Sadly, outback used to be one of my favorite steakhouses. Unfortunately these days the quality seems to decline every time I go. We took the whole family and ordered a variety of dishes. My wife generally has a small appetite so she ordered the seared ahi appetizer for her meal. Every time we go, the tuna slices get thinner and thinner and thinner. These ones you can almost read through, even though it's an appetizer it's still a very small portion for what they charge. We had two toddlers with us and I think every restaurant should understand that they should get their food out ASAP. They didn't order anything fancy, mac and cheese And the kids steak dish with broccoli. That should have been easy to get out quickly. But we all waited for our order for 45 minutes. They brought out our salads and appetizers fairly quickly, but the rest of it lagged seriously. I ordered the ribeye with grilled shrimp and a baked potato side. Also had the side salad. The side salad was a side salad Not much to complain about there, but the baked potato was seriously lacking. I don't know how you wreck a baked potato that badly but it was cooked to within an inch of his life and the inside was like powder. I ordered it loaded, and it was still dry and difficult to eat. Now for the ribeye, it looked like it was probably a decent piece of meat. I ordered it medium rare. It looked okay on the plate, but it was blue rare inside and it was cold. We waited so long I ate it anyway But any other night I would have sent it back and had him try again. My granddaughter was sitting next to me and she wound up ordering the prime rib. They asked how she wanted it cooked and the choices were regular or seared and seasoned. She asked me what I thought and I said if it's cooked well just get it regular. She asked for medium rare and what she got was a piece of the most unappetizing looking gray meat I've ever seen served in a restaurant. I would be embarrassed to serve that if I cooked it. It was flavorless and had absolutely nothing positive to comment about. I took a bite just to see how it tasted and it was very bland, just not a very good piece of meat. The mac and cheese was decent except like everything else it took so long to get our food that it wasn't as warm as it should have been. My daughter had French onion soup and two lobster tails, and the lobster tails were very small for what they charge. I've seen shrimp with more meat on them. My son-in-law ordered a steak But I wasn't close enough to him to be able to comment on the quality. But altogether fairly unsatisfying dinner for hundreds of dollars. You got to do...
Read moreMy family and I went for mothers day. My mom ordered her steak well done, her to go order steak was ordered well done as well, I ordered my medium rare more on the rare side. We didn't get the third steak being it was to go until we left. My mom sent hers back being it was medium. I almost sent mine back as well because it was medium too. I could tell the waitress was flustered being it's mother's day. They remade my mom's steak and one of the cooks brought it to her. It was right between medium and medium well. Still pink in the middle. So they regrilled it for her. Still had a hint of pink but I told my mom it is still technically still cooking so it should end up fine. Her to go order for her dad, once she brought it home was medium. It really seems they can ONLY cook a medium steak. There isn't any other options. Plus their steaks have no flavor. For this being a steakhouse, this was highly disappointing. Our waitress wasn't rude but she just wasn't happy. My kind of hard of hearing grandpa likes to say his jokes. He's retired. EVERY server we've ever had has went with it at any other restaurant. Gabby, told him, "I can't today because it's mother's day and it's busy and too much for my brain to handle." That was the START of our service when she asked him which side he wanted and he joked and said the left side. He's in his 80s. Humor a man!!! I don't care what mood you are in, you are there to service your guests and keep them happy. The waitress that was serving the table right next to us was so sweet. My 8 year old made orange juice out of her oranges. Stopped her and asked if there was a trash can near because she was going g to dispose of it herself. She took the orange peels in her hands and disposed of them. She was a younger female with dirty blonde hair and it was in a low braid. Also, whichever lady (that was a mom as well) handing out the flowers outside was such a sweet heart as well. ...
Read moreStarted out great, the freshly baked bread, Ahi tuna appetizer, and our salads were excellent.
I ordered the new Chimichurri filet, requesting the sauce on the side as I was unfamiliar with it. Our server acknowledged my request and assured me the steak would be prepared accordingly. Unfortunately, as the attached photo shows, the sauce was slathered on the steak, rendering it gross. The server promptly offered to replace my steak, which I appreciated, but the new steak arrived only after my husband had finished his entire meal.
Compounding my disappointment, the onion petals were cold and rubbery, far below the quality I expected. While our server was apologetic and suggested the manager might comp my steak, no such adjustment appeared on our bill. Moreover, we were unexpectedly charged $2.99 for a "Table Mate Game" on the tableside tablet, which my husband had briefly explored out of curiosity for less than a minute. When I invited the manager (who claims he's the owner of the restaurant) to discuss these issues, he joined us at our table still cluttered with our empty salad bowls and appetizer plates, which had not been cleared. I explained our concerns—the improperly prepared steak, the delayed replacement, the subpar onion petals, and the erroneous game charge. The manager seemed indifferent, asserting that the replacement steak had resolved the issue, despite its untimely delivery. The onion petals, he offered no comment on, and they remained inedible. I left with a $30 cold steak in a takeout container, hardly a satisfactory resolution.
I hate writing negative reviews, as I understand mistakes happen, we are all human. However, the combination of errors, lackluster food quality, and the manager’s dismissive attitude made this experience profoundly...
