Hereâs a post-renovations review. Tonightâs plan for dinner was to go to Ciciâs but the new location was STUFFED - and therefore decided to get dinner at Pizza Hut, and then changed our minds again and decided to go to Linâs Grand Buffet - and then while driving by Golden Corral we saw the place was finally open once more - and it was then FINALLY decided weâd be eating here. We dearly missed it & were really excited to see the new Golden Corral.
As soon as you enter, you can see all the new improvements and renovations. Itâs quite nice and up-to-date in terms of aesthetics. The queue for seating was quite long but thatâs to be expected at any Golden Corral as the food is always worth it. We waited about 10 minutes in line. Seated three. One of the things that was immediately off-putting was new seating.
Seating +New chairs, new tables. Very clean. All the colors work really well together. +New booths!! Iâm a fan of these. I didnât sit in one but they look nice. -Seatingâs kinda cramped in some places now. The first table I was seated at was in between 3 families, window seats. It was cramped just trying to get to the table and my mother just refused to sit there. Luckily, staff had another table open in a more spacious area and let us sit there instead. Bless them!:) You can see my view from my pics. ~The pre-renovation walls dividing the seating area were removed. A very homey feel was lost and the seating looks more crowded in effect. It could just be me who feels this way though. Not a positive or a negative.
Food +The food here has always been great and that same level of quality still stands. Great variation of greens, meats, and all types of foods. Itâs good food. Great desserts and pastries. ~Some lines for food were very LONG. The steak line was just as long as the queue for seating. Canât really say it was anybodyâs fault, it was just a large influx of people tonight I suppose.
Staff & Service +Service here is great & very attentive. I recognize a lot of the staff here from pre-renovations and I really really like that. They do a great job and Iâm glad theyâve stuck around. :) +Despite a LARGE influx of returning and new customers tonight, they held down the fort. You could tell they were really well coordinated.
In summation, tonight was very crowded and it did feel a little bit overwhelming but the food was still just as good as before & I suppose thatâs what...
Read moreBest buffet Place in Town and overall. I am traveling a lot, and so far this Golden Corral had the best food compared with other GC. Eating here every time i need to come for business to Laredo, so I can say that food quality is very good since years.
Freshly renovated, and always very very clean. It is so easy: Just go to the restrooms of a place, and you know how its run. Even before renovation , the restrooms here have always been clean and well maintained. Now, after renovation, they are new & clean, and I am sure they keep them that way.
Love the food there, and prices are very fair !!!!
Nearly no complains, but if I might state something, I have 3 things to say: Personally, I do not like the live music they are presenting there. No misunderstanding: Music is VERY GOOD & kind of professional, but I prefer to have my meal in a more silent surrounding. Same thing can be said after reopening freshly renovated in December 2018: Now this place shows a real big dining area, no separators are used any more, and only disadvantage here is, that it got a little more noisy for everybody now, and -sorry to say so- reminds me a now to other restaurant chains like Dannys in Laredo. Don't misunderstand me, renovation was done GREAT, just is not my preferred style. And finally, I in person think that they keep that place very cold, AC is turned on to cold for me, unfortunately . . . ( Well, I am German, and we definately do NOT keep our places so cold over there . . . . ).
BEST BUFFET IN TOWN & FOOD...
Read moreI'll start by saying, I love buffets. Gives me a chance to try a little if everything and have dessert at the end of the meal. Golden corral is a waste of money and, overall, a terrible food experience. For lunch it was about $14 each, so not cheap. The far away look of the buffet is promising, but it's good from afar, but far from good. The food areas were consistently messy and the serving spoons are always greasy or sticky. The majority of the food i got was flavorless and lacked seasoning and taste. Cheeseburger, meatloaf, pot roast, quesadilla, pizza, fried fish, catfish, etc were all flavorless - they just tasted like salty food. Even the desserts were mildly flavored. The ice cream was the worst as it lacked any hint of vanilla flavoring. The strawberries in thick syrup were delicious and what you expect from it, but the ice cream is not worth the calories and digesting. The saving graces for me were the clam chowder (I added fried okra) and the seafood salad with club crackers, That's it! Save your money and go to a REAL restaurant with actually...
