Classic case of you get what you pay for. Would be 1 star but due to ease of booking and location to highway and places I needed to be at, received a little bump.
Arrived to check-in around 6pm. Front desk clerk was on the phone with someone and stated that she "was at work and had to check someone in". She did not say a word to me other than mouthing that she needed my ID but didn't ask for a card or anything for incidentals. Got our keys and were on our way.
A few rooms down the halls were a little loud with the music but it was early enough in the day that it wasn't THAT big of a deal. After driving 3+ hours, it would have been nice to have been a little quieter. Understandably, not fully the hotel's fault.
We returned one afternoon to find 5-6 police cruisers outside and had the front lobby full of 8 officers for one man, which seemed a little excessive. We had to cut in the middle of their "conversation" which was awkward and uncomfortable. Potentially even dangerous? Anyways, ✨ACAB ✨
After working our event and coming back to the hotel at 2 AM, we made it all the way back to our room to find out that neither of our keys were working. Likely due to the initial check-in not doing anything for us. Upon going to the front desk, nobody was there. Waited for ten minutes before calling. Someone answered and came out from the back and looked like they had been sleeping. Gave us only one room key with no explanation and disappeared out back again. There is a theme of nobody who works here saying ANYTHING to the guests.
Beyond the service, we have the actual rooms. They were actually a decent size for the price that was paid and that is about the nicest thing I can say. It smelled like someone's perfume. There was mold stains on the bathroom ceiling. The hot water in the shower does not get hot. We had to move some stuff around, like chairs and behind every surface there were piles of dirt and trash. The beds were basically metal cots and as long as you weren't plopping down too hard, they weren't too painful.
All in all, I did stay here a year ago and I don't remember it being this bad. Unfortunately, I will be looking elsewhere when I come back for a...
Read moreAVOID THIS PLACE AS AN OPTION The short, mean clerk at the front desk (and that's being nice describing him that way) was extremely dismissive, NASTY, verbally aggressive, and in need of a different career. We had an issue with our online reservation. We have reserved the current date and the following stay online (as it wouldn't allow us to reserve with an early check-in, 6:00 a.m. Which would have been adding the previous night to our reservation.) The computer won't allow that. We tried to call and couldn't get anyone . So we decided to just show up and hope we could check in early by getting someone in person there to modify our reservation. Just a simple change to accommodate earliy arrival travel plans was absolutely mind-blowing to this man . You would think we asked him,... fill in the blank with whatever ridiculous request you can think of. Something like cutting off his right arm, or asking if he would let his wife join us, maybe asking for a discount on the room ?? We wouldn't dare do that. We tried to explain we were ready to pay if we could check in early and he almost came over the desk and threw us out bodily. Mind you, we were completely calm. We were staring at each other wondering what the hell we just did as if we spoke another language and may have said something offensive unknowingly. We got out of there as fast as possible.. A block away is another hotel I would recommend. Less expensive and about the same quality. I mean I get what people say, you get what you pay for. These places are on the budget-friendly side of pricing. You're not getting the Ritz or a $500 a night room. Clarion is decent for the price. Everything is clean enough. They have a nice indoor pool. Most of all, their staff are so far very accommodating, flexible, and helped us with a smile. I never understand how hotels can have such strict check out and check in times. People are traveling, coming and going with different plans and needs. This crummy Clerk should know that. Why was it so hard for him. Threatening violence is not only unreasonable but...
Read moreWhen we went to check-in on Sept 2, 2023 at 3:30pm, the woman at the enclosed counter asked for our credit card and ID which my husband gave her. She gave my husband his ID and held the credit card. She left the counter and said she would be right back. We waited 15 minutes and my husband was getting upset and a guy there just jumped in and started arguing with my husband about the lady who was taking so long. The guy said check-in is at 3:00pm but that doesnt mean that we would be able to check in. This guy was raising his voice at my husband. So the lady came back and my husband said we were waiting for more than 15 minutes and she looks at me and in the rudest way said" I told you i was checking on a room" . I was so freaking upset I said "oh really for 15 minutes....you dont have to be rude we are going to cancel our reservation". I wasnt going to stay there after she raised her voice and was talking down to us. How the staff spoke to us made us feel unsafe. Also, we had to call our bank to make sure that there were no charges made. We plan to call thier corporate office as well. The counter had papers that was in a mess which should have been a warning sign but the website pictues do not look anything like the hotel. Anyone reading this, if this happens to you, record them. I was so upset i forgot to record them. For those who have stayed and been scammed, call and let the corparate office know how bad the room were and how aweful the management is at this roach infested, nasty smelling, with ignorant, poorly trained front desk people hotel. File a complaint with the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection..How in the world are they even licensed.... Save your money and stay somewhere else where you will be treated with dignity. Trust me i plan to warn as many...
