As my husband and I ventured through the charming village, we found ourselves relying on Google Maps for the ultimate Tomboy Tavern quest. Little did we know, the tavern was merely a stone's throw away from our hotel, right under our noses!
Excitedly, we placed our order for Tomboy Chicken Wings, accompanied by a side of French fries, a whiskey on ice, and a Campari. Alas, the bartender couldn't seem to locate the Campari, but to our delight, we were treated to two Makers Mark on Ice instead.
The moment of truth arrived as the platter of chicken wings graced our table. These wings were no joke—crispy, sizeable, and coated in a Mild by with a Kick Hot Sauce. They packed a punch that set our taste buds ablaze, but fear not, a generous bowl of ranch was there to rescue us from the delightful heat.
Of course, a plate of wings wouldn't be complete without a trusty sidekick. Enter the fries! These golden sticks were a sight to behold, dusted with salt and a tantalizing smoked spicy paprika. Every bite brought a fusion of flavors that danced on our tongues.
As we savored the wings and fries, we couldn't help but appreciate the vibrant ambiance surrounding us. Tomboy Tavern effortlessly blended elements of the Wild West with the pulsating energy of a dance club. It was as if cowboys and cowgirls had traded their boots for dancing shoes under the neon lights. It was an atmosphere that encouraged us to let loose and enjoy our scrumptious meal, wings in hand and whiskey on ice.
Ah, and how could we forget the sweet ending? My husband succumbed to the temptation and ordered a scoop of velvety vanilla ice cream, completing our culinary adventure at Tomboy Tavern.
So, whether you're in search of fiery wings, unexpected twists in your drink selection, or an atmosphere that fuses the spirit of the Wild West with the excitement of a dance floor, Tomboy Tavern in Mountain Village is the place to be. Just remember, next time, trust your instincts and leave Google Maps behind. After all, getting lost in the pursuit of deliciousness is all part...
Read moreOh, Tomboy Tavern, what happened? You used to be the quintessential après-ski spot in Telluride—a place where a cold beer met a warm burger after a day of bruising moguls and dodging snowboarders. You were a beacon for sports fans, weary skiers, and lovers of hearty food. Now? You’re more “Shania Twain sing-along” than “SportsCenter highlights,” and I’m not sure how to feel about it.
I came in after a glorious day on the slopes, ready to relive the runs over a good drink and whatever game ESPN decided was important enough to show. But instead of a touchdown replay or a hockey fight, I was treated to a full-blown karaoke showdown of “Man, I Feel Like a Woman” and “Cruise” on loop. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good throwback, but this is not the vibe I was going for while my quads were still burning.
The food? Well, that’s a whole other story. You used to have these incredible dishes that made me feel like I’d earned my meal (and then some). Now the menu feels… confused. Like it’s trying to decide if it wants to be elevated après-ski fare or something that pairs with a TikTok dance trend.
And the drinks—oh, the drinks. Once upon a time, you could get a strong cocktail that could melt the ice off your boots. Now, I’m pretty sure I spotted a drink that came with edible glitter. Edible glitter! That’s not why I put on three layers and braved a double black diamond, Tomboy.
To be fair, if your ideal après-ski experience involves belting out pop-country hits while sipping something Instagrammable, Tomboy Tavern has got you covered. But if you’re like me—just a ski bum in search of a good game, a strong drink, and food that feels earned—then you might find yourself nostalgically reminiscing about the good old days.
For now, I’ll raise my glitter-free pint somewhere else and hum a little Shania under my breath as I leave. Cheers to the memories, Tomboy. I’ll never forget...

We stopped into Tomboy Tavern on the last day of the Telluride Yoga Festival, and it couldn’t have been a better way to wrap up the weekend. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and relaxed—exactly what you want after a few days of stretching, breathing, and mountain magic.
We arrived during happy hour and were pleasantly surprised by the quality and presentation of everything we ordered. The hummus platter was absolutely amazing—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully arranged. We paired it with a crisp glass of white wine and a comforting bowl of soup, which hit the spot perfectly on a cool mountain evening.
The service was top-notch. Everyone—from the bartenders to the servers—was friendly, professional, and made us feel right at home. A huge shoutout to Gerry, the hostess who recommended we come here the night before when we met in the gondola. He was such a joy to meet—so kind, helpful, and genuinely lovely. His energy really added to the experience and made us feel like we were in the right place. Also Shot out the the ladies at the hostess stand earlier who were so nice and help us make the division to stay for happy hour while we waited for the dinner menu.
The location is unbeatable—right by the gondola, making it super easy to access whether you're coming from town or staying in the Mountain Village. The views of the mountain are stunning, and you can enjoy them from both the indoor dining room or the spacious outdoor patio.
Whether you're in Telluride for the yoga festival or just enjoying the beautiful mountain surroundings, Tomboy Tavern is a must-visit. Great food, even better people, and a vibe that’s as elevated as...
