Terrible first impression! It is with great dissatisfaction that I must submit this complaint. Due to the awful first day I experienced whilst visiting Planet Fitness 1900 Rockbridge rd, yesterday, March 1, 2021, I don't know how comfortable I will feel with continuing my membership. Yesterday was my first day ever entering Planet fitness. I am new to the area and have been hearing great reviews about all the improvements Planet fitness has made since its inception. Everything started wonderfully until I met SAVON. What terrible social skills he possesses, let alone his customer service. I had been in the gym for about an hour, and because it was my first day, I had a miniature backpack with me. I was aware of the lockers and planned to get a lock to put my things inside for my next visit. Savon, very rudely interrupting me- startling me without any introduction, asked me if the bag sitting next to me was mine. I told him yes. He informed me that I couldn't have it there and it must be placed in a locker. I understood. I explained that it was my first day and I would make arrangements, but if it would be possible to keep it close because I had my identification and personal items inside. He told me no. The problem has nothing to do with the "rules." I now understand no bags on the floor. But it is about the courtesy you show to your consumers. A friendly smile and better introduction would have totally made my first experience a great one, but instead, Savon was passive-aggressive and very, very, very aggressive. I do not feel comfortable being around him. I was speaking with a very friendly associate about the situation, and Savon walked up, basically saying that he was the manager and what he says goes. I just put my belongings in the car and finished my workout. My experience had been ruined. In closing, What a terrible first impression. Even worse is the fact that this egotistical, rude, and noxious individual is apart of management. "side note" as I was speaking with a team member trying to utilize a massage chair, Savon continuously tried to interject. I explained that I was uncomfortable communicating with him and I would not communicate with him until I received an apology. He walked away. Corporate, you really should heed this and make this right; I am very uncomfortable now and am dreading working out. I am paying my money and deserve to be in a respectful and friendly environment....
Read moreManagement is not friendly. Employees either. They decide when and where they will enforce their 'policies' and with no notice cancel your membership.
I've been working out at this gym since it opened two years ago. During the first month my personal belonging were stolen from the locker room. Of coarse management said in a nut shell, sorry but there's nothing we can do. Ever since I have kept my stuff with me in my workout bag. I wasn't willing to keep my stuff in my car as I know someone that had their car broken into in the same parking lot. A week ago a new not friendly, staff member informed me it was against their so called policy to have my bag with me sitting on a broken machine. I asked to have the manager call me when they came in Monday. I never got a phone call but received a cancel notice via email saying they were cancelling my membership. They allowed me to keep a bag with me for over 2 years and suddenly it's not ok. Seems like they enforce their 'policies' only when it's convenient for them. They never had any issue with me paying my bill, with any member, or staff member but just cancel you because you have your personal belongings in a small bag. After working out in various gyms over 25 years this is the first I've ever heard of a gym not allowing a bag. I called the manager who was very short and not very customer service oriented. Corporate is my next phone call along with all my neighbors that also spend money here. Sadly disappointed in...
Read moreGreat gym at a great price. No, they don't have a pool or a hot tub. No rowing machines, either. But for $9.99 a month (w/a 1year contract) or $15 a month w/out, it's a good deal. They have so many treadmills, most go unused. But they also have ellipticals, bikes, stair masters, weight lifting area and group training sessions (for no extra cost). Large screen TVs are in front of all the cardio machines, not on each piece of equipment but it's fine for me. You can plug in your phone and listen to music. I love the 30 minute work-out area for when you just don't have time for a full hour or more. And it's so clean, especially the bathrooms. Showers and toilets are always sparkling. For an added monthly fee, you have access to their massage beds, chairs and tanning booths, but I don't find any of that worth the added cost. It's not like they have massage therapists, just automatic massage tables with timers (water filled). Still, I like it better than LA Fitness where you have to wait around for someone to finish on a piece of equipment. There really is no judgment at Planet Fitness. There are all types here...all sizes, ethnicities, gender, ages, and you don't see any of them trying to show off in their trendy gym clothes. I'm happy, and I recommend it to anyone, especially those that are just...
