I recently had to travel to Los Angeles and was on a bit of tight budget. For over a week I poured over every hotel within my price range and all seemed to either be in sketchy areas or have awful reviews. But then I saw mid city-inn, with mostly positive reviews. What’s more, the staff responded to every review. I booked through a third party site and did not think about the reservation again. Originally I had planned to travel alone and fly in. The inn was a short distance from the studio I had to go to so the price and location were big draws. When we arrived, I realized I had forgotten to add my other two guests. The staff at the inn were very accommodating and only charged me a small fee for a two-bed room, and they allowed us to check in at 1130, when the normal check in time is at 2. This was great as we had driven 26 hours straight from Houston Texas to Los Angeles. Our stay was very pleasant. The room was very clean and we liked the blue painting and birds on the ceiling. The shower took a moment to heat up but once it did it got HOT and stayed that way. Made for some great showers. We had fresh towels brought every day without needing to ask for anything. When we ended up leaving a day earlier than planned, they even issued me a refund for the unused day, which was unexpected but certainly appreciated. The area looks rough, but in reality is not bad. There is a fire department across the street so there are sirens quite often but after one night you barely even notice anymore. All in all I was very pleased with the experience and would stay here again if I ever need to come to LA for...
Read moreWhen we first pulled into the tiny parking lot, we thought, what have we done? The motel did not look promising. The room was good, though. My comments refer to room 12 only; I didn't see others.||||The room appeared to have been renovated recently. The bathroom fixtures were new, the unusually tall beds were comfortable and didn't sag, and there were lots of electrical outlets. The room is small and qualifies as bare bones. The air conditioner worked nicely. The small refrigerator worked well, but the freezer part didn't freeze well. Wi-Fi was adequate.||||There is no microwave in any room. The communal microwave is in a little closet between two units. We didn't use it. There was no ice maker. There are not enough parking stalls for the number of rooms, but we never had a problem finding a vacant spot.||||This was the first motel we have stayed in since the COVID debacle started where the staff did daily room cleaning, making up the beds, etc.||||The original pillows in the room were ridiculously large and hard, but the desk clerk brought us more conventional pillows when we asked.||||The hotel seemed like a good deal for the area in Los Angeles where we wanted to stay. I deducted one star for less than thorough cleaning of the room, but the fact that they had daily cleaning at all surprised...
