Having read the reviews, you cannot believe this is same hotel. My ill wife and I stayed here many times in the past three years. Have stayed in many hotels from Rochester to Grand Forks, Fargo to Bismarck and Minot. My wife is fussy about cleanliness. Have even transfered to other rooms in other hotels. At the end, whenever in Minot, she chose Candlewood suites. We chose rooms partially handicapped accessible and only twice could not get one out of fifteen or more stays.
Might be new owners, I don't know, but the hotel is now great. New carpets though out, new chairs to replace the worn out ones. Extensive remodeling of rooms going on floor to ceiling. Thankfully only one floor at a time. They will all be wonderful when done.
The staff have ALWAYS treated us kindly. My last stay is extended as wife passed shortly after renting and our home made unusable due to accident at the same time. The staff have responded promptly to any request. I got stomach sick one evening, asked the clerk if they had Peptobismo. Not having any the clerk went to a close by store and then gave them to me. Once had fridge quit freezing food. They helped carry our frozen food to put in their office fridge. Our fridge itself was fixed the next morning.
From the manager to maintenance they have been a real source of comfort to me. I received hugs when they heard my wife had died. They came around the front desk to hug me or hold my hand and say words of comfort, caring and kindness. When passing through lobby, they still ask how I am, what am I doing. One has even helped me send documents to insurance company electronically more than once. A Godsend for me! I have been here for seven weeks now waiting to get my house fixed. The only thing I have seen from previous reviews is clerks after 11 pm are working laundry and you have to buzz them. I will recommend Candlewood to any one and...
Read moreSo I stayed at 4 different places this trip. Had I known Candlewood was as nice as it was I wouldn't have needed the other 3. Friendly staff. Easy check in. Not the cheapest place I stayed, but easily the best value. For the quality of the room, the price is justifiable. ||So, here we go: I had a very nice room. There was a kitchenette, which was nice. GREAT shower!!! Wonderful water pressure. Nice towels and a good supply in the room. Very comfy bed. There was a nice tv to watch the football game on. The reclining chair provided was comfortable. The climate control AC/heat worked really well. I had a room at the front of the hotel and I could see the 'view' well (Whatever view you can see from the front of candlewood in Minot). Great blackout curtains to keep morning out for a while longer. There was coffee for the morning and travel cups so I could take it with me. I really appreciate that, considering it's such a small thing. Another place I stayed this trip, similar to candlewood, but more expensive, did not have travel cups for me. I was thinking WTF! No travel cup! ||My only suggestion would be for candlewood to move to a higher quality toilet paper and Kleenex. What toilet paper they did provided was adequate, however they could give you softer, two-ply stuff. Their stuff was a higher quality one-ply, but seriously, just give me the two-ply. This may seem funny but for us dudes, and perhaps the ladies as well, this IS important. No one wants one-ply. Ever. ||I will be staying here in the future. Highly...
Read moreWe loved the "apartment" style of the hotel rooms and the amenities to be able to cook for ourselves and properly store groceries and left overs. It was such a relief knowing we didn't have to spend more money eating out, and allowed us to really enjoy and spend our time together in our room, and not worry about going out, or finding somewhere to eat; since my fiance is stationed in Minot in the Air Force and I'm very far away, quality alone time is something we value and cherish. We were able to watch movies (many that the hotel provided for us-they had a great selection and wide variety), play video games, and cook which are some of our favorite things to do together that we've been unable to do for quite some time now.
The staff was very friendly and accommodating, which is always a plus. While there wasn't daily housecleaning, the staff was always available when we needed something like new towels, trash bags, etc. Personally, we prefer to maintain the cleanliness of our room, so we didn't mind not having our rooms cleaned for us.
Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay here. It was definitely a little pricey for us, which might prevent us from staying there again, however, for what you get, the amenities, and service provided, you definitely get more than what...
