Holiday Inn Express & Suites Morgan City - Tiger Island by IHG — Hotel in Morgan City

The property is still new, so everything is nice an clean...can't argue with that, but it appears that the staff is working out a few kinks in the system. During the check in process, the desk clerk took my ID and credit card and then proceeded to move back and forth between computer stations and then went back behind the desk several times. It was quite disjointed, and I didn't appreciate her carrying my cards all around. It was also odd that after I was given my room key, I was asked to wait for a few minutes while they checked my room. It was 6PM; why give a guest a room key if you're not sure it was clean? After waiting for about 10 minutes in the lobby, the desk clerk swapped out my keys with another room and I was allowed to go to the room. The room was nice and clean, but had a few weird parts: when you enter the room, there is a 9'x9' tiled area; it was so large, it amplifies any sound in the room, and you wonder if something was missing from the area. Additionally, I tried to engage the deadbolt on the door, but it would not engage. Why? Because there was not a hole in the door jamb for the lock to engage. This was just odd that you would have a safety feature, but not be able to use it. On the flip side, the room and bathroom was large...ample space to spread out. I expected to be in Morgan City for 5 days and arrived to check in around 2130. I learned I'd been booked at another property nearby and indicated I preferred to stay at the Express location. The manager on duty at the time of my arrival was (and is) named Casie. I was informed it would not be a problem to switch hotels and I was asked pertinant questions regarding the nature of my stay in order to ascertain my requirements for accomodations. I continue to be most pleased with my initial contact with the staff. I was quite tired due to a lengthy day and a bit vexed when I realized I did not have a reservation at this property. No matter. In short order, everything was excellent.

When it became apparent my stay would be protracted, I stopped by the front desk to find out if I could extend my visit for 10 days. I knew I needed to create an office in my room and asked if it would be acceptable to have a not insignificant amount of packages delivered. Ronesha and Lesean always took their time to call me when deliveries arrived. My schedule was completely full and the messages were most beneficial. (Thanks very much for assisting! The timeliness on some of the items delivered was very important.)

I will certainly seek to stay here when I am in the vicintiy and will strenuously suggest my friends and coworkers...

I would not recommend staying here! Upon check in the bed linens had stains on them, there were also food crumbs on the comforter as well as in the sheets. There were ants in the room and the bathroom was obviously not properly sanitized before they assigned the room to us. Which I personally find absolutely disgusting! When I called the front desk to complain, the staff member rudely informed me that I could come downstairs to get replacement linens for the bed myself. I then had to proceed to strip and remake the bed, which also included putting the duvet on the comforter, myself. The ants in the room weren’t addressed until the following day when it was reported for the second time to the daytime staff. I also informed them of our experience upon check in, but was never offered a cleaner room for the remainder of our stay.
