O.K. accommodations. Close to town square with charming shops. We were disappointed because of the expectations set by the website and photos. We knew breakfast was not included, but local breakfast spots opened 9, 10, or not at all. We were arriving around 6 and the website and review photos suggest there is food available to purchase - "Sweet Rust at Thistledown Seger House is the only spot in Ligonier, PA where you can find an ever-changing menu of spirits, food, and fun every weekend." What that means is an outdoor food truck with barbeque on the night we were there, with a local band playing music in the front yard. The website shows comfortable chairs by a fireplace in a sun room/porch. That was closed off and looks like it's being renovated. O.k., but that could have been noted on the confirmation. Rooms are like any you would find in a Courtyard/Marriott. Overall, updating the website (without a photo-shopped view of the Inn), and better descriptions would have set our expectation at a more reasonable level. Would...
Read moreThe good: The rooms are well appointed, clean and nicely decorated. The building and common areas are quite charming. Not so good: We arrived at 4 ;00 pm on a Sunday. The parking lot was empty and the entry locked. Walked around to the front of the building and that was locked as well. We called the number posted, no answer. My wife checked a mailbox and found an envelope with our name and a key. The innkeeper called as we entered, seemed surprised the restaurant was closed and reccomended nearby pub/restaurants. Our daughter's had purchased wine to be left in our room and that was there when we arrived, that was the extent of our experienced hospitality. The website should be clearer on restaurant hours and advertised bourbon tasting. The expectation of food and spirits weighed on our choosing this place. We had neither. My advice: Don,t show up at 4:00...
Read moreWe spent a couple nights at this hotel while visiting Ligonier and the Laurel Highlands. It’s a beautiful and comfortable place to stay, with reasonable rates for a luxurious room with gas fireplace. The owners have maintained it very well, and it is immaculately clean. It’s not a B&B, as it does not have a restaurant or serve meals, but it does provide the experience of staying in a Late 19th, early 20th century-era home. Additionally, it’s a short walk to any number of cafes, restaurants, antique stores, and shops in Ligonier’s quaint downtown. There is a well-stocked coffee and tea bar with a Keurig in the hallway outside the rooms, and separate rooms downstairs for dining on take-out or relaxing. I highly recommend a stay at this hotel if you are looking for a romantic, comfortable place to stay while...
