We travel with our dog and previously utilized LaQuinta Inn & Suites as it was the main chain hotel that allowed pets. Since 2020 a lot of hotels have changed their pet policy and have fees and some even have weight limits. ||Once we began traveling again, I came across Homewood Suites by Hilton and signed up to be Hilton Honors member. There are a few Hilton properties that allow pets, with a fee but Homewood doesn't have a weight limit, and all their rooms are like small studios with a kitchenette instead of just a microwave and mini fridge. ||Due to the length of time we were going to be in Metairie/New Orleans area we decided to get a King suite which has a kitchenette with a full-size fridge and fully stocked with dishware, utensils, a 2 burner cook top, dishwasher, a living room and a separate bedroom.||The hotel: modern, clean and in the perfect location for us to travel to the French Quarters, Smoothie King Center, etc. within 12 - 15 minutes depending on traffic. There are two additional neighboring hotels. It is a true pet friendly hotel with grass in the front, side and the back along with pet bags and trash can. And you can also walk the neighborhood as there is grass along the sidewalks. The area seems relatively safe but as with any travel just be aware of your surroundings at all times. Also, they have a reception on Wednesday from 5:00 - 7:00 pm with light appetizers and drinks. ||There is a Whole Foods within walking distance of the hotel along with various food options and a shopping mall. There are also a multitude of restaurant options within a five-mile radius of the hotel. ||I will say the room was slightly smaller than what I was expecting but after being here six nights already it's not bad. The rooms are modern and clean but if you look closely, you will see minor damage along the baseboard area but nothing to be alarmed about just normal wear and tear. Our room faced the front of the building and there is a two-lane street out front, but we didn't experience any street noise.||The hotel has a nice exercise room and a laundry room. You can do laundry for free, but you have to have your own washing detergent, etc. We didn't utilize the pool ||The staff that we have interacted with mostly have been friendly and accommodating. With the exception of one of the front desk representatives which can come across as rude as he doesn't smile and barely speaks. And the breakfast attendant that was adamant about not giving me a green banana (she actually said it was bad for me, LOL) but she wanted me to eat an over ripped brown one instead. I got my green banana and by the next day it was how I prefer them. ||These are some minor nuisances during our time here - they are renovating some of the rooms on our floor. We didn't have any issues with the noise, but I believe there were patrons on the floor below that did. ||The bathroom with the toilet and shower has a door and the sink is in an enclosed area, but it needs a barn door or french doors. If someone gets up earlier and wants to wash their face or brush their teeth, they need to turn on the light and that can wake up the person still in bed. ||There was only one elevator available as the other was being worked on. From my understanding this should be all be completed before Taylor Swift comes to town. ||With all that said, I would highly recommend this hotel, and I would definitely stay here again if I'm ever come to...
Read moreI had two reservations at Homewood Suites in Metairie, La December 21st - December 23rd booked through Hilton December 23rd - January 3rd booked through Expedia
I checked in with Homewood on December 21, 2021 with Front Desk Agent Jeffrey for a room with two queen beds and a sofa bed. He asked were we going to use the sofa bed and I told him yes. Well needless to say the sofa bed was completely useless (broken) and Front Desk Jeffrey and Daniel was notified; however, they still charged me the same room rate without any discounts. Secondly, since we been here at Homewood, we have been making noise complaints everyday several times a day starting in the morning as early as six something in the morning. This was told to Jeffery upon coming down to breakfast the next day after checking in on December 22nd and to every Front Desk Agent that worked. It sounds as though a child/children are jumping from the sofa bed onto the floor, the bed to the floor and just jumping up and down constantly even to the point that the hanging lamp in our room is shaking. I have even invited Front Desk to come to our room to hear the banging, jumping and slamming noises. We started off going to breakfast; however, that was substandard also just as the room we were staying in. They put just enough out there is run out before breakfast is over except for the eggs which seem to be imitation eggs or too much milk mixture in it. The apple juice you can tell is 1/2 part water and 1/2 part apple juice. I travel at least 3 times a year to New Orleans. My usual stay was LaQuinta on Williams Blvd until the pandemic then we started staying at the Residence Inn on Galleria Blvd. When we first walked into the hotel, we immediately started comparing it to the Residence Inn. Yes, the building is beautiful on the inside way better than the Residence Inn, However, other than that there is no comparison. There is also no comparison to the LaQuinta on Williams other than there is a kitchen with a fridge here. On December 25, 2021, I sent General Manager David Henson an email about the sofa complaint, til this day I haven't spoken to him yet nor has he replied. On December 29, 2021, besides calling on the phone twice because of the jumping waking me up, scaring me and have me jumping now I went downstairs to the front lobby again complaining. I asked Front Desk Agent Mr. Keith was a manager on duty and he told me David Henson, (the same person I emailed before however with no response from him) I told him I had to step out but will be right back to speak with him, needless to say I never spoke with him, everything was done through Front Desk Agent Mr. Keith (Great customer service skills and I actually thought he was the General Manager). I guess he was too good to speak with me, a guest paying money and not getting what I paid for (two queen beds with a usable sofa bed) I asked about a discount and basically was told I could not receive a discount. What a waste of my hard-earned money. This will be my last stay with Homewood Suites. This hotel gives all Homewood Suites a bad name. I do plan on going on social media to warn others to stay away from this hotel. As of yesterday 12/31/2021 Mr. Keith did comp my room for the Hilton reservation. Thank you. I am still waiting on General Manager David Henson to do something about my Expedia...
Read moreWe had a last-minute change of plans that required us to stay by the New Orleans airport, and this Homewood Suites seemed to check the boxes for an overnight stay. What I received instead was one of the cleanest hotels I’ve ever stayed in.||The hotel is about 15 minutes from the airport, so the location is convenient. I didn’t see a shuttle service, but it would be a short/inexpensive Uber or taxi ride if you don’t have a car. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance. ||Once you step in, you are greeted to a modern, beautiful property. It appeared to be relatively new. The lobby and public areas have the feel of an upscale hotel, and they have several amenities, including an outdoor barbecue area and pool, fitness center, and complimentary laundry. They have free breakfast, which is actually great and had lots to choose from.||The service was exactly what I would expect out of a hotel this class. Front desk staff were friendly, and when we had a clogged toilet upon arrival, the maintenance man arrived in just a few minutes and fixed it promptly. He was also extremely hospitable.||We chose the two queen studio (the least expensive room) and were incredibly pleased with the accommodations. This is suitable for extended stays and had a kitchenette with a two-burner cooktop, microwave, full-size fridge, and dishwasher. It also had plenty of cookware and utensils to prepare meals. ||But what really surprised me about this hotel was the cleanliness. This was one of the cleanest rooms I’ve ever stayed in. No lie! I couldn’t find even the smallest crumb or speck of dust on any surface here, and the hallways and lobby even smelled clean. Staff were regularly visible cleaning the dining room and other public areas. In fact, I even saw an employee sweeping leaves that accumulated in the parking lot… a first for me in hundreds of hotel stays.||This place exceeded my expectations. I couldn’t find anything to even nitpick about, and I wish that all hotels were like this. I would come out of my way to stay here again if I returned to New Orleans. Despite being slightly higher in price than some nearby hotels, it is well worth...
