This is the place people go to before they are sent to hell. I travel quite frequently and must say this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. My husband and I traveled from Florida and made reservations with this hotel through Expedia. The website made it seem like a decent mid level hotel. Upon arrival and checking in we noticed it wasn’t as we expected it would be. We went to the room and went to open the front door and the door handle was loose and looked as if someone had tried to break in. When we went in the room it smelled mold. There was wood chipped off the door frame to the bathroom and the room was just in poor condition. We were exhausted and just wanted to shower and sleep but when we went to shower there was NO HOT WATER!!! Not to mention the shower fixtures were holding on for dear life. We wouldn’t even take our shoes and socks off while there, carpets are stained and very disgusting. We go to bed and I wake up a very short time later itching. I don’t know what made me itch but something was making me itch like mad. I checked for bedbugs but couldn’t see any. I went to the bathroom and saw millipedes on the wall and floor. Needless to say, we did not sleep well. Morning comes and we are finding dozens of millipede crawling everywhere. Every time we killed a couple there was more showing up. My husband has finally had enough and goes to the front office. The clerk is nice enough to offer us another room. My husband states that he would like to see the room before he commits to anything. He checked out the new room and it’s just as bad as the one we are staying in. Not to mention there is a group of people sitting outside on chairs smoking marijuana in the room right next to where our new room was supposed to be. My husband tells the woman at the counter that he is dissatisfied and would no longer like to stay here and asked what kind of accommodations she would be able to give us since we were from out of town. She said there was nothing that she could do. After my husband had pressed the issue quite a bit and explain that we were from out of town and did not know any hotels around the area, my husband asked if she would look to see if any nearby hotels had any vacancies. She did give us two hotel names to call. We found a hotel at the Country Inn and Suites and quickly grabbed our luggage and ran! We go downstairs to check out and the girl behind the desk could not tell us how much money we were going to be refunded. My husband had booked for three days through Expedia and we only stayed for one night. I then asked for the manager. She explained that she was not working I would not be back until Monday. I asked for her name and her telephone number. She told me she could give me her name but could not give me her telephone number and that I would have to call the hotel back on Monday. I asked for her last name and was told she could not give it to me and that either and that her name was Vera. I asked for a manager above Vera and was told it was a franchise and she couldn’t give me the owners name. It has been over a week and still no refund for the two days we didn’t stay. I will never go to a Days...
Read moreWe booked via Expedia for our 3 night stay in the Stone Mountain area. We arrived at the Days Inn at 6 or 7 pm on Friday evening and were greeted promptly and checked in. The hotel is small, centrally located in a suburban area with several restaurants, grocery stores and other strip mall shopping staples within a easy walk. We were visiting friends in the Snellville area and this was an easy less than 20 minute drive. The room we were given happened to have been a handicapped accessible room on the first floor. The room was clean enough, the furnishings were a bit dated but in working order. The mini fridge microwave combo were OK, the fridge didn't work well but kept things at a light chill rather than standard refrigerator cold, fine for water/drinks. We didn't ask management/front desk about the issue with the fridge so I really can't slam nor praise them for anything with regard to that. It seems that Stone Mountain is a very short drive from here and this would be a good base camp for exploring. We were respected in our Do Not Disturb request, the sign went in the key slot the minute we arrived and didn't leave and no one seems to have bothered it or come in unwelcomed. The other guests from our observations seem to be a mix of families and others passing through. It seems like a fine area here but I'd of course recommend usual caution like hiding valuables and locking the door, etc. One small complaint... please get sheers on the windows! It was either close the blackout drapes or flash passersby here. I'd have liked to have some daylight. The bathroom was accessible with a roll in type shower (no tub, nothing to step over or into). Water sometimes ran out of the shower and into the grout on surrounding tiles near the shower but this was very minor. Look, here's the deal: this is a Days Inn hotel, this is a budget hotel for a couple night long stay while visiting. If you're expecting the Four Seasons, you're gonna be disappointed. If you just want a clean place to lay your head at night that isn't going to eat up your travel budget, this is better than fine. Bring your own soap and shampoo though because the little ones provided in the room will strip the crap out of your skin and hair. 4 out of 5 for just fine but some things not perfect. We'd happily stay here...
Read moreI usually just pass on negative comments directly to a property owner but in the case of hygiene and bugs, I draw the line. I was put off a little by the red, green, and blue flashing lights on all of the exterior columns and the construction equipment at the entrance but let that warning pass.
The room was clean and the bedding attractive but:
I awoke at 1:00 AM to the sounds of my wife screaming in the bathroom. When the lights were turned on, the counters and floor were alive with small 3/8 to 1/2 inch reddish bugs - I believe roaches. They were also in the shower and around the toilet. They quickly scurried to their drains and escape nooks and cracks but the damage was done in terms of our stay.
I called the night desk and a nice gentleman showed up at our door. We described the problem and he was attentive. He offered us another room but that felt kind of weird to move in the rain and in the middle of the night and our belief that if bugs were in one room, they were probably in all the rooms. I communicated that we would just leave and see if we could find lodging. We decided to stay and get up early and we would try to sleep with the lights on.
When we left, the front desk person was aware of the situation but I had to press to get the paper work agreement that they would not charge us for the room. The front desk indicated that under no circumstances should we have stayed in the room.
While I am at it, the parking lot and walks had trash and empty take-out bags scattered around, Even though advertised as smoke-free and refurbished, the counter tops had burn marks from cigarettes.
I won't go on as I am sure you get the message. Not only does the location lose income from my stay bit based on our negative experience, we will never stay in a budget motel like Days Inn again.
My bad as the old adage that "You get what you pay for" is a good rule of thumb. In our case the "what we got" was unacceptable.
Add: I did receive a full refund...
