Took my mother in for her birthday. Both in a good mood. We both got identical orders of Jerk Chicken, and Plantains with extra plantains. She got a strawberry daiquiri.
Our order was missing items. I had 5 plantains and she had 4. So we didn’t understand what was going on. Both our orders were missing the pineapple chutney that’s a part of the meal and her drinks was completely melted and tasted like pure alcohol.
Anyways, we waited for our waiter to come back something like 10 minutes but he never did.
So we flag this Blonde female waiter and asked if she could get our waiter. He came back and admitted the strawberries were watery and made the drink taste overly strong. Mind you I’m not yelling or raising my voice or anything like that it wasn’t that big a deal. Just told him we didn’t want the drink and he left.
I then realized about the food. Waited for a while the guy never came back, so I waved the lady over again. So I could ask about it and I realized ( after the fact ) she was giving me the third degree the whole time acting like she didn’t know what came with the order how or much of somewhere we are supposed to get. Despite the fact she works there and serves food.
Mind you I’m not trying to get more or free food. Which is why she offered free food I said no. I’m just trying to make sure our order was right. Which it wasn’t. Anyways she left, and I mistakenly wanted a water. I
Waited for our waiter. Doesn’t show up. Called the lady over. I said sorry to keep bothering you but our waiter doesn’t want to show up. She goes on to tell me how he’s the Bar tender also and I said he still probably should have showed up at least once to checkup on his table ( We were there for 30-40 minutes he never showed up except when we had the lady grab him for us ) and mid sentence she’s walks away, yells across the room for me to “calm down”.
Now, I know people always try to make themselves out to be blameless. But I’m telling you until right then I hadn’t raised my voice the whole time. No yelling, no anger, no getting in peoples face, none of that nonsense but the second she yelled at me I raised my voice and said “I am calm”.
But I definitely wasn’t after that cause I could feel my blood pressure sky rocket. She came back and, once again I didn’t raise my voice or yell just asked for bowls and the check so we could leave before I made a scene.
Paid my bill and tried to leave. And I swear, I swear I’m not making this up I had to wait there, blood boiling while my mother threw up her food in the bathroom because of the daiquiri and the unnecessary drama.
Keep in mind I realized pretty quick they were probably understaff. Which is why I wasn’t freaking out the whole time because of the slow service and because I worked service and I know what’s what. And truth was I wasn’t really paying to much attention to female waiter because I was trying to make conversation with my mother but we just had to keep stopping to get things fixed with no service. Which I’ll remind you until the staff literally yelled at me I wasn’t even making a bid deal about it just trying to get things situated so we could enjoy our meal.
Ether way I’d call and complain but because she wasn’t our waiter her name isn’t on the receipt or id go back and talk to management cause that’s nuts.
I’m not even upset at the waiter/Bar Tender for never showing up. I actually tipped him. It’s that lady and honestly if I wasn’t so focused on my mother’s birthday and had realized what was going on sooner I would have handled it very differently. But I guess it’s all my fault in the end cause god forbid I wanted to make sure I got the food I paid for or a water.
Only reason the score isn’t a 1 is I have had good service from there but I hadn’t gone there in a while but I’m trying to be fair.
TL;DR
Bad food. Horrible service. The atmosphere ( when you’re not being yelled at ) is actually pretty nice ngl.
I will never...
Read moreSad to say we won't be going back due to the lack of service from the bar staff Kristina E. She served us unfortunately the entire night. My husband and I dined at the bar for a fun relaxing date night. The food was great and the drinks were good but the service was a turn off. We sat down and didn't even get addressed just a single menu placed on the counter. We weren't offered water or silverware. I had to request water and she only gave us 1 when she brought us both alcoholic drinks. She seemed to be in a rush but we watched as she just wasn't making an effort to be a decent server to us at least. She rushed to take the food ordered just from my husband at 1st until I told her I wanted the same thing before she rushed off. Then we had to catch her attention just to request more drinks. Then she never came back to check on us. I didn't get to ask which drinks were which from the flight we ordered. We saw her give good service to a male who sat down alone right next to us. Maybe she liked his flirting over our business. She engaged him the entire time and a held conversation. Finally we were fed up and had to ask her for the bill and a to go box which she quickly placed down then walked away. I planned on ordering dessert but her lack of interest in serving us made us end the night after we finished eating instead of spending more money and time there. Again the vibe, music, and food were good but the bar service was not good. We like Bahamas Breeze but we will just try the one in Troy next time. We really like to show our appreciation toward good service but we couldn't this time. We gave the minimum suggested tip because we use to work in restaurants but not as much as we normally would and not in cash. Hopefully the business puts the bar staff through a better training program. Maybe the dine in table service was better than ours but other patrons can provide that feedback in their reviews. Others should use this review as a reason to wait for a table or do take out if they absolutely need...
Read moreI love this restaurant..the food and the atmosphere. I've been here a few times and each time I think it's actually been for Mother's Day. I guess it's become somewhat of a tradition for my family. This year because we couldn't get reservations for the actual day we decided to celebrated with our mother on the Saturday prior to Mother's Day. They are very accomadating with reservations. I was running a few minutes late and called to let them know so they moved my reservation up 15 minutes and even after I got there and all of my party wasn't there they still seated us. At the time of this visit the restaurant was pretty crowded. The waiter was a little new and seemed a bit overwhelmed but he was very gracious and made every effort to correct anything that was wrong or not satisfactory to us. I love the fact that they have a variety of food from Jamaican to American and Seafood. In the past I've gotten the buttermilk fried chicken over mashed potatoes which has always been delicious. I've also gotten the jerk Wings which were tasty as well. This time I decided to try something different and got the macaroni and cheese with lobster tail. The lobster tail was okay but more breading than I would have liked. The mac and cheese was tasty as well however I could have done without the peppers in it as I prefer it traditionally made. We had a large party and for the most part everyone seemed to be satisfied with their menu choices of food as well as drinks. Some things took a little while for us to get and I believe this was due to it being a busy time as well as the waiter was somewhat new. However overall we had...
