I stayed up at Bear Creek with my husband for a whole week for our anniversary. The units are all personally owned but they are rented out and maintained by the Bear Creek Lodge staff. It also appears that Bear Creek is owned by Alpine Lodging - a parent company.
I had booked a lock off room (basically an attached bedroom to a larger unit that looks like a hotel room) a few months back. Unfortunately a few days before our trip I suddenly see in my documents a completely different room I never chose. Since the units are personally owned they are all updated or decorated differently. I was fairly bummed out because the new room didn’t have any of the amenities we were excited for. We called the lodge and Sarah (the AM) was amazing and basically helped us get an even better room which was fully updated. She personally texted me photos and kept in contact with me throughout our trip. It was very personable and made us feel secure in our decision and relaxed during our trip.
I’ve seen a lot of reviews saying the reason to stay here is the staff and they are not wrong. The staff made our visit a 5 star stay. Every single person from the assistant manager to the cleaning staff were kind and engaging. They were able to help recommend the best places to eat and drink and we honestly had a blast. I have to give special shoutouts to Sarah, Amanda, and Tony who were very personable and honestly helped us out a lot.
We stayed in room 303B - which had been recently remodeled and as someone who is fairly OCD I loved how clean the lines were, the tasteful decorations, the brand new TV, and my favorite part was the soaker tub.
The lodge is in a very quiet spot in Mountain Village, but there was a short trail down to the market and gondola and always someone on staff to take you down in a shuttle if you didn’t want to walk. My husband and I enjoyed the quiet a lot - it was one of the best parts of the trip and there were other lodges which looked very busy and noisy so we were glad we were at Bear Creek.
The only cons I could see were maybe needing to let the pool stay open a little later - especially during the summer - 10pm or 11pm - it currently closes at 9pm. Also because of covid we didn’t have someone cleaning our room which bummed me out a bit, but it did also make me feel safer during these stressful covid times.
All in all, this will be our go to spot when we come back to Telluride. I’ve stayed quite a bit in Telluride and Mountain Village over the years and this has been the best experience I’ve ever had. Never lose your amazing staff - it’s truly what made everything such a...
Read moreBeautiful place to stay! The rates were very reasonable (off season) and the room was very spacious! We had a whole cabinet full of games to play, a kitchen stocked with plates, cookware, and silverware, a gas stove, spacious fridge and pantry space, a cozy fireplace, satellite TV, a gorgeous bathroom with a jet tub, and a king size bed with dozens of extra blankets. The staff was always super friendly and helpful helping us find things we needed (restaurants, venues, etc). They even gave us a bottle of wine to help to celebrate our honeymoon! The hot tub on site was great, as was the first. We got to see a nice view of the woods from our room (304a) as well. We were also offered free movie rentals during our stay.
All in all, I highly recommend this site to anyone staying near telluride. Walking distance to the Mountain Village gondola (which we used every day) and from there easy access to the Telluride gondola. We never had to drive our entire...
Read moreFirst, I didn't book this hotel, the client I'm working for did. That said I will never choose to stay at this hotel again and will be telling my client not to book me here again. Terrible experience the whole way through. I don't understand why there isn't adequate parking for guests, why places you can't park aren't clearly marked, or why you would threaten to tow a guest's car when they're stuck on a gondola trying to get back to move it. It's the responsibility of the hotel to provide parking. Never in my life have I had this situation, and the situation could have been handled much more calmly and respectfully. If parking is going to be complex, have a valet parker. These are not difficult requests. No refrigerator in the room...even motel 6 has those now. Tiniest bed I've ever slept on. No one is ever at the front desk, the shuttle driver is always missing...no one cleaned our...
