Really disappointed in this library. If you want flashbacks to getting in trouble as a kid back in elementary school, come here. Like many people, I work from home and like working new places to switch up my home environment. Every time I try to come here to work, I am reminded why I shouldn’t come here. Let me preface by saying I have worked at multiple other libraries before with positive experiences. The staff at the Ligonier library is the opposite of welcoming. They make you feel in trouble for minding your own business. Once, I was quietly working at a table when three librarians approached me. They told me they saw me working here and said I needed to leave the building every 30 minutes to “cleanse the air because of covid.” Meanwhile, I was the only person even in the library. It made so sense. Instead of packing up my laptop every 30 minutes to walk around the block, I left. I came back again to see if things had changed. I went into the reading room, and immediately a librarian told me I couldn’t be “clacking away” at a laptop while people were reading. Let me say that 1. I didn’t even have my laptop out yet, which is more quiet than someone flipping the pages of a book🤣 and 2. No one was even IN the reading room haha! I was by myself! These librarians have some sort of attitude that I don’t get. I won’t be returning and I would never bring kids here or recommend this place to anyone. Unless that is, you want to constantly be approached by librarians who just want to get you in trouble for minding your own quiet business. Don’t come here. I think the librarians missions are to make this place as stuffy and unwelcoming as possible. Congratulations. You have succeeded,...
Read moreI've been here twice, and each time there was a problem with staff being rude. This is definitely not a kid friendly environment. Both times I was given attitude about my daughter. Today one staff member even took my daughters chair away from her. The staff acted like she didn't notice my daughter was using it, even though she was right there with her book, and the chair was maybe 2-3 feet away from me. My daughter started to cry and I told the staff member that my daughter was using the chair. She seemed annoyed and said "then make sure it isn't in the way" but it was off in a corner, and no other families were in the kid area. So how was it in anyone's way to begin? The first time I took my child here, she was looking at a picture book and was saying the animals, colors and so on. A staff member asked me to move because she was being "loud" I asked where we would move to since we were in the kids area, and that I didn't understand how she was being too loud just by reading. Its not like kids/toddlers read in their head. Whats the point of a kid area, if kids aren't allowed to make noise or even read through a book? I understand libraries are to be a more quiet setting, just don't have a kids section if they aren't even allowed to read the books. The staff members were far louder than my child was. I ended up just leaving instead of moving...

The current administrator ignores parental concerned regarding encouraging book that encourage family values, personal responsibility, and open communication with cultural issues. After multiple book recommendations encouraging conservative values, no communication from the library was received. However, multiple book recommendations with liberal ideologies have been answered. Take note that the American Library Association is lead by a self- proclaimed lesbian Marxist. Can you see the bias?
The previous administrator reported concerned parents to the police following concerns of inappropriate children’s books!
Multiple people in our community have addressed our concerns regarding the appropriateness of the books in the children’s section to the Director,Lindsay. The content of the books justifies destruction of property and violence, as well as the destruction of families and the idea of personal responsibility. She patronizes those concerned with platitudes and defaults decision making to the American Library Association.
Enjoy this library, knowing that the director has little concern for actually engaging the community and a great deal or enthusiasm for inclusion (so long as you only agree with the...
