I travel with a vegan and a vegetarian having noted Bin 100’s vegan menu options we decided to make the 80+ mile round trip so glad we did! Beautiful restaurant with a lovely attentive staff and many menu choices. Along with vegan choices there were many gluten free and gluten free adaptable items. So nice that people with dietary restrictions seem to be thought of and easily accommodated. We shared the grilled vegan polenta bruschetta appetizer it was topped with a white kidney bean salad and lemon olive oil dressing. It was every bit as bright and flavorful as the description all three of us loved it and there was more than enough to share. I opted for the special which was a halibut over grains and roasted veggies topped with a slaw. The presentation was show stopping and the dish accelerated from there. It’s not easy to perfectly cook a large thick piece of halibut this one was absolute perfection. Just the right amount of crisp outside with a perfectly cooked succulent center. Can you tell I was blown away? One of my dining companions chose the escarole and bean stew with vegan sausage. He loved it! I had a spoonful and must say it was super flavorful just the right amount of spice beans were perfect not too hard or soft. My other companion had the potato gnocchi with roasted butternut squash and broccoli rabe. She enjoyed it immensely. I had a forkful or two found it to be another winning dish. The gnocchi were wonderfully light little pillows of deliciousness the squash, broccoli rabe and olive oil made the dish sing. We were thrilled to see the carrot cake dessert was vegan so we could share it! It was tasty and moist, just cinnamon forward enough to make it very special. Can’t tell you how thrilled we were to find this place we will happily make the...
Read moreI ate at BIN 100 on Saturday 5/23 of memorial day weekend, the cold dreary night. Bin 100 had a tent set up with white tablecloth tables. The first thing I noticed was the wall of certificates in one of the windows which showed staff was trained in covid-19 serving. The staff is well trained and I noticed two members who were dedicated to cleaning and disinfecting tables after guests left and the service door was cleaned and disinfected many times during the time we sat for dinner.
The hostess explained how we could either get a paper menu or access the menu on our phones, we chose to use are phones. Server took are drink order and we received a perfectly made Cosmo and Goose and soda. Great start. Took are dinner order, we had the Escarole, Bean & Sausage Stew which was perfect to warm us up. We had Rolled Chicken with prosciutto, fontina Cheese, Spinach with a Mushroom cognac sauce over Potato Puree, along with Pork Ossobuco. Both entrees were prepared perfectly and exceeded my expectations, The Pork Ossobuco was the best I've ever experienced.
The best part was to watch how well the staff has been trained and adjusted for serving outside during these difficult times. Very Impressive along with the fact that plate covers were used to bring the food out from the kitchen to the tables, it's these little things that make a difference when dining in today's new world.
We got Crème Brulee and Tres Leches for dessert to go so that we didn't take up much time at the table while others were waiting to be seated.
A great dining experience with a well...
Read moreMy experiences there are somewhat jaded I will admit. I eat out often, and have one simple rule about returning to a good restaurant. As I drink iced tea, my rule is that if the restaurant chooses to charge for refills, then I will choose not to return, even if the other parts of the meal are good. This is the case here, so let me be fair. The food was delicious, and so if I hadn't had iced tea, I probably would be back again. The prices are on the higher side, as everything is a la crate, unless you dine Sunday to Thursday where they have a 4 course meal for 37 dollars. The choices are interesting and unique. I had a lobster in a shallot butter over pasta that was excellent. I have had the rack of lamb on my first visit where they didn't charge for a refill on my iced tea, but apparently that was a mistake, so my one rule about returning wasn't broken. The service in the restaurant was adequate, but not outstanding, but that wasn't a deterrent. There wasn't room for dessert this time, but the ones we saw looked good.
I can only say that after contacting the restaurant about my "rule ", the owner wrote back to defend their policy and I respect that. She hoped that I would change my mind and come back, but there are way too many other establishments out there that pass my one rule test and also...
