This place surprised me. As an OTR driver, when it comes to breakdowns, you expect the worst when it comes to hotels. This place, however, is like an little oasis. Its beautiful with its gardens. The Cabana and food served, was great. The fare was simple, but excellent. There are restaurants within walking distance. What I loved the most about staying here was how it seemed a separate world once you stepped into the gates. They have alcoves for the downstairs rooms that create a private little porch area, and upstairs they have tables and chairs set out all along the balcony. I enjoyed how late in the evening all the guest seemed to be outside their rooms and enjoying the atmosphere. It was relaxing to have the flow of conversation around me. They truly live up to their home away from home statement. Wonderful experience. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
Experiencia maravillosa. Definitivamente lo recomendaría...
Read moreWent to Laredo for the day to take care of some things & to visit family so we stayed for the evening. The front desk staff was very attentive & friendly; she gave us Rm# 121. Had a great time. It was cold outside as had a cold front. We enjoyed the Happy Hour at the cabana from 6pm-8pm; the place smelled so good of bbq smoke. There’s a limit on the complimentary drinks to 2 per person in each room over 21 yrs. They also served nachos, popcorn, hot dogs, lemonade & alcoholic beverages. We ordered dinner from their menu. Once order was made, they gave it to us in a to-go box & we ate in our room because it was chilly outside even though the cabana was covered. The staff at the cabana were very friendly & happy to please the customers. My husband had the T-bone steak with 2 sides & tortillas; I had the beef fajitas plate also with 2 sides & tortillas. We truly savored & enjoyed the food; the meat was so soft & delicious, rice just needed a little salt but the potato salad was so good & cold. I turned on the heater to warm up the room for awhile. Before going to bed & rest, I got up to lower the heater as was getting hot & noticed the floor was wet. Water was dripping from the a/c so I turned the heater off. The mattress on the bed was very uncomfortable. Every time I would turn around, I would feel the springs from the bed. (Mattress needs to be replaced with new ones). Also the water pressure in the shower was very low. Reported water on floor to front desk staff when checked out at 1pm (late check-out). Will stay here again but in another room. Thanks for your...
Read moreOur stay was Sat through today. Positives: Clean, extremely quiet, and large rooms (128/9 in main bldg), social hour with free beer and nachos is fun, nice pool/hot tub area, nice staff (Jacky & Eliza and a few others I didn’t get names from), great place to meet nice people from all over, close to shopping and restaurants, late checkout time of 1pm. Negatives: room# 128 room phone didn’t work, wifi didn’t work inside room, cell phones didn’t even work inside room (I informed someone of this on Sunday and was told we would be addressed on another day as it was the weekend, but we never heard from anyone), Tues night a male employee came and spoke to us like we were in the jacuzzi long after the 10:00 pm closing and breaking rules. I got out and walked over to get my things. A couple minutes later I looked at my phone and saw it was only 10:07, so it would have been just past 10. Mind you, we were three 50-ish year olds chatting quietly. It would have been appropriate to simply & politely let us know that it was 10 as other employees did with all of the guests on the other nights, since watches/phones are not typically on someone in water. I was unable to work except for when sitting in the 104° heat outside, and I did hear that others had the same issue with wifi, even in the other bldg, so if you are a remote worker like me, this is not the place. Overall, the positives outweigh the negatives, and I will definitely have no problem coming again. I’ll just plan to be unplugged and on vacation. This trip was due to avoiding any hurricane...
