My fiancé blocked off rooms at this hotel for my guests and myself to stay in after our wedding (the venue is nearby) in September 2017. My fiancé was told that as soon as the block was close to being filled up that he would get a call to see if we wanted more rooms blocked off; we never for a call so we thought we were okay. We went to see the hotel rooms a week ago and to see about having the rehearsal dinner there; it wasn't until then that we found out that there was another annual function that was going to be happening in town and that almost all of the other rooms were blocked off, and that we only had one room left on our block. With that being said, all of our rooms have almost been filled and I haven't even sent the invitations that states where the reduced hotel rate is for the wedding date; so I'm going to have to book another hotel which will cause me to have to book another shuttle to take the guests to the venue and I have to REORDER invitations!! I am very disapponted that my fiancé was not told that there would be limited room in the hotel when he called to block off hotels in the first place. All of our guests live over an hour away from the venue and we know of several out of state guests who have not booked yet (this includes guests from CA, MD, and OR). Therefore, they were informed that we were going to need a lot of rooms.
With all of that being said, I was given no sympathy on the phone when I expressed being upset about already having my invitations. Also, when we went to view the hotel rooms (around 345 in the afternoon, check in is 4) we were told that NONE of the rooms were clean to view them. Also, we wanted to see about having a rehearsal dinner at the establishment and we were only shown one of the rooms to have the dinner in but we were told we would probably choose one of the smaller rooms, which were not shown to us.
In conclusion, this hotel has been the most stressful part about...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed again this year at the Ramada in Ligonier for the Scottish Highland Games on 9/16. We always stay here for the games and find the hotel to be clean and accommodating. We arrived at 1:30 p.m. on the 15th and our room was ready, Rm. 227. Top floor, near an elevator with a queen bed. I was unhappy when we went to unpack in our room because there was no suitcase stand to put our suitcase on. It's annoying to lay it on the floor, which I won't do, so we put it on a chair and had to keep making sure it was situated securely. I feel EVERY room should have one of those. Maybe someone took it home with them??? Also, the parking situation at this hotel is terrible, in our opinion. They have one parking lot in the back of the hotel but across from a restaurant, bed and breakfast called Thistledown. Thistledown has no actual parking lot and relies on street parking. During the summer they can get pretty busy at night so what happens is that the diners park in the hotel parking lot, taking up needed spaces for guests at the Ramada. If you dare to leave to go to dinner while staying at the Ramada and take your car on a Friday or Saturday night, when you come back you won't find anywhere to park until the diners across the street go home. This could be handled much better by the hotel simply giving you a tag to hang in your car showing you are staying there. Post a sign saying "cars without tags will be towed". And then enforce it. For all we know, the Thistledown pays the manager at the hotel to use the lot, but it shouldn't be honored on busy weekends when the hotel is full and they know they need the parking spaces for their guests. ||This hotel offers free breakfast which was pretty good. Hash browns of some sort would be a nice addition. All in all, if you visit Ligonier which is a lovely little town, we recommend this hotel and we will probably stay there again...
Read moreWe chose this hotel because it was closets availability to Idlewild. We got here around 8pm on a Saturday night. Walking in there was an odd smell in the hallways and they were very humid for such a cool night. Google maps brought us in through the back so we had to find the front desk which is located in the lobby. We had to walk down 3-4 flights of steps to find it lol.
Some how when booking through Expedia we booked for October 16th not September 16. Mark at the front desk explained we’d have to contact them to switch the date. We did after a good 45 minutes of runs round from them! He was very pleasant with us and got us into the same room we had already booked.
Once we got to our room I was very happy to see how clean it looked and how good it smelled. The air conditioning was on so the room was a nice cool temperature as well. The beds were so comfy!! The pull out bed to the couch was nice and clean and there were clean sheets and a blanket for it as well. Again the beds are comfy!!!!!
When we got up the next morning we of course came down to breakfast. I expected a mediocre breakfast with just bagels and cereal, but that was not the case! There was a fresh waffle making station, fresh scrambled eggs, sausage links, yogurt, bagels, cereal, toast, cheese danishes, coffee, both apple and orange juice. It was a very good breakfast and my two kiddos were very happy along with the hubby lol.
All in all this was a very pleasant stay for our family. I like to think I’m picky when it comes to hotels because sometimes they seem nice on the web, but once you get there they are a hotel from hell!! I am happy to report that this one is not! If we are ever in the area again. We will for...
