Clarion Inn Morgan City — Hotel in Morgan City

Get there to check in Friday night after being on the road for 2 hr. The room was a single bed upstairs when I made sure when booking that I had a double bed downstairs because my mom can’t climb stairs. After about an hr they find us a room downstairs. We went to our room there was no curtains only a sheer one that people could see in our room and the light was shining in our eye so I found a hanger in the closet to hang something up with. Woke up the next morning asked about the pool they said they would open it at 10. 10 came and went we called again they said they would come to open it but never did. We left to go to the festival. Came back tried to get ice out of 3 machines and they were all broken so I could not have a coke. Went to bed got up about 5:30 to go to the restroom and stepped in a puddle of water in front of the bathroom. Called front office they said they would send someone. About 7:00 got up to get dress and more water and my stuff was soaking wet that was on the floor we put towels down and they were brown it was so nasty. About 8 we hear someone thought they were upstairs but I guess he was in the walls he finally came to our room and told us he was going to move us to another room gave me the key and left we got to the other room and it smelled nothing but weed. I could not stand to stay in it. We had plans to stay and check out Monday but had to change our plans because of what was going on and no other room to put us in. I am lying in bed in this motel right now, and yes I said MO-tel, searching online for “what makes a hotel 3 stars”. This is NOT a three star hotel. It’s a 2-star and that’s only because it’s a chain; otherwise it would be a 1-star. Dated facility, lacking care everywhere. Paint chipping everywhere, flower beds look horrible. Pool seems nice but it’s March 1 so I’m not swimming. Filthy room with dust all over receptacles and lamps, grass all over rug, stained chair and curtains. Uncomfortable mattress and pillows. Shower runs well but drain won’t stay open so I jammed a shampoo bottle in it. I can still hear the tub leak though. Map of the hotel is crazy inaccurate and directions from the front desk and lack of signage seem like they just assume you’ve stayed here many times before. Had trouble finding my room. TV channels are fuzzy and do not match the guide. Dirty caulk on the tub is a good indicator of the overall attention to detail. There’s a restaurant that smelled great at check in but there is NO. WAY. I’m eating there. Work paid for this hotel because it was a “3-star hotel” and I am checking out in the morning and going to the Hampton on my own dime. That’s right, I’d rather spend $150 of my own money than stay in this place for free. Not sure I’m gonna sleep tbh. Wifi works. To start off, the front desk clerk was very pleasant and friendly.

I used one of their suite rooms for my bridesmaids and I to get ready in before my wedding. The suite was very clean and spacious which worked out perfectly considering I had 8 bridesmaids. The room is two stories with a spiral stair case that I absolutely loved! It gave the room an elegant but chic look. I actually took pictures on the stairs in my wedding dress that I know will come out beautifully.

The down stairs had a regular size couch, a smaller couch, an eating/ kitchen area, huge flat screen TV and a heart shaped jacuzzi tub!

Upstairs had a very comfortable king size bed, flat screen TV, a vanity style bathroom counter and a full bathroom. The vanity style counter came in handy for applying all of our makeup; the lighting was just perfect!

I was very surprised at how fast the wifi was. At other hotels I have stayed at I have always had slow wifi, or none at all. The wifi here is super fast and best of all, FREE!

Unfortunately, with all of the wedding activities I did not have a chance to eat at the hotel restaurant (Morgans) but the few times I pasted by it the food smelt delicious! Next time I stay I will have to make it a point to grab a bite to eat.
