stayed at SpringHill Suites Milford this past weekend. It was quick turn and burn trip. Admittedly I haven’t been there since July of 2020. Staying at a hotel post COVID-19 has gotten pretty much back to normal and restrictions have been listed. Rates are higher as the cost of business and inflation rise. At any rate, I got there right at check in time Friday June 7th. Every time I am in a new city, I seek out the Marriot properties, so I know what I am getting into. This location is at least 20 years old, and the décor matches some in , Detroit, MI and Albany, NY I have stayed at. It has a nice look and the corporation probably has done market research to see what colors are comforting to travelers. The desk person said it was renovated 7 years ago.| |This location and our room were quiet, which is usually my biggest concern anywhere I stay. It’s probably the biggest thing. The room was very clean, and it looks as if extra effort to make sure everything was in stock in the microwave/ refrigerator area. I booked one room, 203 which is the King Suite. I think it was the same room I stayed in 2008 but it has been renovated since. I wasn't sure but it looked that way. The girl at the desk told me the elevators were out and were being repaired. I only had one flight of stairs so it wasn't a big deal. Plus, the room was near the stairwell. The bathroom was very nice with the normal amenities. There was a little wear and tear but the amount of traffic in the hotel accounts for it. It wasn't a big deal. The newest thing was the shampoo , body wash and condition bottles attached to the inside of the shower. I forgot that I had seen that before at another Marriott property. I like that feature better than the small bottles they used to provide. ||The TV was working well and no problem with the Marriott WiFi.. I didn’t use the pool and gym but I think they were open but I didn't have time to check it out because I was busy that night in New Haven. | |Breakfast was great and all weekend the staff had it well stocked and were very conscientious of keeping it that way. The only thing I didn't like was the Jehovah Witness bothering everyone that was trying to get food at the continual breakfast. i realize that isn't the staff's fault. I was impressed with staff operating in the hotel. Everyone was pleasant and seemed busy anytime I looked. They also had a new bar there open till 11 which I didn't remember in previous stays there. This is a nice facility and definitely consider it if you need a...

Read moreAside from pretty bad coffee, the hotel can be much better managed by paying close attention to the needs of their long-time Marriott members and by improving their overall services during busy weekends and hot summer days.
Management is lacking in three areas: Front desk staff - experience greatly varies from person to person. I was not impressed with my check-in representative but very grateful to the one who took my call on the morning of my arrival. Because of her I had a quiet room reserved for me otherwise I would be place in the noisy part of the hotel. Housekeeping could be improved by cleaning bathrooms more thoroughly. I wished that housekeeping people would not adjust the termostat to a higher setting when they come in every morning. It did not feel good to come to stuffy room every time when it is close to +40 degrees C outside! Breakfast was a problem. I went there on my first morning (on Saturday) - the hotel was full. All I wanted some decent yogurt, fruit and hot serial. Only bananas were available. No signs of any other fruit being served. Yogurt was only low-cal and cheap brand. Empty pot of the hot cereal was still present. I asked the lady who was serving breakfast if more was available. She brought it out in 10 minutes. She was not looking for me to tell me that it was ready. The hot cereal was not eatable as it was not cooked, just some hot water poured over the oats. I went to my room and did not come for breakfast next day (Sunday) as well as on Monday as I feel that it would be the same mess. To my surprise when I came down on Tuesday., the picture was completely different. A good breakfast was served to much smaller crowd staying in the hotel after the weekend. The set up was much more generous. There were plates of 4 (!) types of fruit, 2 additional types of good yogurt were available. Hot cereal was properly cooked as well as cold cuts and cheese were added. Great abundance comparing to the meager choices over the weekend. Perhaps, it could be explained by different people being in charge of this service on weekdays and the presence of the hotel manager. But coffee was still very very bad.
Attention to those in charge of Marriott survey: when posting my review I checked "I would not recommend this property" but was allowed me to keep it checked. In order to post this survey I have to keep it unchecked so it appeared that I recommend this property. Make sure you adjust so Marriott gust can voice their...
