I've been stopping there since they opened the place, yeah trailer open in a fairly easy to find location The Lobster is Maine Lobster Meat which is fresh frozen Being from Colder water They have thicker shells and the Meat generally can be tougher ( to the whiner who expects to walk out to the boat in the harbor and get a roll On board the boat...and the other one complaining about Lobster not being Crab meat textured. As Far as The folks whining about the cost Lobster IN the shell Is very expensive even more so when the meat Has to be picked from the shell , I hate to tell most all Its hard to find Tail meat in any Lobster rolls these days . I'll be honest In the early 80's I worked for a wholesaler of Live lobster I used to eat it for breakfast some days, Lobster HUT does a good business, They are great folks and they are "There" Every day Unlike The "Traveling Lobster truck people" who Move all over the state, setting up in a new location daily.... I'd Never chase them around , who Knows where they are going next Nope I go where they are "Every day" with Good deal meals.... Update stopped by for Lunch Today Lobster rolls were stuff as always Awesome...
Read moreAfter traveling back and forth between Jersey and Connecticut, I figured it was time to finally try a lobster roll in CT. The Lobster Hut has an unassuming presence and you just might drive right by it (even with GPS) like I did. There are some tables outside of the food truck so you can eat there or take it to go. I was surprised that a food truck had pagers to let you know when your order is ready. Of course I got the lobster roll platter with fries. The lobster roll was stuffed with fresh lobster and I appreciated the fact that they did not use a potato roll for the sandwich. Plenty of melted butter on the side and the two together made for one unforgettable lobster roll. And the fries were most excellent! Hot and crispy, and not the least bit greasy. The one item that I found disappointing was the lobster bisque. It’s probably more me than the Lobster Hut. It had plenty of lobster in it, but it just wasn’t as creamy as the lobster bisque I’m used to from my favorite seafood restaurant. To be fair, I’ve yet to find a lobster bisque that comes close. Lobster Hut’s was decent, but did not have that pop of flavor that I’ve come to expect. I will definitely come back here when I’m in the area. Lobster was so...
Read moreI gotta say it was kinda pricey for what I got. Seafood is expensive, there's no doubt about that. But the lobster itself tasted bland, was rubbery, and probably overcooked. I had the large lobster roll, the lobster bisque, and the shrimp - which is a new item they hadn't added to the menu fully. The lobster was warm to taste, and the butter was nicely melted, but other than the bun, that was it. Plain, no tastin' lobster. The bisque was okay, there was a little more flavor than what was in the lobster roll. Bisque should (look it up) be extremely flavorful though. I still can't tell what had more flavor, the bisque - or the lobster in the bisque. Finally, there's the shrimp, which was pretty good. Nicely cooked/fried, not too crispy, not undercooked either. The shrimp comes with "coconut" sauce. I tasted no coconut. If you like zesty orange marmalade with your shrimp, you should come here. I attached a pic where the woman who answered the phone sent it to me. Although, I'm still scratching my head - wondering, why couldn't have this been done by...
