This is my local home depot.. and with a never ending remodeling project I'm in here at least once a week probably more often 2-3x a week... I get it. the employees are for the most part not super knowledgeable and undertlstandably so.. I often help customers find things or answer general construction questions after overhearing employees give vague or invaluable answers to people. Which i don't mind doing. Today was a prime example of the lack of knowledge though. I just needed a 1" black steel pipe cut and threaded to a precise length that is a free service provided with the purchase of said pipe and I would assume a simple and fast procedure to have done for you.. after waiting about 15 minutes for someone to come to the pipe aisle after asking the nearest employee multiple times to get help with a pipe being cut. Finally someone showed up. Nice older gentleman who admitted right from the get go he hasn't used to cutting machine in a long time.but he would be happy to assist us. After two failed attempts at cutting the pipe and threading it incorrectly, he admitted that the training on the machine was bogus and the trainer who taught him how to use it didn't do a very good job at teaching and everyone in the store had a similar experience with the trainer, and nobody was confident in using said machine. 45+ minutes wasted and no pipe in hand when we left, to seek help at a different store. Home depot do better!! Don't offer a service if your employees don't know how to provide it or train them to properly use the machines that they are hired to operate. Unfortunately I'll be back..because as mentioned it is the closest home depot to me..but next time I need a service like that I'll probably go to another store if I can help it to avoid...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis tale is too long and involved but I will give you the broad strokes. I manage a commercial building in the area and needed some vinyl privacy fencing to replace deteriorated wood fencing. On September 12th I went to the Montville Home Depot and ordered $1200.00 worth of fencing which was to be delivered to the building within six days. I arranged to be called by the driver prior to delivery to meet him at the site to direct where the fencing should be left. The delivery on or about the 19th never happened. Then I was told to expect an October 4th delivery between 6:00am and 8:00pm. I waited for a call all day which never came. I called Home Depot and was told the fencing never got on the truck. Delivery was rescheduled for October 11th. I was never called by the driver. I was texted in the afternoon that the delivery was made and was asked " how we did". I checked at the commercial building and there was no fencing delivered. I called Home Depot to track down where the fencing had been left. After speaking to 3 different people I was told that it had been delivered to the commercial building next door. The driver never called me. I then called Home Depot again to arrange for the fencing to be picked up and delivered to the correct building. Again I requested and it was confirmed that the driver would call me so I could meet him and tell him where to leave the fencing. The driver called, I met him and the fencing was finally delivered to the correct address. Exactly one month after it was ordered. In Home Depot's defense, the delivery charge was waived and a $125.00 credit or rebate was to be arranged. The long and the short of it, I will never again use Home Depot...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMe and my brother visited the Uncasville Home Depot on Mother's Day with our mom. We were overall satisfied with the selection of flowers and garden supplies that we wanted to get for our mom. However, when it was time to check out, we asked the cashier Connor to split the payment between me and my brother. We had asked him several times to make sure it was all set. However, after I inserted my credit card, he said that he was unable to split the payment. This was frustrating because we had to go to customer service where they had to refund part of my payment. They then provided me a partial credit, and my brother was able to pay for the items that were taken out. The associate Juana at customer service was good, but I didn't appreciate it when she said we should have used cash to split the payment. I feel that every cashier at Home Depot should be knowledgeable on how to split payments between customers. I work at the Mystic Big Y as a cashier, and I do this all of the time! Otherwise, I am happy I received the credit and was not billed the full amount. Our flowers and garden look very nice at our...
