My stay at Roam Inn was a mixed experience. It’s a beautiful place in a very convenient location but there were some cons. Our room was upstairs, above the restaurant and there was a lot of restaurant noise. When we sat on our balcony, we sat directly over restaurant guests who were having dinner so it wasn’t very private. Also, you could hear all the noise from the restaurant while inside the room like music, people talking, dishes clanking, etc. The worst thing was hearing restaurant staff cleaning and doing all of their tasks once the restaurant closed late at night. The walls in this inn are paper thin so we heard restaurant staff talking, singing, cleaning and I assume preparing the restaurant for the next day each night. This went on until about 11:00 PM. We had a couple very early morning wake up alarms in order to go on our adventures so going to sleep early wasn’t an option due to the noise. There is a lot of road noise too from the main road that is right out in front. Other guests who were staying in the room next door sat out on their balcony one night and just normal talking seemed very loud. I’m not normally one to complain but this stay just wasn’t as peaceful as I hoped. The room itself was great though. Clean, spacious, a sitting area/living room and two balconies. I just don’t think I would stay again because of the noise of the road and restaurant below the room. It was also awkward having to walk through the restaurant every time we had to get to our room, which was only accessible by one staircase so you’re walking past people having dinner as you’re coming in from adventures or carrying you’re luggage....
Read moreThis is the perfect place. My husband and I stopped here after driving 400 plus miles. We originally were traveling to Hancock, Michigan but decided that it was too far and wanted to stay where we have landed in Munising. As we drove along we noticed this large building that was beautifully decorated from the outside. When we realized it was a hotel we swung in to see if we could get a room. We were unsure if they even had availability, but to our surprisethey did. they were running a special of half off the room if we made reservations to their restaurant. So we booked a king suite and made a reservation for dinner. When we got to our room we were very impressed. Not only was it spacious an clean, but the finishes were amazing. The bed was comfy and the towels were large and soft. After we settled into our room, we decided to explore. On every wall in this hotel we noticed large photographs of local attractions. Pictured rock, Northern lights, waterfalls, lighthouses, etc. They were beautiful. We also noticed that the staff, especially Erin, was friendly and welcoming. Their restaurant, Tracy's, was amazing. My husband and I both had the burger. I highly suggest it as well as their carrot cake.... SO GOOD!! They even brought champagne to our table to celebrate our anniversary. When we returned to our room, they had been there.. They turned on the heat to warm our room and left us a card and present to celebrate our anniversary.. In the morning they had an amazing coffee bar with many choices to choose from. I can't say enough about this place. I am excited to try this hotel again in...
Read moreWe usually enjoy boutique hotels but we were disappointed by our stay at the Roam Inn. We came in the side door and were confused to find the reception desk is in the middle of the restaurant across from a bar.
We had Room 17 which was a Single King on the second floor. The room was very stylishly decorated, clean, and the bed was very comfortable. We felt more attention could have been put into function. The majority of the small room is taken up by the king bed. There are also 2 small nightstands and a fridge unit. Unfortunately there isnt a desk, tv stand, or any where to put purse and other items other than the floor. The bathroom was cavernous but had a tiny sink vanity with no room for toiletries, it seemed a lot of space in the bathroom was wasted that could have been used for more counter space.
We were unaware at time of booking that Tracys Restaurant wraps around the majority of the first floor. Be warned- You will have to walk by tables of people dining in order to get upstairs. Unfortunately, the sound really carries up to the second floor. After a long day of driving and exploring Pictured Rocks we were excited to relax in our room, however we could over hear people dining downstairs. The restaurant closes at 9, but we could also hear the staff cleaning up, banging chairs, etc until well past 11:30 which made for very poor sleeping.
In hindsight perhaps one of the rooms on the first floor would have been more quiet (in the back of the building).
There are not many other options in town and the room was very clean so hence...
