We came here with our three little girls, and over all it was quite satisfying. My wife got the Mango Bowl with shrimp, I got the Sample Plate and we got the girls the Tamales Caseros to split.
Kevin was our server, and he did an excellent job, even with a constantly packed house. The managers were very attentive, stopping by all of the tables and checking on customers. The staff creates a friendly and relaxing environment despite the massive crowd. We were very impressed with the service here. And don’t fear the crowd, the wait time is not going to be as long as you expect. We were told 20-25 minutes. I was sure it would be a minimum of 45… it was only 15!
The shrimp in the Mango Bowl were butterflied and cooked to perfection. Nice and crisp, al dente as should be. The mango salsa was delicious and the strawberries are always going to pair well with mango.
My plate had a beef taco dorado, chicken taquito (a little burnt, but still good), cheese chili relleno, beef enchilada and a beef tamale. All were unique and flavorful. The sauces were all different, and all prepared with care. The tamale was delicious, my favorite in flavor on my plate. The best part of my plate, though, was the beef enchilada.
All of the tamales, mine and the three on the girls’ platter were of very poor consistency. I am guessing they had a mishap in making the maize dough as it was pudding-soft. This is why I count the enchilada as the best part if my dish.
The three sauces on the tamale plate, a red, green and cheese sauce, were all flavored fantastically. None of the sauces across the plates were the same, and they were all right on the money.
I ordered a small margarita with Don Julio añejo, and the alcohol used was definitely not that. The tequila in my drink was Jose Cuervo or lower quality, but it was strong, and bigger than expected for a small. The flavor was so-so even ignoring the lower quality spirits. I am used to drinking my own home made margaritas, and I spare no expense, so this drink was underwhelming on all sides.
Overall, this is now the best restaurant in town. Service is good, the food is quality, and the variety and creativeness a breath of fresh air in the Morgan City area. I definitely recommend this establishment to anyone living or...
Read moreSo let's break it down. As a party of 5, we were seated pretty quickly upon arrival. Drink orders were taken. Only 3 of the 5 arrived together. Asked for the other 2. Only one was brought after the second request so again had to reask. We also ordered guacamole with drinks which never came until the last drink and a reask on the guacamole. Waited approximately 30 minutes for the food but wasn't surprised considering the size of the party. No big deal. When the food arrived, only 4 out of 5 dinners came and we were told the last one was gonna take longer. The last dinner item was a bowl of soup. The food sat for approximately another 10 minutes before the last entree arrived so everyone else's dishes were beginning to get cold. This isn't the first experience we have had where the food doesn't arrive all together. It seems to be a pattern. The waitress only returned one time after the arrival of the food so one in the group went without a refill until it was time for the check. The food on a positive note is very well flavored even tho it couldn't be eaten hot. The waitress did return to the table after we had paid the bill seeming to rush us out. We didn't find the visit enjoyable for the...
Read moreUpdated Review…this place has definitely improved since their first time opening. Food is good with a wide range of choices. Margaritas are excellent along with service. Happy to see this restaurant doing well now that they improved on a few things.
New place in town so we showed up early. Didn’t wait long for a seat. Was first seated by the front windows and there was tons of flys swarming the tables in that area. I requested to be moved and with out hesitation was moved to the back. The waitress stated she never seen that many flys. The place is newly renovated and clean looking just tons of flys by the windows. It was extremely warm inside. We could overhear other tables complaining about how hot it was. My guess was 80+ degrees inside. We keep it simple ordering chicken fajitas, quesadillas, and burrito. Our food was not bad or great. It was like any other mediocre Mexican Grill restaurant. Hard to enjoy your food with sweat beading on your forehead. Our waitress was great and we will give it some time before...
