First of all there were positives. The grounds were clean. The lady who checked us in was kind and helpful Now for the negatives. The chair in the hotel was broken. My husband went to sit down and the chair gave way and he flipped out of it. YOU COULD SEE WHERE THE REPAIR WAS POORLY DONE. THAT CHAIR SHOULD NEVER BEEN LEFT IN THE ROOM. We paid for 2 nights and left due to my husband not feeling well from the incident. An employee was notified she came to the room and removed the chair. Another chair was brought in that did not fit so she removed that chair. Well thank God my husband took pictures of that chair. The employee was apologetic. Well AN incident report was made. Now time came we checked out a day early did not stay the 2 nights we paid for only one. Well the front desk girl looks at the computer and says you checked in on this date the 13th I said no we checked in on the 14. She said no you did not. Hmm you would think I knew what day we got there. Well anyway I forgot I had the receipt which is hand written and it states we checked in on the 14th. I'm glad I have the receipt and incident report. IF THEY TRY TO SAY THEY HAVE NO RECORD OF ME STAYING THERE LIKE I SEEN IN PRIOR BAD REVIEWS I HAVE BANK RECORDS SHOWING TRANSACTION RECEIPT AND INCIDENT REPORT FILLED OUT BY AN EMPLOYEE AND RECEIPT FOR THE ROOM WHICH IS HANDWRITTEN. VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE PRACTICES. WE DID NOT GET REFUNDED. ALSO BEDS UNCOMFORTABLE AC WORKED ABOUT 25 PERCENT OF THE TIME AND DEAD ROACHES. GLAD WE LEFT. YOU CLAIM TO BE A FAMILY HOTEL.WELL PLEASE EVERYONE I CANT BELIEVE THEY ARE RATED AS WELL AS THEY ARE.WE STAYED BASED ON REVIEWS DO NOT STAY HERE. I READ PAST REVIEWS ABOUT ROACHES AND THE OWNERS RESPONSE SOMEONE BROUGHT THEM IN. HMMM. I SERIOUSLY DOUBT THE OWNER WILL...
Read moreHusband and I stayed overnight (campground) on our way from Michigan to South Carolina. This spot was almost exactly halfway. It suited our needs for a quick stop and the lady in the motel office at check-in was very nice.
We have 2 vehicles (Chevy suburban and Chevy Silverado 2500) with our 40' rig (4 slides). The back-in spot we stayed in was pretty tight and had a small tree on each side that did not allow for the slides to come out and be close enough to the hookups. If we pulled the rig forward away from the trees, we couldn't reach the hookups. Thankfully we had a hatchet with us and cleared some of the branches but even still we couldn't get hooked up to sewer. Again, not a make-or-break because it was just 1 night.
The spot next to us wasn't being rented out so we used it (with permission) to park our trucks. Our spot was too small to park them with our rig. It does appear that there is some overflow parking nearby.
The electric breaker box did not have an on/off switch to safely turn off the electricity before connecting so we were slightly concerned about that, and the "live" humming noise, but no catastrophies! Reasons to be sure you have a good surge protector.
The small bathroom/shower facility is certainly old and a little run down but it worked just fine for me. Water pressure was great and it's locked with a code so that was nice.
Two doors down from Cheddars, one of my fave chain restaurants, so hard to go wrong. Would absolutely stay here again...
Read moreMy comments here pertain to hotel side of the property. I have no specific experience with the campground. The PROS: The building is certainly aged but well maintained. The building and the grounds were clean and well lighted. The hotel is very conveniently located between a Waffle House and a Sunoco gas station and convenience store. Every person we encountered was very friendly and approachable. This is a no frills hotel. The room was VERY clean and well maintained, including the carpet. The small fridge was good and cold. The CONS: The chairs were a bit uncomfortable. While the AC was cold, it still took a long time to cool the room. We did not use the TV, but it is small. The most critical issue was the loss of our reservation. Fortunately, there was one last room available when we arrived. I recommend you call the hotel directly to make your reservation or to confirm the reservation you've placed online. There is no elevator for anyone mobiliy-impaired. Request a 1st floor room if the stairs to the 2nd floor are going to be a problem. Overall, I was very pleasantly surprised by the state of this hotel for our one night stay as we were passing through. It is convenienty located, clean, comfortable, and affordable. I highly recommend this hotel. Cheers and...
