I love many of the choices at Costco although they do seem limited in their beer and alcohol selections. I would love to see many more local beer and spirits available at bulk prices. I'm a huge supporter of local products. There are certainly many high quality breweries in Michigan to supply them.
It was also hard to find cases of bottled water, which is what I came here for mainly, and hard to find a worker to ask where it was... In the far back left corner of the store, the furthest from the exit you could get! I didn't think of asking the demo people because I didn't think they would know. By the way I love the demo samples here!
But the prices for very good food can't be beat. I bought an amazing Hacao Prawns pre-cooked Asian food based on trying a sample. It's prawns, which are almost interchangeable with shrimp, with sea bass all wrapped up in a rice envelope or pod. I love this stuff! It comes with a very good soy ginger sauce and is much much less expensive than eating out at a good Asian restaurant.
Excellent Mexican queso (for melting) cheese at an excellent price, only $4.59 a pound. Compared to a national organic chain grocery, that's less than half the price per pound.
On a previous trip I bought Bellavitano cheese at between $6 and $7 a pound, compared to the organic grocery, where it's typically twice the price.
Prices are really good on snack foods like nuts and pistachios and Trail mixes. Not much of a selection I thought on the types of chips I usually buy, Fritos and Cheetos and sometimes wavy potato chips to go with dips.
There was a really cool, well-built and good-looking bicycle here but only one style and one size apparently. It didn't fit me. I'm tall but even at a 27 in. wheel size, this model was not proportioned correctly for my long legs. Disappointing.
Also I got a good deal on eyeglasses. The selections were quite limited compared to atypical optometry national outlet, but the price savings was worth going through and choosing among styles. It's rather odd that some selections are different from store to store. Even though my vision insurance isn't covered directly, I believe they will cover part of this expense as an out-of-network provider.
In short, there are great prices on items because you can buy in bulk, but oftentimes selections...
Read moreVery upset with this latest visit to Costco. They claimed to have an excellent return policy, but anytime I have tried to return anything, I am always given the runaround. I once purchased some thing that had a recall on it, and when I tried to return it after calling the manufacturer and Explaining to me that there was a recall at Costco was aware of they should return the product no problem Costco refused to return the item and told me it was not their responsibility, So I had to throw two cases of food worth $60. This latest visit I tried to return chicken that was spoiled when I bought it, When I bought the chicken, I did not realize that there was only three days before the sell by date, but when I took it home and opened it, the chicken was slimy and had a bad smell to it. When I tried to return the item, the lady was rude and did not want to return the item because it was expired, I explained that because I live 45 minutes away and I am only able to get there every 3-4 weeks when I have a day off and I’m able to spend the time to go as between driving and shopping it’s roughly a four hour adventure. The day that I bought the chicken and realized it was bad. I did call Costco and spoke to someone and explained my situation. They gave me their name and told me if they give me any issues just to say that I had already spoken to this person and they would make sure it was not a problem.
I’m not understanding why Costco is the way it is a visit a few months ago they were returning a $10,000 watch for a customer and his reason for return was because he wanted to buy this year’s model and that watch was last year‘s model and Costco returned it without question but they give me a problem on a $26 pack of chicken.
I do believe Costco Is bias and the way they do things especially returns, You see the News stories of them returning a culture bad 10 years later, but they give issues on food that they have an open recall for.
Costco needs to get things together so stuff like this stops happening, because I’ve heard from other people similar instances happening and typically it’s lower income people who they do these things to.
I used to love supporting Costco but now I do it only when I...
Read moreNo one in the tire department answers the phone. I have so many negative experiences with Costco tire departments from multiple locations.
I went to one location they broke the key to the locks on my tires and shared that I would have to go get a new key or get the locks broken then come back to get the tires put on. I thanked them for their time and asked for a refund (because you have to pay for the tires before they are put on). The gentleman reiterated that there was no need for a refund because all I needed to do was get a new key made or get the locks broken and return. I then had to insist a refund.
Another Costco shared that I would need to go online pay for the tires then schedule an appointment to get them put on. I asked because he was looking at the tires I needed if I could reserve them ( like I did at the last Costco) or pay for them over the phone then to come in a specific time. He said no. I shared my scheduling restrictions. He stated they are only able to reserve tires for 24hours. I called on Wednesday and needed the tires to be put on Friday. I call back on Thursday. New person who shared they are unable to reserve tires and what I needed to do was come in pay for the tires and schedule the appointment then if they don’t have them in stock.
I then wondered if the individual Costco’s had their own policy so I called this Costco 7 different time at different time of the day on different times of the week with the call ringing consistent never connecting with the tire department.
Additionally the pharmacies, I call to see when my prescription will be ready they give me an estimate. I receive the text saying your prescription is ready when you get there it isn’t; they ask for 15 minutes and encourage you to walk around the store you give them 20 minutes. Wait in line again to getting up to the counter and waiting an additional 15 minutes for them to fill it while you are at...
