning machine but spots were still prevalent. It gave me the creepy crawly feeling and there was no way I could have sat on there comfortably. I asked them for 3 blankets to put on top of the sofa and arm chairs. So it looked like I actually had furniture covers on there. I also asked when would they get new furniture and she said it’s up to management. WELL, THE TIME IS NIGH!!! And who actually uses the jacuzzi tubs in the rooms. Take those out and make better use of the space.
One night as I was watching TV, I saw a cockroach in between the arm of the sofa and the sofa cushion itself. We didn’t need to use the sofa bed but I dread to even know what we’d find if we actually did pull it out. Cringe worthy.
Jacuzzi jets at the pool area haven’t worked for months (according to previous reviews) and neither did they for our stay. It’s a very weak jet system if they call that working.
Put bags of vinegar over the shower heads for at least 30 minutes as part of the cleaning regimen. This will give better water flow.
I see speakers around the premises and pool area but no music. It was way too quiet for my 13 and 15 year old and even my 40 year old self. We like the speed of Star Island way better (DJ, karaoke, tennis courts, outdoor bars, basketball courts, huge playground, paddle boats, ect). They just didn’t have availability so we chose here instead. Pool, jacuzzi and workout room are the extent of amenities.
Now, I’m not going to say the place was all bad. The beds slept amazing. Extremely hot water flowing all the time. Screened in patio…sweet! I like the fact the person to book us for sales presentation wasn’t annoying and didn’t push us into a presentation. We said “no” once and he was like, ok, cool. Spacious two bedroom layout. Somewhat modern feel. Proximity to Disney and Epcot were good. Grounds kept well. Pretty scenery from patio view. Fresh spices were planted for you to pick and use. I thought that was nice. Workout room was sufficient.
Take people’s reviews and actually do something about the bad ones so you don’t get multiple people complaining about the same thing...
