This hotel was a bit of A roll of the dice at $66 a night. But based on some of the other reviews and the photos I thought I'd give it a try since it was just a quick overnight stay to break up the trip. The two reasons I chose this were primarily for the pool and for the breakfast. First let's talk about the pool, the hot tub was out of service and the pool should have been as well. There was no typical aroma of sanitizer to be found in the pool and it was littered with a layer of dead bugs and the water was cloudy. It had a slightly stale smell to it and no one should have been allowed to go in it. There were no pumps running for the skimmer or the filters it was just a pond of stagnant water. The picture of the inside of the pool area shown online is clearly years old, it's in a major state of disrepair and none of the plants exist and the ceiling fans are about to fall off the ceilings. Wasn't expecting too much for the breakfast, coffee out of a cheap machine, it was fine, cold cereal was available, but it was not crunchy anymore, the waffle maker was hopeful but the batter they used was akin to the instant add water to batter so the product wasn't that great even though the cooker was awesome. The overall state of the facility was in major disrepair, I mentioned this to the front desk person, and they said it was because they couldn't find any good help but that's not my problem. A lot of the things I saw were just handyman punch out items and I was thinking how giving me two days there I could have knocked out a majority of the things that were not working. The room was fine, we were overwhelmed with the bleach smell when we first opened the door, the air conditioner was a little bit noisy but functional, there was a buildup of soap on the sink handle that was not just from the last guest. The TV’s were antiquies, RCA, too a count of “5” for it to change channels. But we weren't there for the television and it was fine to help take your mind off the rest of the place and get to sleep. By the way, the colors and the pictures I thought might indicate a fun lively place, but it was just a sign of poor taste in decorating. The owner would do well just to tone down the colors, replace some light bulbs and clean up that pool area. It wouldn't take much to make this a nice place. I learned my lesson next time I'll spend another 20 to $40, seems like around $112 to $120 is the sweet spot for a good road trip hotel...
Read moreThis hotel stay was a big disappointment. You get what you pay for…it was one of the cheaper hotels in town, and I was impressed by the pictures that they showed of hte property. Unfortunately, reality did not match the outdated pictures. At some point, the mgmt spent a lot of money to update this hotel. Since, then, it has not been kept up.
The worst part of the stay was our troops. It was laid out as expected, but it was dirty, stained, and worn. The smoke alarm had been ripped from the wall. The shower/tub was dirty with mildew covering the shower curtain. The lock had been broken off of the door. The walls were stained and had holes in them. The bed and bedding seemed fine, though not particularly comfortable. The room did have an oversized mini fridge, showing how it might have originally been designed.
We were looking forward to using the pool after a long day of driving only to find out that the hot tub hasn’t worked in months (a sign said closed for maintenance) and the pool still has the cover over half of it. The chairs in the pool area broken, faded, and mismatched - like someone bought them from the local Salvation Army store. We didnt use the pool.
The lobby has nice looking furniture, but much of it is sagging from use. Right next to the front door, the mgmt stores the dirty mop and bucket - not an appealing sight as you come into your hotel, and probably a health code violation.
The hotel has a breakfast buffet, but it is not what the pictures show. Very basic continental fare - store bought cheap bagels and dried out bread, sugar cereals. There is an “on demand” coffee maker, but it isn’t real coffee. There is a waffle maker, but since no one uses the buffet, I wonder how fresh the “mix” actually is. The area is clean, so that is something.
Finally, the staff barely said two words to us when we checked in - no greeting, no have a nice stay, no explanation of the WiFi password, etc. Just took our money. Obviously, these folks do not have pride in their hotel or in their jobs.
If you want a cheap stay while traveling, this one is definitely cheap, but dont buy into the pictures thinking that you are getting a bargain - you will be disappointed if you believe...
Read moreWe had a great stay. Room 231 very clean, comfortable, cool a/c kept room very cold for entire stay, and very accommodating for needs. Only negative curtain gets in way of a/c coming out But can be tucked back to get good air. Friendly maids very kind and courteous. Maids made sure all needs were covered. Breakfast was very good. Only down fall for breakfast only 4 tables and small area but people flow in and out very well so not really a negative. Mary served our Sunday breakfast. Shes truly an amazing worker, works hard, very kind, worked hard but attitude never changed could have had a bad attitude but instead she was loving and kind and really had the guest best experience and interest in mind when serving guest. You don't find workers like her nowadays. A very valuable thing to have in work force. Thank you Mary for all you do. Pool was awesome and so was hot tub. Pool pluses was indoor for half pool and can swim thru a opening to outdoor pool and they had old phone booth like you would see in London England. Last thing was check out and it was simple and easy. Desk clerk Tommy she was so friendly and kind too. Talks to you like your long time friends That's happy to see you. There was a maintenance man that was friendly and talked to my husband and made sure our stay was good and wanted to know if anything he could do to make it better. We were in pool at the time where he was making sure everything was clean and working right. It was a very relaxing weekend and needed it so bad. Thank you all for what you do it really is important to people even if they never...
