I have stayed at many IHG properties over several years. I will never be back at this on in Laporte IN.
We booked this hotel for New Year's Eve so they we could meet another couple from Chicago.
We checked in on Friday afternoon and never was told that the Lobby closed at 10pm nor were we told that there was no alcohol allowed in the lobby
Friday we sat in the lobby with a cocktail and played cards with no problem.
Now comes Saturday. The front desk person was rude through out the day.
We sat and watched the football game during the day with a cocktail and nothing was ever said. This desk was at one point watching the game with us.
We go to dinner and come back to sit in the lobby with a cocktail and to play cards and this same desk clerk was very rude and condescending. He said that we absolutely could not stay in the lobby past 10. We continue to play cards and he once again says we have to leave.i ask him where are the rules posted that the Lobby closed at 10pm. He said he didn't have to show many any rules and that we either needed to go to our rooms or he was going to call the police and have us escorted off the property.
On our way to the elevator we heard him calling the police. They did show up however we never talked to them.
When I talked to the manager this morning and explained everything, she was just as condescending as he was. She is the one that said they do not allow alcohol in the lobby. With that I told her that if they are closing the lobby at 10pm and not allowing alcohol in the lobby they should clearly have it posted . I also told that we were very disappointed in their customer service.
As someone who rates IHG properties as a great place to stay this property is not one I...
Read moreDuring our stay we actually decided to show up to the hotel later than the regular check-in time. We arrived around 5:00 PM only to find that our room was not ready not clean and the reason was because we had a very specific room and we could not check in at that time. I let the lady at the desk know the only reason we had that room is because it was the last one available online. So after checking in more than two hours after check in time, we arrive to our room to find one king size bed and no fold out couch as specified on our reservation this would not of been a problem if we had a rollaway bed available. But because there was not a rollaway bed available my three kids slept on the floor. Arvada had a pillowcase with a stain on it our coffee maker did not work trying to look past it all venture down to the pool to relax and calm down having been told it was heated I jumped in and it was all but heated it was freezing. I asked for two blankets to put my kids to sleep on the floor I got one, and the whole experience was terrible. Being I travel to the area at least twice a year, I was hopeful that this hotel would be my new lodging facility. I was dreadfully wrong and feel I should be compensated. I am waiting to see if it’s made right with the return of my charges to my card or with a complementary stay or something to the equivalent. I am giving you the opportunity to correct what was wrong and and to allow me to experience your hotel at its best before I complete any other online reviews as I...
Read moreWe just by chance happened to stay at this particular IHG property after a 10 hour drive. The hotel had only been open 6 weeks and hadn't even gotten in the back patio yet... yes it will have a patio for guests. This updated Holiday Inn Express is a huge update over the existing properties. I felt like I was walking into a upscale lounge area when I entered the hotel. A variety of seating choices with easy to access outlets and USB chargers all over the place. TV's at the end of tables so the kids could have their show on while the news could be on another. The breakfast area was set apart from the dining area which is a big change from other properties. The room we had was ultra modern with LED effect up lighting and a choice of three different lights in the bathroom. The last hotel we were at had one... ultra bright, not a fun experience in the middle of the night!
This was the last night out from an 8 day trip and it was the FIRST time the whole trip that the person who was running the breakfast offered to help my handicapped wife get her breakfast to the table. I hadn't even had a chance to start to help before the offer was made. The other 7 nights were not at a IHG property.
The only negative was that our room was on the 2nd floor and near the elevator, like we requested, but you could hear pretty clearly the people in the pool which was right below our room. A little more insulation might be needed? That said...10pm hit and they went quiet. A great end to a...
