Extended Stay America Premier Suites- Greenville - Spartanburg - I-85 — Hotel in Lyman

Booked our room online, was told to check in at the front desk when we arrived. It was past midnight but the booking information stated there was 24 hour service at the front desk to check us in. When we arrived, the doors to the lobby were locked and required a key card to get in. We tried calling multiple times and no one answered. Finally, a guest walking out held the door open for us and we were able to walk into the lobby. We waited at the front desk for over 45 minutes, not a person in sight. I was worried one of the workers might have had a medical emergency, so we looked around in the lobby bathrooms and office, no one was there. We called the after hours line multiple times with no answer. Finally, after a long day of driving 16 hours and waiting there for over 45 minutes, we called Expedia and requested a refund. This hotel is conveniently located from I-85 and has a new feel upon entering the clean lobby with friendly staff...and that's where the positives typically end. The third floor where we stayed for a week reeked like rotting garbage and was nauseating. For half our stay the AC did not work on this floor adding to the smell. As a lower end $ stay this place attracts low class behavior from fellow guests - don't be surprised to hear booming music from neighboring rooms, cigarette odor, or loud cussing at all hours of the night. The breakfast isn't anything fancy and you will likely skip the yogurt, fruit and granola bars after a day - the sealed boiled eggs have a chemical taste to them (gross). For the most part the rooms were clean. The bathroom on the other hand still had evidence from the last person there. Dirt on the soap shelves and hairs that they had shaved off.

But the smell in the whole place will just make you nauseous. I even swapped rooms for other reasons but the second room smelt just as bad. Granted i know contractors stay at places like this but i don’t want to smell their body odors when I’m trying to sleep comfortably.

I did go to check out this morning and no one was at the front desk, i heard them watching tv on their phone in the back, which is fine, because it’s early and no one else is moving around yet. But you should atleast...
