Customer service so poor, it could have been a Seinfeld episode. I called before we came to ask a question and i could not hear/understand the person who answered. Finally I asked, "Is this the Wyndham?" She said, "Wyndham is our rewards program. This is the Baymont." Once we arrived, the counter clerk checking us in saw us at the counter, but kept folding laundry until we used the counter phone to call her. She did not greet us but stared at us. I said I had a reservation and we'd like to check in. She spoke to us in phrases, like, "Driver's license." and held out her hand for it. Took forever to check in even though I had a paid reservation. (Was it her 2-inch long nails that kept her from typing faster?) When I asked about the delay she said she had to retype everything. (I asked the morning counter clerk if this was true and she said no, it was already in our reservation). I came down later to ask for an extra blanket. The same clerk did not come out to the counter but spoke to me from the laundry area. She said they had no extra blankets. I was a bit surprised, so I asked if she was certain. She then asked, "What kind of blanket?" I said whatever was on the beds. After a while she came out and slapped a folded sheet on the counter. I said that was a sheet, not a blanket. She said, "This is what is on the beds." I asked if she had anything heavier. She said, "What color do you want?" I said I wasn't sure what colors they had. She went in the back for a while and came out with one of those yellow/gold half quilts that decorate the beds. I mustered up some empathy and said, "You must not like your job very much." She leaned against the wall, stared me straight in the eye and said, "I happen to LOVE my job. It's your attitude I don't like." I was a bit taken aback and said,"My attitude?" She said, "Yes! You've had a bad attitude from the minute you came in here." So that's why I'm giving this hotel the lowest rating. Other cons was the the cracked mirror, stained shower curtain and one cockroach in our room. The positive light was meeting the morning clerk, Sherry - super personable and she did a very nice job setting up the breakfast, even apologizing for a lack of sausage which we didn't...
Read moreThis is the third time we've stayed here in the past few months, and I think it will be our last. The online reservation program always says the rooms are full, it may be user error, I don't know if its true or not. I have to call every time. This time, they said, "this is our last room", the price was bumped $50, then I spoke with another guest in the hotel pool area who told me they were told the exact same thing over the phone and given the same rate. I have stayed here when the price was under $90, and also paid almost $150, for the same style room. This time, the chain lock was pulled out of the wall, which I rely on having for my toddler's safety. The blow dryer was not fully attached to the wall. Breakfast was difficult. There are 3 tables and 5-10 people trying to use a miniature kitchen at the same time. At 8:30 they were out of waffle mix, fruit, coffee creamer, and cold eggs, breakfast goes until 9, they never restocked anything. We made toast and cereal and carried it to the room on stacks of plates since there wasn't a place to sit. It would have been a ton easier to transport back to the room if the milk were in individual cartons instead of gallons. When we got back to the room, the key card was not working. It was working an hour prior when I got coffee. I left my 3 kids sitting on the floor in the hallway eating their breakfast while I went downstairs to reactivate my key card. That was frustrating. Our toilet was also moved away and sat at an angle, which was wierd. At the pool, the water was freezing. There were guests with small children who left the pool area right away because it was too cold for their toddlers. There were no towels available. I mentioned that they were out, no one brought more, we had to drip up to our room. It was a very frustrating stay, so many things that left me feeling uncomfortable about staying here again. If I had known about some of these things, I would have honestly stayed somewhere else. We are not usually...
Read moreI prepaid for the Baymont because of the pool for my daughter to use since our reason for stay was an unpleasant one that would be quite boring for an 8 year old. Upon arrival the pool was closed for cleaning but we were assured by the person at the desk that it would be open the next day. However the pool was not open the next day. It was open the 4th day of our stay. The water looked strangely cloudy near the light at the deep end. The hottub, as my daughter put it, smelled like a dirty fish tank. We didn't use it upon smelling. Our 5th and final day of our stay the pool was again closed. The breakfast was decent except for the day we went to eat halfway through the designated breakfast time and there was hardly anything left. We had a non-smoking room than had been smoked in and stunk like an ashtray. We ended up moving rooms because the heater didn't work. In our second I found that of every available outlet the bottom socket didn't work. This made charging our phones, tablets, and my laptop difficult along with adding to the overall negative appearance of the hotel. The cable TV channel lineup left in the room had probably 30 channels listed but only about 12 were available and they were what you would expect from over-the-air stations to be. The bathroom shower head liked to run half of the water out of the bottom straight down rather than spraying it out as it should. The bathtub had holes in it where the washcloth holding rod should have been. The backdoor to the hotel was never locked and thus easily accessible to anyone with foul intentions. To top it all off, every time I saw the cleaning staff, they would give me dirty looks like they would rather me leave than give them money to stay. On the plus side, the pillows were soft and the bed was really comfortable. I tend to wake up with a backache if I sleep too long but that didn't...
