Assisted Living-Style AirBnb. This is not a hotel, but rather a retirement home with some rooms setup for short-term rentals. I have no idea how this shows as a 5-star hotel or how it has such a high rating on hotels dot com. Upon our arrival the unit was a sauna when we walked in (~95 degrees in the room). The suite was so uncomfortable we turned on the A/Cs and left to dine out (& also to escape the smell -- more on that to follow). Even by bedtime one of the bedrooms was still over 80 degrees! Parking lot smelled like rotten eggs & sewage. Hallways smelled like stale smoke, burnt coffee & vitamins. The unit smelled off too (like dust and deli meat?), hard to describe but definitely not a fresh welcoming smell that you would expect from any hotel. There was an odd mishmatch of decor and knitted items. The bed provided poor sleep (soft, lumpy mattress); pillows and linens were poor and the comfortable and throw pillows smelled dusty. The bedside lamps put off a cold white light further detracting from the already poor ambiance. Overall I'd rather opt for a Motel 6 as at least our room would be cool, clean, smell decent and have a reasonably comfortable bed. As a "hotel" this place should be, at best, a 1-1/2 star. Really felt duped overall and would have preferred a stay most anywhere else. PROs: - Suite size - Pool(s) - Location - Friendly front-desk staff CONs: - Oppressively offensive smells throughout - Cleanliness (lack of) - Hot & uncomfortable room - Decor - Quality

I attended a conference in Mesquite which was at a large casino/hotel, and most everyone stayed there. But due to some edgy reviews, I decided to stay here, at the Mojave Edge because it had fairly decent reviews and was far away from all the noise and traffic. Talking to the other folks during the week, the reviews were right. Although the hotel's cleanliness was a bit disappointing, it did not extend to the kitchen, bed or bath .. these were all without issue. Shower was fine. Kitchen has basic dishware and silverware, cold refrigerator and decent but small microwave. Check in was very pleasant, the room was more than suitable, and the A/C was very effective. My only real complaint is that there are no drapes on the windows. The blinds close, but the rooms are extremely bright, and that's annoying. Drapes would be a big plus. Good television. large flat screen in the living room, small monitor in the bedroom. Good channel selection. Great outside amenities too. Pool, shuffleboard, plenty of patio and furniture, and a fitness room with free weights ... don't see that very often. Bottom line, I would stay here again without hesitation.

We had a pleasant experience. The room was a studio apartment, complete with a kitchen and a living room. Quite roomy for the two of us. I would go with a larger floor place if you have more than two people. This was an assisted living facility that has been converted to a hotel. There were several full - time residents. You are not within walking distance to the casinos, but it is a short drive. Price was reasonable for the space. Less than the nicer hotel/casinos wanted for a single room. The only negatives are that the rooms do not have window coverings to block out the morning light. We were awakened at 5 am by the sunlight. We checked in late. 1 am. I did call in advance and let them know we would be late the ensure this would not be an issue. Took about 10 minutes to find someone who worked there. The carpet in our room could have used a good cleaning. Overall I can recommend them and would stay again.

Highland Estates provided an exceptional experience as a place to stay for a few days. The rooms were nicely decorated and well furnished, the pools/facilities clean and pleasant, and the front desk staff kind and very helpful. Overall, it was a five-star experience; however, there are a couple of caveats to bear in mind. One, the soundproofing isn't the best - we were able to hear a fair amount from adjacent rooms as well as people running up and down the stairs, which resulted in earlier awakenings than we'd have liked. Two, there don't seem to be any rooms with bath tubs. I believe this is intentional, but something to keep in mind if a relaxing bath is on your to-do list. Three, the hot tub, though nice, was the hottest I've ever been in. Not entirely a bad thing, but I could only stay in it for about five minutes at a time. Four, the front desk staff, though helpful and very pleasant, sometimes have other matters to attend to and don't keep a backup person handy, which resulted in us having to wait over 15 minutes to check out because no one was there to acknowledge receipt of our keys. Again, not a terrible thing, but something to keep in mind in case you have a tight schedule to keep. So yes, overall, it was a five-star experience and we'll definitely stay again; just a couple things for fellow travelers to...
