2 and a half stars for this, can't quite give it 3 stars so I'll leave it at 2. I stayed here for my wedding this past weekend. I always thought the Hyatt was supposed to be a really nice hotel but everything was kind of sub par. The rooms were half clean and half dirty, the linens, sink, and toilet was clean. However the ledge below the tv was nothing but dust, it was painfully obvious when the curtains were open and the light shined in on it. Every mirror had crazy streaks on it, looks like they tried cleaning it with water. And when I moved the stool to pull out the couch bed there was crumbs underneath which shows they didn't move it when they were vacuuming. The breakfast was good enough, having worked the hotel breakfast before I knew what to expect as far as the quality and taste, however they served the same thing 3 days in a row! We were never allowed to do that at the hotel I worked at, people want a variety. I was pretty limited as to what I could eat considering I don't like eggs and I don't like pancakes. And one last thing, remember I said I was here for my wedding, I extended my stay an extra night and willingly kept our daughter on OUR WEDDING NIGHT so that she could get plenty of pool time in. She was so excited to go swimming and play in the pool, only to for them to have it closed THE ENTIRE TIME. I bet my husband that they would open it when we went to check out, and wouldn't you guess when they decided to open the pool back up? Yupp, right when we checked out. I realize that pools are a lot of maintenance. There are certain PH levels they need to stay at, water needs to be refilled, pool towels are constantly being washed. But let me tell you, it does not take 3 days for the PH levels to get where they need to be. My daughter was crushed and so upset. And I felt screwed out of my wedding night with my husband because we never stay in hotels and wanted our daughter to have a good time. To be fair they did offer everyone to use the pool at a gym down the road, however it was very cold that. Windy and in the 30's, we did not want to go swimming and then have to go out with our wet hair and freeze to go back to the hotel, plus I don't think it's fair for the actual gym goers to have their pool invaded by hotel guests.
One last thing, maybe it's just me being extra picky but I had booked a hotel room block there, took pictures in my wedding dress in the lobby, everyone was very aware it was our wedding day, and there was no note left in the room. No complimentary anything. I've spoke with several of my friends who got married and stayed at other hotels in the area and they said they had a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries in their room, even just a nice Congrats note would have been great. But maybe that's just something the Hyatt doesn't do so I won't hold this against them too much.
Sadly, I do not intend on ever staying here again and as we all know the #1 way to get word out is word of mouth, and I don't have anything...
Read moreThis hotel averages a 4 but my experience here was more of a 3 than a 4. I will say that even though it's a 3/5 I would definitely consider staying here again if they continue to be in the lowest point cost for booking with points... but they are overpriced for the condition of the property and cleaning if you pay cash. I do like the location and it's close to everything you could want, unless you are in the area without a car for some reason.
The room was overall not too gross and acceptable to me for the night, but I did find more misses than I consider acceptable for a Hyatt brand property. The pictures speak for themselves. The beds were the best part, very clean, nice pillows and sheets, so they win on the most important part. The toilet and shower were mostly clean but there was gunk buildup and a hair on the ceiling. The sofa was not good enough. Also, I don't like that such a large room includes a bar sink and fridge but no microwave, but I think this is a Hyatt Place standard.
Grading the included breakfast depends how you look at it. Compared to the continental breakfast at a Quality Inn or compared to not getting anything included at all, it's great. However it is way below other Hyatt Places. They had trouble keeping things stocked (it wasn't super crowded), the taste was just okay, not great, the oatmeal looked disgusting so I skipped that, the yogurt wasn't good either, the coffee was better than I expected. Overall you will probably find something to eat that is okay, but the last Hyatt Place I stayed at felt like a proper restaurant breakfast so this was disappointing.
The employees I saw were nice. I was here for just one night so I don't know if they provide cleaning service. Also their pool is closed and it seems like it was closed 4 years ago too so I wonder what's taking them so...
Read moreFirst time staying at a hyatt. Really like the decor, but there is definitely some attention to detail lacking with the functionality and cleanliness of the room. We had a toilet that didn't flush correctly and had to wait a good twenty+ minutes to just have the concierge rep come up and plunge it. There were some strands of hair found on the counter top from what we can only assume was a previous guest. Dust on the exhaust fan in the bathroom that clearly hasn't been cleaned in a while and a black mark in the tub that looks like something dropped and chipped the enamel. Another complaint about the bathroom is that the toilet and tub are only private from the sink area/bedroom (which is fine); but, the area is so small you have to maneuver yourself around the toilet to open and close the door. Great things about the room: awesome electronic panel for the TV on the side to allow for ease of access when hooking up different components. Great size for a non-suite room with a separate living area from the bedroom, a wet bar with mini fridge, and a small desk to work at or eat. Furniture and decor are more on the modern side with a sleek look to them. Sectional sofa in the living room also opens up into a sofa bed. Breakfast is included and is better than a typical continental breakfast. Food seemed to be constantly filled so no one was waiting around. Small seating area for how many guests this hotel can hold; however, they open up the meeting room for additional seating. 24 hour room service, but kind of pricey. Extremely close to all types of shopping and eating options and an easy drive into Ann Arbor for a game! Would definitely recommend this hotel to someone looking to stay in the area and would come...
