I am Ukrainian and I was very excited about this place, but I will not come back.
Oh where do I even begin… It took a while to get drinks and food despite very few customers. My tea came in as a floating tea bag in a cup with no saucer to place the teabag on, but with a pile of napkins for some reason. Serving it in a teapot would be so much better. Syrnyky were severely undercooked and cold, and were like a mush inside with a light outside crust. Odd music choice (like elevator music); table decor was too large leaving little room for actual plates. The place felt too cramped.
Menu had multiple typos and/or spelling errors with rather odd menu items and ingredients. Ruben and pastrami sandwiches on a baguette? calling salmon roe a caviar? I can go on and on. I have a feeling that whoever opened this establishment has very little passion for it, and is using a few of simple Ukrainian dishes cooked from frozen for hype just to lure in clueless customers for an ultimate money grab. Ukrainian cuisine is so much more than the dishes that are being sold here, and it is just a very underwhelming experience that is being offered to the customers. Don’t try to serve weird guacamole or tuna sandwiches or pizzas or other “popular” items - you can’t compete with good local cafes. Those items might have worked back in Ukraine, but not here. Do more research...
Read moreMy experience of organizing a surprise birthday party for my husband in this beautiful place is beyond all the stars that I could possibly put here! First of all, the manager of this place was so responsible. He really cared about the celebration and helped me implement all ideas I had in my mind! From making a special menu of my husband’s favorite dishes, to bringing a special table for game!
I felt so supported and heard that I didn’t feel any stress of the organizing! I am so grateful from the bottom of my heart for all the help and high level of organization!
Food was so amazing and delicious that people who don’t live in LA now want to come back to this beautiful place❤️ They made a waffle cake for my husband that was absolutely delicious and the taste was just perfect, not too sweet. Absolutely amazing.
We had kholodets, crab salad, olivie, moxito, borsh, syrniky (everyone is now crazy about them), vareniky..i mean..we couldn’t stop ordering food..
People that work in this amazing place are pure angels. They were responsive to every ask and gave us space to feel like we were at home. We relaxed completely and everyone had an amazing time!
I will be forever grateful to everyone from this place who helped make my husband’s birthday unforgettable💖
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your love and care! I love...
Read moreI had just helped a man that fell down right before entering the restaurant and needed to help get rid of the blood on my hands from him, I came in and off the bat the restaurant itself is small, warm and cozy but I needed to use a restroom and didn’t see one so I waited for like at least 5 minutes with my partner up there (employees saw us from inside and didn’t say anything, mind you the restaurant was empty) so I went to venture off to find a bathroom in the hallways. I needed a code to enter and my partner was told the wrong code which made me have to go to the ihop next door to wash my hands off the blood. The restaurant itself is cute but the service in my situation was so so, take it as u will but in this situation it was important! Hopefully it was a one off situation. For the food, my partner is half Slavic and he said the borscht ($18) is really good and tastes homemade however he would add more sour cream on the side. The pelmeni ($18.5)was really good and fragrant especially paired with the sour cream so drown it in it!!! We also had the syrnyky ($18.5) and it was crispy and divine would have again. For the price though, seems a little steep but I think it’s my opinion :) Overall 4/5, food is great I would recommend, and will be...
